Chapter 6

I think I... I...

-JAE JOONG’S POV-

We stayed in the garden for God knows how long. I just couldn’t stop crying while he continuously stroked my hair, telling me that it was okay. I have never seen this side of him before but I have to say, I liked it.

“It’s okay Jae Joong. Let it out. I’m here.” He reassured me again and I tightened my hold around his neck.

“I was like you too.” He began.

His voice was cracked and he choked on his words and I knew it was a touchy subject.

I shook my head vigorously into his chest and brought one of my hands up to his lip to silence him and raised my head to look up at him.

“Don’t. You don’t have to tell me. Tell me if you want to, when you’re ready.” I gave him a small smile and he returned it before wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me closer towards me.

“Are you okay now?” He said softly into my ear.

Shock and pleasure shot through me down my spine and my insides felt churned. Why was I feeling this way?

I nodded slowly and he smiled brightly.

“That’s good to know. You want to go back in now?” He suggested hesitantly, afraid that if I go in, more harsh memories might be brought up.

I nodded and released my hold of him and took a step back.

“Let’s go then.” He said and took hold of my wrist and tugged me to follow him.

I looked at his tight grip around my wrist and a smile fluttered up to my lips.

‘Maybe he’s not as bad as I thought he was.’

And my feet instantly followed after him.

“Omo Jae Joong I am so sorry! I didn’t know what had happened! I’m so sorry!” BoA exclaimed loudly and bowed several times.

I croaked out a laugh and shook my head, “Kwenchana-yo BoA. I’m fine now.” I took a quick glance at my watch and it showed a 7.30.

“BoA I had better be making a move now.” I started, not wanting to tell her why.

“Why? You still haven’t finished eating yet!” She pointed to the seat, telling me to sit down but I shook my head politely. “I really have to go. My… my…” I thought of an appropriate excuse.

“His siblings will be worried.” Yun Ho finished for me, backing me up.

I turned my head to look at him and gave him a small smile, thanking him.

She gave a small pout and sighed before nodding. “Okay okay. Yun Ho see him out! Bye Jae Joong!” She waved cheerfully and I did too before walking back up the stairs to get my book bag and walking down again, not wanting to make Yun Ho wait too long.

“Let’s go.” He said and walked off slowly, expecting me to follow after him which I did.

“Bye Jung!” I waved and turned to walk out of the house but he grabbed my wrist, forcing me to turn around and look at him.

“Jung?” I questioned his hold.

“I’ll… I’ll drive you there.” He stuttered softly. I was shocked by his suggestion but smiled warmly. “Thank you.”

He opened the car door for me and I slid right in.

He turned on the engine and sped off.

“What’s the name of your delivery restaurant?” H asked, not taking his eyes off the road.

“Korean Heaven.” (URGH STUPID NAME!) I answered immediately and he nodded.

“You know Jung…” I started and he turned his head slightly to look at me.

“What chicken?” I rolled my eyes at the stupid nickname but continued anyway.

“Maybe… just maybe… you aren’t all that bad.” I said and I saw his jaw drop open and he turned to stare at me once the traffic light turned red.

“What..?” I nodded and looked down, embarrassed that I said that.

‘I bet he’s just going to make fun of me again. I shouldn’t have said that! Stupid Jae Joong.’ I scolded myself mentally.

“I guess you aren’t all that bad either.”

He said and started driving again when the light turned green.

I looked at him wide-eyed but smiled anyway.

“Thanks.”

The rest of the ride was silent but no words were needed anyway.

“Thanks for the ride.” I said when we reached the restaurant. He nodded I waved.

“Don’t stay up too late okay?” He said just before the door closed and sped off, not wanting to hear my answer.

I froze. ‘Don’t stay up too late okay?’ Maybe he does care about me. A small tugged at my lips and I walked into the restaurant, a bright smile on my face.

“Oh Jae Joong you’re in a good mood today huh?” Lee Teuk, my fellow delivery friend yelled and slapped my back, causing me to jerk forwards.

