Chapter 2

Assumed Boyfriend

"Hi my name is Charmaine nice to meet you," Charmaine greeted as she put her hand out for a shake.
Raymond shook hands with her. "Hi my name is Raymond. I believe I've seen you in the studio before, in the room across from the one we use."
Tavia cut into the conversation excitedly praising her sister, "Of course, she practices her dancing techniques every night. She is a really good dancer, and --" she stopped, when she noticed she got a little too carried away, "Opps."
"That's okay Tavia," Raymond said. "Do you mind doing some steps for the group to see inside?" Raymond asked Charmaine.
Charmaine was a little shy for she doesn't perform in front of a big group often.
"Of course she wouldn't mind!" Tavia answered for her.
"Tavia," Charmaine whispered to Tavia while she nudged her.
"Don't worry you'll do fine," Tavia whispered back.
When they got inside Raymond introduced Charmaine to the dance group. "Where is Julian?" he asked.
"He left to get a drink," Shirley, one of the dancers, replied.
"I guess we'll start without him then," he looked at Charmaine, "Okay shall we start then?" Charmaine nodded. "Music."
Charmaine danced to the music, for the past few days she had helped Tavia with her steps so she knew some of the dance. As Julian walked in from the background, he was amazed by the stranger that danced before him. He thought to himself, "It's her."
When the music stopped so did the dance. Everyone clapped. "You're hired, welcome to the team," Raymond said warmly.
Juilan was clapping as he approached Charmaine, "Beautifully done."
"Thank-you," she said.
"Julian Cheung, nice to meet you."
"Charmaine Sheh," she smiled.
Tavia nudged Charmaine, "See! I told you so, you always dance so gracefully."
The two smiled at each other.
"Okay then, lets call it a day, and we'll meet tomorrow. How does that sound?"
"Great!" everyone shouted back.

While Raymond and Julian walked to the parking lot Raymond asked, "So what do you think of the new one?"
"Okay I guess," Julian shrugged. "Why? You like her."
"Are you kidding me man? I just meet her."
"Well there is such thing called love at first sight."
"Just get in the car," Raymond said.
As they drove out, the noticed it had begun to rain, and saw two figures waiting for a taxi to come by. When they approached the figures, they realized it was Tavia, and Charmaine. Raymond rolled down the window and asked, "Need a lift?"
The two girls nodded, "Thank-you."
After they got in, Julian asked, "Where are you two going?"
Charmaine responded, "To the Moonlight Caf�."
"You two girls are going to a coffee in this weather?" Raymond questioned.
"Oh no, Charmaine works there part-time," Tavia answered.
Suddenly the car stopped, "We're here," Julian informed.
"That was fast," Raymond said.
"Would you two like to come in for a drink, and some pastries?" Charmaine asked.
"Sounds good to me," Raymond said.
The four of them walked into the coffee shop as Benny walked to the door and greeted them, "Hello and welcome to Moonlight Caf�."
Charmaine walked to the back of the counter and put on her apron as Tavia introduced to group. "Benny this is Raymond, and Julian. Raymond and Julian this is Benny the manager at this coffee shop."
When Charmaine walked out she asked, "So what can I get for you two gentlemen here today?"
Julian ordered, "A small coffee, and a piece of tiramisu would be nice." He looked up at Charmaine with a warm smile, and she smiled back.
Raymond noticed this and wasn't too thrilled by the sight, but he ignored it and ordered, "I would like some cheesecake and a cappuccino."
"Okay," Charmaine responded, "And for you miss?" looking and Tavia and giggling.
"EVERYTHING," Tavia blurted out.
The four laughed at her.
Tavia turned all red, "What? I couldn't decide what I wanted, they all sound so good."
"How about some chocolate cake Tav?" Charmaine recommended.
Tavia nodded.
As Benny and Charmaine went back to work after serving the three of them. Tavia, Julian, and Raymond had some small talk. Althought Raymond was in a conversation his mind and eyes always looked back at Charmaine.
"She gives me such a warm feeling. Cozy. Like a family a never had," Raymond thought to himself. Raymond's mom was also a dancer, and ever time she practiced her dancing she would bring Raymond along with her.
Julian noticed that Raymond had drifted off into his own world so he hit him in the arm, "Hey, earth to Raymond."
"Yah," he responded dumbfound.
Tavia laughed, "What were you daydreaming about Raymond?"
"Nothing," he responded.
Before they knew it, time flew and it was already 9 pm. The sky was dark and the shop was preparing to close.
"Hey Tav, you go home first, I'm going to go to the studio for a bit later," Charmaine informed Tavia as she was walking towards the group.
Tavia nodded and smiled, "Okay."
While Charmaine was wiping the tables off in the distance Raymond asked, "Does Charmaine go the studio every night?"
"Sometimes," Tavia answered.
"Is she by herself?"
"Most of the time she's by herself, but every now Benny or I go with her."
"Oh," Raymond responded assuming that Benny is Charmaine's boyfriend.
Although it seemed like he didn't care, Julian was listening in to the conversation, and grew a liking to Charmaine so he decided, "Hey Charmaine why don't I do to the studio with you. I feel like doing a little practicing myself. I can also show you some of the steps you need to learn for the concert."
Charmaine nodded.
"You need me to go with you?" Raymond asked.
"No it's ok; it's not too far from here. Walking is fine. Besides you have a meeting tomorrow morning. You should probably go home now or you won't wake up in time."
Suddenly Tavia yawned, and then her face turned a little red from the embarrassment, "Sorry, I think I'm going to go home too. It's my first day at work tomorrow. I don't want to be late."
"I'll give you a lift them," Raymond insisted.
Tavia nodded.
The two said their good-byes and left. Benny had left already, leaving Julian and Charmaine alone. Charmaine had to finish off some cleaning before she closed up. Julian decided to walk to the kitchen to see if he could help.
"So what are you up to? Need me to help you with anything?" Julian asked.
"It's ok," Charmaine said with a smile, "I'm done. Shall we get going then?"
"Yep."
Charmaine locked the doors, and the two of them walked towards the studio.
It was silent, as they walked until Julian asked, "So how long have you and Benny been together?"
