Chapter 7

Changed thoughts.

-JAE JOONG’S POV-

“Hyung!”

What should I cook for breakfast? I cooked kimchi fried rice last week already and I’m getting quite sick of it…

“Hyung!”

Maybe I should cook something different for once. Like omelettes and bacon…

“Jae Joong Hyung!”

But I haven’t received my pay yet and bacons would cost a lot.

“Jae Hyung wake up!”

Is it me or is someone calling me?

“YAH JAE JOONG HYUNG WAKE UP SLEEPING BEAUTY!”

“Gah!”

I fell rather unceremoniously off the bed and onto the cold hard floor. I looked up and saw Chang Min and Jun Su looking down at me, clutching their stomachs.

“You two! Gosh what is it?” I exclaimed and threw my hands up in the air before making my bed.

“Hyung we’re hungry!” Jun Su whined and tugged at my shirt.

I sighed and glared at him, “You wake me up because you’re hungry?”

“But it’s already 12 noon and while you’ve been sleeping peacefully, we’ve been starving our heads off!” Chang Min groaned and another growl erupted form his stomach.

I looked at Jun Su who had the same expression as Chang Min and sighed, “Okay okay I’ll go cook now. Just wait awhile okay? What do you want to eat?”

“Kimchi fried rice with eggs!” Chang Min said immediately as he rubbed his hands together in glee. Jun Su looked defeated but nodded anyway. “Again?!”

He nodded, “Yup again. I like it! And Jae Joong Hyung’s kimchi fried rice is the best in the entire world!” Chang Min said again, praising me for being able to fry rice with kimchi and eggs.

I hid a smile and nodded my head. “Okay okay you win.” And pushed myself off the bed and slipped on my bunny slippers.

“You’re the best Hyung!” Chang Min yelled and shot Jun Su a smug look.

“Chang Min have you been bullying your hyung again?” Jun Su immediately looked up and nodded his head, “He insisted we eat kimchi fried rice instead of japchae!” Chang Min glared back at him and Jun Su stuck his tongue out.

“Okay I’ll cook japchae for dinner okay?” Jun Su beamed and shot Chang Min a sly smile, “Thanks Hyung!”

I walked towards the kitchen and opened the fridge.

“Eggs eggs eggs kimchi kimchi kimchi pork pork pork…” I sang to myself and patted down the cooled panels of plastic in search of what I was looking for.

“Hmm? Where are the eggs?”

I peered into the fridge and found none.

“Chang Min! Jun Su! Did you see my eggs?” I yelled and closed the fridge door, sure that I still had a few eggs the day before.

“Oh that. Heheheheh… We were busy throwing eggs at people from our apartment down to the ground level. Chang Min’s idea.” Jun Su said, an innocent look painted on his face.

I groaned and stared at him. “Chang Min!”

‘I’m sorry Hyung! I’ll go buy some more!” He defended himself and picked up his wallet but I shook my head.

“It’s fine Chang Min. I’ll buy it. You’ll most likely break everything anyway.” I jogged back to my room and threw on some decent clothes before heading out of the door.

“Be back soon Hyung! We’re starving!” Chang Min called out and I rolled my eyes, “Yeah yeah I got it! Stupid food monsters.” I added the last sentence in a whisper.

I dashed out of the house and walked briskly towards the nearest super market which was approximately twenty minutes away.

“God those two… I’m going to kill them the moment I get back!” I mumbled under my breath, not looking where I was going and accidentally bumped into someone.

“Ow!” The person yelled and I winced as my butt landed on the ground.

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t look where I was going!” I apologized, head bowed and body still sprawled on the ground.

“I can see that chicken.” I snapped at the nickname and looked up. “Yun Ho!”

He chuckled and held out his hand for me which I hesitated to take but did so anyway. “Thanks.”

“No problem. Why in such a hurry chicken?”

“I thought you were going to call me chicken anymore?”

“I like calling you chicken.”

“Suit yourself Jung.”

“Pig.”

“Frog.”

“Monkey.”

“Snail.”

“Annoying!”

“Selfish!”

“Conceited!”

“Asshole!”

“Miser!”

“Irritating!”

“Noisy now shut up!”

“Fine! Now you better shut up as well!”

“Whatever!”

We stared at each other, neither party continuing with their brainless argument.

“Urgh whatever. Anyway, what are you doing here?” He asked as he reached out and brushed the dirt off my shirt. I immediately blushed and looked down so that he wouldn’t be able to see it.

“I-I’m buying eggs for my brothers. They want to eat kimchi fried rice but we seemingly ran out of eggs.”

“Oh okay.” He nodded.

“Yah Yun Ho! Don’t walk so fast yo!” I saw Yoo Chun running towards us, clearly tired as he panted while his hands rested on his knees.

“Hi Yoo Chun!” I waved and he waved back, "Hey Jae Joong!”

“He’s going to the super market to buy some things.” Yun Ho stated and Yoo Chun nodded. “Can we come with you?”

Me and Yun Ho just stared at him, speechless, “What?!”