“Urgh don’t do that Lee Teuk!” I scolded but all I got was a conceited laugh.

“So how’s your Kang In?” I started as I took off my bag and hung it on the rack provided for us.

“Oh he’s fine. He’s holidaying in America with his parents now. But he did say he would be back next week so that’s another four days till I get to see my darling!” He clapped his hands together in glee and I sighed.

“And to think you’re nine years older than me.”

“Urgh shut up! You’ll feel like this when you fall in love okay!”

Yun Ho.

I widened my eyes.

‘What the fuck was that?! Yun Ho? God what am I thinking?’

“Hello? Earth to Jae Joong? Are you okay?” I nodded slightly, “yeah I’m fine. Just a little dizzy that’s all. No cause for alarm Lee Teuk.”

“Anyway, who was that guy just now who drove you here? And why are you so early today? You’re usually either late or just on time and even that is quite rare. Why so early today?”

“That guy was my student aka classmate aka my worst enemy. I’m tutoring him because his grades suck and I need the money and he drove me here because… I don’t know.” I gave up and slumped my shoulders.

Was it me, or was it trying to make my life easier?

“Ahh I see… So is that why you’re so happy?” I hesitated for a second before nodding my head. Lee Teuk’s nosy questions were like hell to dodge.

“Ohhhhkayyy…” I hid a smile as I thought of what Yun Ho had said to me.

“Let’s get to work then!” I said and threw my uniform on.

-YUN HO’S POV-

I sat there in my car, not driving, not moving.

“God what is Jae Joong doing to me?” I looked at my own reflection through the mirror and sighed. “Why am I feeling like this?”

I clutched my hair in frustration and banged my head back onto the car seat.

“Chill Yun Ho chill. Just because you felt happy when he hugged you just now doesn’t mean anything.” I ensured myself and slid back into my chair before whipping my phone out from my pocket.

“Yeoboseyo?”

“Yah Yoo Chun-ah, are you free now?”

“Yeap I am. Why?”

“Meet me at Club Mirotic?”

“Sure man but… why?”

“I’ll tell you there. And bring some clothes for me. I’m still in my school uniform.”

“Sure thing. See ya!”

“Bye.”

I hung up and massaged my temples. “God Jae Joong what are you doing to me?”

-AT CLUB MIROTIC-

“Hey Yun Ho!” Yoo Chun called out and I nodded in return as he passed me some clothes. “Hurry up.” He urged me and I did as told.

I grimaced at the clothes he handed me. A simple black shirt and jeans but put it on anyway. It was better than nothing.

“Done Yun Ho?” Yoo Chun called out from outside the cubicle and I pushed the door open.

“Let’s go.”

I dumped my school uniform into the bag that once contained the clothes that I was wearing and walked towards the direction of the club.

“Why so urgent today Yun Ho?” Yoo Chun asked as he took a sip of his Whiskey.

“I need to ask you something.”

“You could have always asked me over the phone.” He shrugged his shoulders and took another sip, sighing in content.

“It’s about Jae Joong.”

He sat up straight.

“Jae Joong? As in Jun Su’s brother?” I rolled my eyes.

“Do you have to relate everything I say to Jun Su?”

“I like him! Got a problem?” He glared back at me and I shook my head slowly. “No.”

“Urgh help me with my problem now!” I complained and rested my head on the table.

“Okay okay what happened?”

“I… I think I… There’s something wrong with me. I don’t feel like bullying him anymore.” Yoo Chun’s eyebrow shot up at my statement but I just nodded. “Yeah I know it’s completely weird.”

“Do you… Do you like him?” I nearly choked on air.

“What the hell? NO! He’s a guy, I’m a guy, of course I don’t!” I waved my hands in the air and glared at him but all he did was smirk.

“Are you sure?”

“Bloody hell I’m sure!” And kicked him in the shin, earning a painful yelp from him.

