Chapter 9

Change in Course

Hearing the door open Charmaine got up from the floor with the support of Raymond and they quickly got loose from the hold of the other. They turned towards the door to see who the person was.
Standing at the doorway was Julian. He hadn't expected for this, not this soon at least. Julian's eyes then shot right to the ground avoiding the two of them. He scratched the back of his head, "Umm... hope I didn't interrupt anything. I think I'm going to go..." he stuttered, he didn't know what to say. It was too sudden, he hadn't let go yet. It's felt as if his heart had shattered into pieces. He couldn't bear to look at the two of them any longer. "I'm going to buy a drink," he finished, and with that he ran off leaving Charmaine and Raymond there standing there looking at him.
"It's not what you think Julian," Charmaine yelled as she ran to the door noticing that he had already ran out.

Just outside the doors Julian stood there looking up into the sky. He heard Charmaine's voice echo, "It's not what you think Julian..." Even if he didn't want it to be like that, he had to just let it be. "This is what you wanted, didn't you Julian?" he thought to himself. He walked off to the nearby park and sat there just thinking about her.

Meanwhile inside the studio Raymond stood there as he watched Charmaine standing at the door looking out. He finally managed to say, "Did you really mean that?" He too had felt like his heart was no longer whole after hearing what Charmaine had yelled to Julian.
Charmaine didn't realize that she had spoken without thinking. Raymond was still there, and she, but she couldn't have denied her feelings. Yet at this point, she didn't know what she was feeling.
Raymond walked up to her and held onto both of her arms. "Did you really mean that Charmaine? Did all that happened just now mean nothing to you at all?"
Tears conjured up in Charmaine's eyes as she faced Raymond. "I don't know Raymond, I don't know what I feel right now," she finally answered as the tears finally watered down.
Raymond looked at her, he felt even worse seeing her like this than seeing her going after Julian before. "I'm sorry Charmaine; I didn't mean to rush you. I shou--" Suddenly Raymond stopped.
Charmaine's head leaned on Raymond's shoulder as she cried.
He patted her shoulder letting her know that it's okay to cry.
When the tears dried up the two sat on the bench at he sides of the wall. Charmaine was tired, her head was leaning on Raymond's shoulder as she was about to fall asleep. When she did Raymond took his jacket and covered it over her shoulders. He got her to lean against the wall as he walked out to see the night sky cry for Charmaine as well.

While it was raining, Julian was still in the park sitting at the bench, he decided to go to his car and drive home. Once he had gotten into his car he remembered the day that he found Charmaine had fainted on the road. His head tilted forward and hit the top steering wheel. The times he had with Charmaine flashed by in his head, and he asked himself, "What is it do you want me to do?"

Charmaine was at the studio and noticed that everyone was looking at her when she had awaken, "Are you that sleepy?" Shirley, one of the dancers, asked.
"Are you okay Charmaine? You don't look too well," Jack questioned.
"I'm okay, thank-you for all your concern," Charmaine answered.
Even though everyone was coming towards her with concern there was only one thing going through her head, "Where's Raymond?"
His jacket was with her, but his body was not physically there.
"Umm... Has anyone seen Raymond?" Charmaine finally managed to ask.
"Oh I saw him earlier in the lounge. It looked like he was cooking something," Jack replied.
Without thinking any further Charmaine ran to the lounge only to see Raymond's back. He was at the stove, but when he heard footsteps walking towards him he turned around. With a warm smile he said, "I see you're awake. I made some congee for you to eat."
Charmaine walked up to him, she still had his jacket cloaked over her, "Thank-you Raymond." She said placing her hand over his.
Raymond was surprised. In response to her actions he pulled her into his embrace happily. "You know that I would do anything for you, no matter it is."
She then putting her arms around him as her chin reached just the top of his shoulder.
