Tonight was the engagement. Her engagement night. Hebe had always thought that marriage was for two people who were deeply in love with each other, but why is she getting married to someone she did not love? How about the one she love? Where is he? From the day she left Lee Hom at the motel, he had never once left her mind. Her heart was filled with so many mixed emotions. Guilt, confusion, love...
"Mrs Wang, Mr. Wang is outside." The lady who was helping Hebe put on her gown said. Hebe's eyes lit up at the lady's words. Lee Hom? Was she dreaming?
Hebe stood up and turned around just as the door of the room opened. Zax walked into the room in his smart white tuxedo smiling back at her. Hebe's smile turned stiff when she saw him. She suddenly remembered Zax actually share the same surname as Lee Hom.
"You look exceptionally beautiful tonight." Zax walked towards her. Hebe could not deny that Zax was like a Prince Charming in his white suit, she too, knew that Zax loved her and treated her like his Princess, but she could not accept anyone's love anymore. Her real Prince was Lee Hom, only he had the key to her heart. Hebe watched as Zax slowly turned into Lee Hom.
She's smiling, Zax thought to himself. This was the first time he saw her smile. Zax held up a red velvet box and opened it. Inside the box, was a beautiful diamond necklace.
"Let me put it on for you." Zax turned Hebe around to face the mirror. He took the necklace out of its box and placed it around her neck. "I hope you like it. I had it handmade it specially for you." Hebe felt the shiny stones with her fingers and smiled at Zax. "Shall we go down now? The guests are waiting for us." Zax extended his elbow and waited for Hebe to put her hand through it.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention, please? Let us all welcome our newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Wang Renfu." The emcee spoke through the microphone and the guests applauded as Zax led Hebe down the spiral staircase in the Tians' mansion.
"Can we have the newly weds propose a toast to their guests?" The emcee handed Zax and Hebe each a glass of wine. Everyone in the hall held up their glasses.
Hebe glanced through the people in the ballroom as she brought her glass down. Her heart skipped a beat as she caught sight of a familiar figure. She must be seeing things, Hebe assured herself. She shifted her gaze to the figure at the far corner of the ballroom and waited for him to turn around. The mysterious figure was talking to a dark-skinned man who whispered something into his ear before the man turned around and faced Hebe. She felt her heart drop in disappointment when she realised that the familiar figure was not who she expected it to be. He, like his friend, was also dark-skinned and spotted a goatee. Deep in her heart, she almost thought Lee Hom was still alive, but how could it be? Hebe looked away and followed Zax down the stage. Hebe decided to leave the ballroom and go outside for some fresh air. She left Zax entertaining his guests and started walking towards the balcony.
The noisy atmosphere in the ballroom was blocked out by the heavy glass door as she stepped into the balcony. She breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she was able to leave that place, somehow, she felt suffocated in the ballroom.
"You don't look happy to be married." All of a sudden, a low, coarse voice sounded behind her and broke the silence of the evening. Hebe turned abruptly and came face to face with the man she mistook for Lee Hom just minutes ago. Time seemed to freeze between them as Hebe stood rooted to the ground. Her heart was beating furiously. For some reason she herself could not explain, this stranger's presence reminded her of Lee Hom. Hebe avoided his gaze and turned away from him.
"I don't know you. Who are you to say that?" Hebe tried her best to sound calm.
"I'm..." The man stopped and cleared his throat. "But I saw you looking at me just now in the ballroom." The stranger stood beside her. "Perhaps...I reminded you of someone?" He raised his eyebrow curiously.
Hebe looked at him again. She could not help but to think of Lee Hom. Who is this man? Why did he remind her so much of Lee Hom. Lee Hom was dead!
"Who are you?" Hebe asked as she stared at the stranger. Before he could answer her, their conversation was interrupted by Zax.
"Hebe! Why are you here? You left without telling me." Zax walked towards them and placed his hand on Hebe's shoulders. Was it his imagination or did Zax really saw a look of uneasiness flashed through the stranger's eyes? Zax led Hebe out of the balcony and back into the ballroom, away from this man.
"Let us welcome our newly weds and their family members up on stage to say a few words." The emcee spoke again and invited Zax, Hebe and Old Wang up on stage.
"Thank you everyone, for attending my son and daughter-in-law's engagement party. From tomorrow onwards, HeTian Enterprise will have a new President, my son, Wang Ren Fu..." Hebe was half-listening to Old Wang. The mysterious stranger caught her attention again, he was making his way to the front of the stage, his friend following behind him. He had a smirk on his face.
"You're still talking happily about your son's engagement. I bet you're unaware of the crisis HeTian is facing outside America." The stranger interrupted Old Wang's words. Everyone in the ballroom became silent. Tension started to replace the blissful atmosphere of the room. Zax and Old Wang looked at him in disbelief. Who had the guts to spoil such an important occasion as of HeTian? After a long silence, Old Wang regained his composure and stared hard at the stranger.
"What do you mean?" Just as the words left Old Wang's mouth, one of his bodyguards came onstage and whispered something into his ear. No one could make out what the bodyguard was saying but everyone could see from the look on Old Wang's face that it was bad news.
"Dad, what's the matter?" Zax leaned forward and whispered to his father, but he ignored his question.
"Oh, you're not answering? Let me help you then. HeTian's collaboration with Renaissance Holdings regarding the construction of the resort in Thailand was recently busted for aquiring illegal license as well as using illegal immigrants. How would such a thing like this damage HeTian's reputation?" The stranger laughed to himself. Old Wang narrowed his eyes at him before whispering to the bodyguards for them to evacuate the guests from the ballroom immediately.
"So you're still alive?" Old Wang said coldly. The ballroom was now left with Hebe, Zax, Old Wang, the stranger and his friend.
"Of course! I wouldn't be fit to be the President of Homway Holdings if I let your men finish me off so easily." The stranger resumed his normal tone of speaking and walked up the stage. Hebe stared at the men in horror. What are they talking about? Homway? Lee Hom? That voice of his was impossible not to recognise! Hebe stared at the stranger. He glanced at Hebe and gave her a smile. "I will not let this engagement go on as planned."
Old Wang clutched his fingers tightly as anger raged in his body. He could not stand it any more. Previously, Homway's presence had already been jeopardising HeTian's stand in the industry, and now, their president had been spoiling his plans again and again. He will never let them continue what they're doing. He was this close to getting HeTian! No way is he going to give up now. Old Wang reached under his coat and pulled out a gun. In a split second, he was already pointing it at Lee Hom and was about to pull the trigger.
"NO!!!" Hebe dashed in front of Lee Hom without hesitation.

Author's note: Heyz everyone, this is the second last chapter. The finale's coming up next, but I dunno when. But I'll try to update as soon as possible. After that, I'll most probably be starting the second story on JR.'s character in this story. Well, do take note of Renaissance Holdings because it's gonna play a big role in the next story!
P.S: Thank you everyone who read this story and liked it! I would love to hear your comments for this story! Silent readers are greatly encouraged to comment!
