Chapter 18

To a Special Friend

After Tavia and I had finished cleaning up the dishes we started to get ready ourselves. What was odd was that Tavia seemed to be more interesting in getting me ready, then getting herself ready.
"So what about you Tavia? Do you want me to do you're hair for you to," I asked her as she was curling my hair for me.
"Nah, I'm just going to tie it up."
"I thought you liked putting your hair down though?"
"Just trying something new Charm."
"Right," I responded. There was something definitely wrong with Tavia, and it had something to do with the surprise Bosco had mentioned. "So what's this surprise the guys have in mind for me."
"Surprise?" Tavia said as I caught her off guard. "What surprise? I don't know about any surprise."
Tavia was a terrible liar; she was choking on her own words and her constant blinking.
"Tavia you know you can't lie to me. So are you going to tell me what's going on?"
"I do know," she confessed, "But I can't say."
"Fine," I gave up, "I'll find out sooner her later."
"Sooner than you think," I heard Tavia mumble under her breath.

So I'm expecting for a surprise in the near future. I wonder what it could be. Would it be before the concert or after the concert? I guess it would be too rushed if it was before the concert, so it must be something big after.

As the time of the concert approached Tavia and I quickly changed, and went out to wait for the guys' limo to pick us up.
While we were waiting Tavia's cell phone rang, "Hello," she greeted as she picked up the phone. "No daddy. I told you I had a concert tonight to go to. Why? I really want to go. Fine be that way."
"What's wrong?" I asked the angered Tavia.
"My dad, your uncle wants me to go home right now because we have guests from out of town over. He's so unreasonable. I told him a long time ago about this concert. It's not fair."
"I know what you mean; my parents are the exact same way."
"Taxi!" Tavia called out at the taxi cab as it passed by waving her hands in the air.
"Have fun for me Charm, I guess I'll be watching you on TV then." With a hug she got into the cab and left home.

I thought about her words for a bit, "watching you on TV?" doesn't she mean the guys. Why would she be watching me on TV? She must mean in the audience.

I waited for the cab but it took forever to come, the concert was about to start any minute now. "Great, my first concert, I'm alone, and I'm going to be late," I muttered. I looked over the side and noticed a man in a black uniform running towards me. He stopped right in front of me, should I run away? Should I be scared? He was huffing and puffing with his back bend and his hands on his thigh trying to catch his breath.
"Are you okay sir?" I asked.
He shook his hand at me, "Are-you-Miss-Sheh?" he said in between breaths.
I nodded, "But how do you know me?"
"I'm the chauffeur; the limo broke down a couple blocks away."
So that's what took the limo so long to get here.
"Where's Miss Yeung?"
"She had a family gathering to attend to tonight and will not be able to make it."
The limo chauffeur quickly caught a taxi and off we went to the concert.

Upon arrival the crowds of fans were chaotic. "Do we have to go through them to get in?" I asked the chauffeur.
He shook his head and smiled at me, "We get to go through the back doors. Here's your VIP pass," he said as he handed me a tag to put around my neck.
Since the concert had already started I watched the guys perform from the side of the stage. Looking down at the audience from behind the curtains made me nervous, I wonder how the guys did it. There must have been thousands and thousands of people out there.

It was intermission when the guys finally got to rest. As they walked backstage I clapped loudly for them.
"Charmaine!" they all called out.
"We thought you weren't going to make it," Bosco said.
"Yeah Tavia called us and said that she couldn't come so we assumed that you weren't going to come either," Ron added.
"We tried calling your cellphone but no one picked up," Raymond stated.
"You did? I didn't hear it ringing though," I responded as I started feeling my pockets to see where my cell phone was. "Must have left it at home," I said when I couldn't find it.
"So why are you so late?" Bosco asked.
"The limo broke down," I explained as I told them the rest of the story.

"As long as you made it," Raymond said.
"Raymond, Bosco, Ron! Get ready to go on stage you're on in thirty," their manager called out.
"Come on, we better get on," Ron said as the guys got up and walked on to the stage.
Raymond turned around and looked at me, "Charmaine there is a seat for you in the front row in front of the stairs heading up the stage."
"Thanks," I said as I looked for my way down the the stage and into the crowd.

A two hour concert might sound long, but it sure ended quickly. I felt like I had just arrived and it was the finale already.
"This final song is dedicated to a special friend of ours," Raymond said as he walked down the stage and towards me.
