Chapter 5

Crying into your shoulder.

-JAE JOONG’S POV-

I refused to let myself get shocked anymore by the size of the dining room. I swear, it was the size of a football field! God!

“Jae Joong! Here you can sit here.” BoA said as she pulled out a random chair from the squared approximately-20-seated table. I obeyed immediately and walked towards the chair, thanking her silently as I sat down.

“Yun Ho you can sit here!” We both froze when she gestured to the seat next to me.

“Umma I want to sit alone!” He complained loudly, shooting me an unsatisfied look.

I felt my insides crumble a little.

‘And I thought we were getting along so well.’

I lowered my head slightly and bit my lip. ‘Urgh Kim Jae Joong why are you thinking like that? You hate him remember! God!’

“Yun Ho sit beside him! He’s your tutor and classmate. I see no problem in sitting beside him!” She snapped back and sat down opposite me. I mean us.

He frowned slightly but sat down next to me before crossing his arms, looking away from me.

“Don’t think that I want to sit beside you okay.” He mumbled softly, making sure that no one else could hear except for me.

I rolled my eyes and smirked, “Don’t worry. I don’t want to sit next to you either!” I hissed through gritted teeth and shifted my foots slightly till I found his own and gave it a hard jab.

“Ahh! What the fuck? Yah chicken!” He shouted and clutched his foot in pain as he swore under his breath.

“Yun Ho sit down and don’t swear! What happened?” BoA asked, fingering the glass of wine in front of her.

“Jae Joong stepped on my foot!” He accused and jabbed a finger in my face.

“It was an accident Yun Ho! I’m so sorry.” I looked at him, not forgetting to shoot him a pout and puppy dog eyes.

He widened his eyes a little and sat down immediately.

Was it my imagination, or was that a blush I just saw?

-YUN HO’S POV-

He jutted out his bottom lip and looked innocently, instantly and momentarily erasing all of my hate and resent towards him. My cheeks tingled a little as they grew slightly warm as I sat down, frustrated.

‘God why does he look so cute?’

I shook my head violently, earning weird glances from Jae Joong but I ignored them.

‘Something’s wrong with me. Seriously.’

-JAE JOONG’S POV-

“Do you prefer duck or steak Jae Joong?” BoA asked from opposite me.

I thought for a second, not familiar with either.

“What steak sauce is used Umma?” Yun Ho asked from beside me and she replied instantly.

“Grilled mushroom and pepper.”

“Give him the duck please.” Yun Ho said to one of the servants and he bowed before exiting the scene.

BoA raised an eyebrow at this and I did too.

“Why did you ask honey?” She asked, interested in what he was going to say.

“Jae Joong is allergic to mushrooms.” He replied as if it was no big deal.

She nodded and went back to reading the newspaper while I kept staring at him.

“How did you..?” I trailed off, knowing that he understood what I was saying.

He shrugged his shoulders and picked up his glass containing peach flavoured mock tail and brought it to his lips before taking a long sip.

“I saw last year when you accidentally ate a mushroom at the road side stall near our school. You ordered Kimchi ramen didn’t you? But they added mushrooms inside and you accidentally ate one. Your face turned red and you started throwing up so bad and Jun Su and Chang Min had to rush you home.” He chuckled at the memory and put his glass carefully down onto the table.

I was still unable to register what he had just said.

‘He actually… Cared about me?’

“How did you know? You saw it happen?” I asked, shifting my chair closer to him as I focused my attention on him.

He nodded, “I was with Yoo Chun and he decided to take a trip around peasant area and happened to see it.” I nodded slowly and smiled.

“Thanks.” I said, not even realizing that I had thanked The Jung.

He froze and turned to look at me, “What did you say?”

“Thanks.” I repeated and hid a smirk.

“For saving me from having that horrible experience again.” I said earnestly and beamed brightly at him. He jumped in his skin for a bit before sinking back into his chair and looking away.

“No problem.”

I laughed softly.

“I thought you would have ordered for me the steak instead.” I sipped slowly at the straw attached to the glass filled to the brim with coke.

I know I’m kiddish okay!

“Why?”

“Oh I don’t know. To do me in and then laugh at me vomiting my lungs out?” I replied sarcastically and shot him an amused smirk but he did nothing except become immensely preoccupied with his empty glass.

“Oh then maybe I should do that next time.” He scoffed and kicked his legs back before folding his arms and looking away from me.

Oh? I made him mad?

“Yah Jung you okay?” I asked as I reached out to tap him on the shoulder. He shrugged it off and upturned his smile.

“I’m fine.”

“Your food sir.” The servant said from behind me and I immediately retreated my hand and bowed in my seat and gawk at the sight before me.

“Wow.”

“How many times are you going to say that chicken?” He peered at me and let out a laugh.

“Shut up Jung!”

“You shut up first chicken.”

“Pay attention to your steak!”

“Then you pay attention to your duck and leave me alone!”

“You’re the one bothering me!”

“Well you’re the one who told me to shut up first!”

“Asshole!”

“Calculative!”

“Brat!”

“Wimp!”

“Spastic!”

“Weirdo!”

“Alien!”

“Chicken face!”

“Fat pig!”

“Flabby elephant!”

“Urgh shut up!”

“You shut up first then I’ll shut up!”

“Both of you stop arguing and start eating!”

BoA screeched from opposite us, pulling a stop to our brainless antics. We immediately shut up and I ate with my left hand, leaving my right to dangle aimlessly along my side.

Unknown to me, he was eating with his right hand and he like me, was also hanging his arm next to him.

Our hands accidentally came into contact when I moved my hand a tad too much and I immediately retreated it, blushing deeply.

He remained silent as well as he stopped chewing for awhile before going back to it.

“So Jae Joong, “BoA started and I raised my head to look at her.

“What do your parents work as?” She asked as she spooned another mouthful of soup into her mouth. I remained silent but Yun Ho spoke up for me.

“Umma don’t ask these kind of questions.”

“Why not? It’s not as if they’re dead or anything right?” She spoke casually as she twirled her spoon around.

“They are.” Yun Ho replied, glaring at his mother. I felt my insides churn and eyes fill up with tears as I pushed myself out of the chair.

“Excuse me.” I said, voice muted as I walked briskly out of the room till I was out of the house.

I bent down in the middle of the garden and sobbed my heart out.

“Umma… Appa… I miss you two…” I said in between sobs and clutched my chest tightly, not wanting to make any noises.

I heard some rustlings behind me before I saw a figure bend down next to me.

“Are you okay?” I lifted my head and saw Yun Ho peering at me.

I was surprised that he actually bothered coming out to find me. I quickly wiped away my tears and smiled at him weakly. “I’m fine.” I pushed myself up from the ground and turned to leave but he caught hold of my arm and pulled me into a completely unsuspected hug.

I froze a little.

“Jung..?” My hands pressed firmly against his chest/

“Let it out Jae Joong. It’s okay. Just let it out.” He soothed my hair down and pressed the beck of my head so that it was buried into his shoulder.’

I clutched onto his shoulder, as if my life depended on it and used one hand to hug onto his waist.

“Thank you.” I mumbled again into his shoulder.

Oh how I needed him at that moment.