“Oh how sweet! You’re synchronized!” Yun Ho shot Yoo Chun a glare while I just blushed. Again.

“So can we? Can we?” Yoo Chun pleaded and I found no reason to say no so I slumped my shoulders and sighed, "Okay okay let’s go.”

“Yay!” Yoo Chun shrieked and clapped his hands together. “I’ll just run over there to pick something up. You two run along first!”

From the corner of my eye, I saw Yoo Chun whisper something to Yun Ho which resulted in him having to dodge Yun Ho’s almighty fist.

“Yun Ho?” He looked at me and increased his speed a little to catch up with me. “Sorry. Yoo Chun was being an ass.”

I chuckled, “I can see that.” And walked side by side with Yun Ho.

“What did he tell you?” I started.

Yun Ho instantly blushed and I laughed, “You’re blushing! Ahahahahahaha!”

“Shut up! You blush a lot too okay!”

“So? You look so much worse!”

“I do not!”

“Do to!”

“Do not!”

“Do to!”

“Do not!”

“Do to!”

“Urgh okay okay I look horrible okay?!” He threw his hands up in the air and glared me down but all I did was bask in my glory.

“Yes I agree completely!” I laughed and walked off quickly, not wanting to wait for him.

“Yah chicken! Wait up! Yah!” He called out but I didn’t slow down one bit. He reached out and grabbed my arm, turning me to face him for one reason or another.

“J-J-Yun Ho?” I decided to call him and he immediately let go.

“S-Sorry.”

I shook my head, “It’s fine. Let’s go before the two pigs at home start whining.”

We brisk walked to the super market and I went immediately to the eggs section.

“Why are you here anyway?” I asked him while looking for that familiar brand of eggs I always used. He looked up at me, “Huh? Yoo Chun told me to follow you.”

“No not that. Why are you here? As in why were you there when I bumped into you? What are you doing here?” He sighed and looked away before looking back at me.

“Yoo Chun wanted to see Jun Su.” He immediately said. I squinted my eyes and stared him down.

“No that’s not the reason. Tell me the real reason.” I urged and grabbed a carton of eggs.

“It is the real reason!”

“No it isn’t Yun Ho. I know you better than that.”

“Jae Joong…” He called and my heart thumped furiously against my ribcage. The atmosphere grew tense as he looked intensely into my eyes.

“Well?” I gulped down my saliva – and the desire to throw myself into his arms at that very moment.

Don’t ask me where that came from. I don’t know either. I mean, two men, stuck in the eggs section of the super market, wanting to kiss each other isn’t really on the romantic side now is it?

HOLY CHICKEN DID I JUST THINK KISS?!

Great now The Jung is influencing me to say chicken in every sentence I say. Stupid chicken.

… GAH!

“Okay fine. You’re smarter than I thought.” He took a deep breath and reached into his pocket before pulling out a pamphlet and passed it to me.

“What is it?”

“Just read it.”

I did. And I saw at the top in huge wordings, ‘CIRCUS CARNIVAL.’

“What’s this?” I asked, eyes still glued to the paper.

“I was just wondering… Do you want to go today?”

I shot him a suspicious look, “Why are you asking me? Are you going to do something to me again like throw me off the Ferris Wheel?” I bluntly accused and his shoulders slumped.

“Do you really put that little trust in me?” He asked, clearly hurt. I was taken aback by the sad look on his face and shook my head. “It’s not that… it’s just that, well, you’re being really nice to me and it’s not a very common thing.” I said in a as-a-matter-of-fact-ly-way. His eyes brightened up a little.

“It’s nice being kind to someone once in awhile.” He said and I nodded my head slowly, digesting the newfound information that he found being nice to me well, nice.

“That’s good to hear Yun Ho.” I said and pointed to the cashier, “Shall we go?” He nodded and followed obediently behind me. I hurriedly paid for the eggs and on the way out, saw Yoo Chun waiting patiently for us.

“Finally! Hey Yun Ho I have to go. It’s an emergency. My mother’s having some grandchild issues. I’ll go first okay?” Then it hit me. Oh right he isn’t coming back with me.

“It’s okay I’ll go with you.” He offered but Yoo Chun shook his head, “You go with Jae Joong. I’ll see you tonight.” Yun Ho hesitated for a moment or two before nodding his head. “Okay. Bye Yoo Chun.”

We stood there for awhile before Yun Ho broke the silence.

“I think… I think I had better go first. You go on home and cook for your brothers. I’ll see you tonight?”

My feet were rooted to the ground, not knowing what to say. He took my silence for a yes and turned to leave but I stopped him.

“Wait!” I called out, causing him to stop in his tracks.

“Yeah?”

“Do you… Do you want to come over?” I blurted now, not knowing what I was saying.

He turned to look at me as if I was crazy.

‘What?”

“Do you want to come over? You know, to eat lunch? Since I’m already going to cook.”

‘God Kim Jae Joong what are you saying? Why are you inviting him over?’

“Okay.” He said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

‘Great and he just had to agree.’