“Okay okay okay! Don’t need to get so violent Yun Ho!” He yelled and rubbed his wound slowly, wincing at the pain. I laughed at his pitiful state and stuck my tongue out at him.

“Hey you two, care to buy us a drink?” A pair of slutty girls made their way up to us and one of them sat down on my lap.

Usually I would have been fine with this and played along with them but this time was different. I felt very uncomfortable.

“Sorry but I’m not interested and neither is he.” I gestured to Yoo Chun.

“Oh come on just one drink?” She tried to pout but failed terribly.

“No.” I said firmly and pushed her off me.

“Urgh whatever. Come on let’s go.” The stupid girl dragged the other with her, clearly disappointed that she couldn’t get two hot smokin’ guys to fuck them senseless.

“Wow Yun Ho, first time I’ve ever seen you reject girls before.” He commented and patted my head, “I’m proud of you Yun Ho.” I shrugged his touch off and frowned, “I’m not a kid Yoo Chun.”

“You act like one.” And that shut me up because well, it was true.

“You sure you aren’t in love with Jae Joong?”

“I’m bloody sure now shut the hell up!” I pounded my fists on the counter and buried my head in my arms and sank back in my chair.

‘Am I..?

-JAE JOONG’S POV-

I stretched my body and muffled a yawn as I finished the last delivery for the day.

“Good work today Jae Joong!” Lee Teuk said as he patted my back and gave me a big smile.

I forced a smile and nodded.

‘Now I have to finished my Math homework and catch enough sleep.’

“Bye Jae Joong! I’ll be leaving first. Lock up after you’re done!” I gave him a small nod and waved goodbye to him.

I grabbed my bag from the rack and pulled out my Math textbook and glanced at the ten questions I had to finish.

“This’ll take me another hour. By the time I get home, it’ll be 3!” I complained and hurriedly penned down the answers for the questions.

-AN HOUR LATER-

I dropped my pen and fell flat on my face.

“God I’m exhausted.”

“So am I. I waited for you for an entire hour okay.”

I was shocked out of my wits and turned to the door and my jaw dropped open, refusing to close.

“J-J-Jung?!” I pointed my finger at him. He just nodded and pulled out a chair and sat next to me. “Why are you? How are you…?” A wave of questions waved over me and I could only get a fragment of each out.

“I was worried that’d you wouldn’t make your way back, I drove here.” He answered my questions with ease and grabbed my book bag before stuffing my textbook inside and grabbing my upper arm. “Let’s go. I’m sending you home.”

“Wh-What? Yah Jung! Let go of me!” He stopped in his tracks and turned me around. “Call me Yun Ho. My name is Yun Ho Jae Joong.”

I widened my eyes.

“You called me Jae Joong.” I stated flatly and he nodded. “Now get into the car.”

I hurriedly obeyed and sat in the front seat.

He drove me off to my apartment and pulled the car to a stop.

“Here we are.” He smiled a small smile at me and I felt my heartstrings get tugged at. “Thanks Jung.” He glared at me but I shook my head, “I’m not finished.”

“Thank you for letting me see that other side of you. Thank you for being there when I needed someone. Thank you for caring about me. Thank you for worrying about me. Thank you for being you Yun Ho.” I said it all in one breath. I said it so sincerely, it was almost impossible to see that we were worst enemies that hated each other’s guts.

I leaned in and gave him a hug that we both didn’t expect. I bashfully pulled away and walked up to my apartment, not wanting to face him.

‘God what is this? Why am I feeling like this? What is wrong with me?’ I opened the door hastily and look at the dark, empty apartment. I walked to Jun Su and Chang Min’s shared room and saw the two of them sleeping soundly.

I smiled and pulled the blankets over each of them carefully, making sure I didn’t wake them.

“Good night hyung…” Chang Min muttered, half-awake and I smiled. “Nigh Jun Su, night Chang Min.”

And closed the door behind me.

I tucked myself into bed and the last thing that I thought of before I feel asleep was… Yun Ho.
