Chapter 15

The Anonymous

Lee Hom burst through the entrance of the train station. The station was chaotic and people were streaming steadily out of the station. He could guessed that the train station had already received a similar call of the bomb threat in one of the trains.

Lee Hom scutinised the crowds in search of a familiar figure. He pushed through the crowds and made his way towards the ticketing counter.

"Excuse me, have you evacuated the people on the train?" Lee Hom spoke through the glass.
"Yes sir, we have evacuated them through the east entrance over there," The girl behind the counter pointed to her left, "if you're looking for your family, please-" Lee Hom muttered a thanks and ran towards the east entrance before the girl could even finish her sentence.

Lee Hom stood outside the entrance, hoping to find what he was looking for. Soon, the crowds started to clear, police started to arrive and they began to block out the area.

"Sir, please leave, every passenger from the train have left the station, we need to clear the area." An officer persuaded Lee Hom and pushed him out of the place.

He walked towards his car, still looking around the curious on-lookers outside the station, hoping to see Hebe among them. His heart sank further and further, as he caught no sight of Hebe anywhere. Could she be in danger? Could the people who had targeted her brought her away? Where could she have gone? Why didn't she contact him? Lee Hom dug out his cell phone and was about to punch in her number when it rang. He answered the call eagerly without even looking at the caller's name.

"Lee Hom! Where are you? Ms Lin is here..." JR.'s voice sounded over the phone.
"JR. can I call you back later?" Lee Hom wasn't exactly listening to what JR. was saying over the phone until he heard something that caught his attention. "Wait, Ms Lin? You mean Hebe? Where is she?"
"Yes, she is here in the house now..."

Lee Hom rushed into the house and ran up to the study. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Hebe's back facing him in the room. She turned around at the sound of the opening door.

"There was a bomb-" Hebe started to speak. Lee Hom walked towards her and pulled her into his arms. Hebe started to stutter and as she struggled to finish her words. "-at ttthh..the stt...station..." Hebe froze in his arms, not sure how to react.
"I'm glad you're fine. I was so scared I might never see you again..." Lee Hom muttered softly to himself, but loud enough for Hebe to hear it. He looked into her eyes, they seem to be questioning his words. "Don't leave me." Lee Hom couldn't think of any words to explain how he felt when she left. Instead, he bent slowly and planted a kiss on her trembling lips. How could he let her know that he loved her and wanted to be with her?

Hebe closed her eyes, was she dreaming? Don't leave him? What does that mean. Her heart started racing as they embraced each other. For once, she was sure of how she felt towards him. For once, she knew that he felt the same way.

After a long and sweet embrace, they reluctantly pulled themselves away from each other. Hebe was blushing as she turned away from him.

"What happened at the train station?" Hebe broke the silence between them.
"We received an anonymous phone call saying there was a bomb on the train to Rui Shui. They said that they were targeting a chinese woman on the train. After the previous incident at Gao Shiung, I was afraid that someone was trying to kill you..."
"Kill me? But the pendant is no longer with me, why would they want to do that?"
"Do you remember offending anyone?"
"That's not possible..."
"Or...your family?"
"My family? Aunt!" Hebe gasped. If those people knew she was going to Rui Shui, could they have found out about her Aunt?
"Is it possible that they have got into some kind of trouble?" Hebe didn't answer his question, instead, she dialed her Aunt's number on her phone.
"There's no answer." Hebe creased her brows and frowned. "Could something have happen to them?"
"We'll go take a look..."

Hebe followed Lee Hom out of the house and set off for Rui Shui.
