Chapter 1

"It's you."

"Are all the dancers here yet?" Julian asked.
"Yeah, they are all here. I think we can start. The concert is just around the corner and those beginners can't even dance the steps properly," Raymond replied.

Julian Cheung is a famous artist in Hong Kong. He enjoys sports, movies, and all those other guy things. His love life has been quiet for he is always busy with his work. Julian is like the kind of person that puts his career in front of everything, but that might be due to what had happened to him when he was younger. His parents died when he was young so he was always very independent. His best buddy Raymond Lam who is also his manager can sometimes be really mean and rude, be deep within he is a nice guy when you get to know him. He met Julian when he was in junior high, and is friends with him since. The two buds are roommates and understand each other very well. Raymond from a rich family had no other siblings. His mother died in his early teen years. His father was always too busy to care for him, which caused him to eventually move out with Julian, and created his cold exterior when he is at work. The two lonely boys were able to open up their thoughts to one another and only one another (at the time period anyways). Maybe it was their similarities, Julian without any parents, as for Raymond, having his father seemed like not having one at all.

Julian chuckled, "Don't worry man, everything would be perfect. Just you wait."
"If you say so," Raymond responded.
Facing the background dancers Julian announced, "Okay everyone, the concert is within 3 months. Steps must be perfected."
"Yes sir!" everyone responded.

They all practiced their steps with Julian leading them, and Raymond watching in the corner. They practiced from noon, until night. Julian finally dismissed the group, and told Raymond to go home first, since he wanted to practice for a bit longer.
"Are you sure man?" Raymond asked. "You've been dancing all day too, you should get some rest. You have to record your song tomorrow morning."
"Don't worry Ray, I know my limits. I won't over do it," Julian reassured him.
"Okay then Jules, I'll see you then. Night."
"Night."
As Raymond walked out he saw a girl in the studio next door. The girl danced so gracefully, he wanted to go in to talk to her but decided not to bother her. Walking away with a smile, he went home.

As the girl was dancing another girl approached her. The other girl was one of Julian's background dancers. "Charmaine, aren't you tired. I've been dancing all day and it feels like I have ten thousand blisters on my feet."
Charmaine smiled at her younger sister, "You silly girl, if you are so tired why didn't you go home first?"
"I wanted to watch you dance. I'll never dance as gracefully as you do."
"Tavia, if you work and practice hard enough you can. You can do anything you want as long as you put the effort and time into it."
Tavia smiled at her sister, and nodded with determination.

Charmaine's and Tavia's parents died when they were young. They met at an orphanage, and became the best of friends. Although they weren't biological sisters, Charmaine cared for Tavia as if they were. Charmaine was a kind and gentle character. Although she tried to seem really strong, she wasn't. She was a fragile person, but for Tavia she made her appearance seem really strong. Tavia on the other hand had a stronger character than Charmaine. She always stood up for her older sister, but also admired her for her grace. The two girls go through thick and thin and tried to overcome everything that fate tossed towards them. Charmaine loved to dance, which brought this interest to Tavia, but Tavia's real dream was to become a lawyer.

Tavia yawned, and Charmaine saw this. "Tavia why don't you go home first since you're tired," she said quietly.
Tavia yawned again and nodded, "You don't practice so late either. You need your rest to."
After Tavia left Charmaine continued to dance.

In the other studio Julian was packing up to leave, and once again he heard music coming from the other room. "It's that girl again." He was surely impressed, "And Raymond thought I was the one who over worked myself." Chuckling Julian walked home.

The next morning Charmaine had woken up early to make breakfast for her and Tavia, but when she was done Tavia had not woken up yet. "It's still early. I should let her sleep a bit longer," Charmaine thought to herself. Instead of waiting at home for her sister to wake up she decided to go check the mail. As she opened to mail box she noticed it was a letter for Tavia. She quickly went back into the house, with excitements she yelled, "Tavia! Tavia! WAKE UP!" she ran into Tavia's room and continued, "you got a letter from the law firm you applied to!"
After hearing that Tavia shot up from her bed, "I what?!?" she said in shock.
"You got a letter from the law firm you applied to! Quickly open it to see what it says."
Tavia opened it and began to read a section of the letter, "Dear Miss Tavia Sheh, you have been accepted as the newest member for RN Law & Justice. Your position will start tomorrow. Please be on time, 8:00 am sharp."
With that Charmaine gave Tavia a hug, "Congratulations!"
Suddenly Tavia's alarm went off, "On no I'm late for work," Tavia said as she rushed to the bathroom.
All Charmaine could do was giggle at her not very punctual little sister.
After eating breakfast Tavia went to the studio and Charmaine when to the coffee shop she worked at.
As Tavia walked into the studio she began to lack the courage to tell Raymond that she can no longer dance in the concert since she has found her dream job, but she had to, and so she did, "Mr. Lam, I have something to say to you. Umm..." she began to stutter and Raymond cut in.
"Miss Sheh if you have something to say please to so, and make it snappy, I'm a very busy person," he said annoyed and gave her a glare.
See his glare Tavia blurted out what she had wanted to say quickly, "I can't dance in the concert anymore. I want to quit."
Surprised by what the girl had said Raymond snapped, "What do you mean you want to quit. The concert is in three months and you said you want to quit? Who would I find to fill in for you. All you think about is yourself. ...." and he continued to yell.
Tavia already had someone in mind to fill in for her. Although she had not asked the person yet she knows that the person would never say no to her. "Raymond."
"What?!"
"I actually had someone in mind to fill in for me. She is a wonderful dancer, and she picks up the steps really quickly."
Intrigued by what Tavia had said Raymond asked, "Who is she?" He was desperate. Since Tavia was leaving he was willing to take any other good dancers out there because the concert could not be cancelled.
Tavia smiled and said with determination, "Her name is Charmaine Sheh. She is my older sister."
"Okay then have her come here tomorrow and we'll see if she is good enough to replace you, if not, you better find someone better."
"Tomorrow? So late? She can come today at noon."
"Whatever."
Smiling Tavia went off to make a phone call to Charmaine.
"Weird girl," Raymond thought as he watched Tavia walk away.

Tavia dialed the number of the coffee shop.
"Moonlight Caf, Charmaine speaking, how may I help you?"
"Charm, it's me Tavia."
"Tavia why are you calling me at this time, shouldn't you be working?"
"Charm, I need you to fill in for me as a backup dancer. I really want to become a lawyer and I don't want to lose this chance. My boss won't let be quit unless I can find a good replacement. Please Charm; I really need your help this time."
Like usual Charmaine always gave in to her sister's nagging, "Fine," she agreed with a sigh.
"Thanks Charm! I love you so much!"
"I know, I know."
"Can you come to the studio today at noon, the boss wants to test you, but I know you will pass!"
"Okay. I'll see you then."

"Hey Benny, you think I can take the afternoon off? My sister wants me to go to her studio," Charmaine asked the manager of the coffee shop who was also one of her closest friends.
"Go ahead, but remember to say hi to her for me," Benny replied casually.
Charmaine went to the back and changed out of her uniform and headed for the studio. When she arrived she saw her sister with a young man standing in front of her.
"Charmaine over here," Tavia yelled as she waved towards Charmaine.
Charmaine waved back, and as the man turned around, in his mind all he could think about was, "It's you."
