[“After Five” pub – 9 plus at night]
He trotted in, and stood at the entrance, in solitude. He stared at them, in silence. The feeling was rather complex, contradicting and continuous. He watched them for another second, then retreat a step and dialed a number, speaking into the phone.
"TIM": Have you hugged enough? I am at the entrance.
TIM: Eh…ok, I’ll come out.
"TIM": Okay, I’ll wait for you.
TIM: (hang up) (to Helen) Helen, are you awake?
HELEN: (half drowsily) Yes, what’s the matter?
TIM: Just need to pass something to a friend outside. Give me a minute, ok?
HELEN: (smiles) Ok.
TIM: (places her head against the sofa) Take a good rest first, be right back!
[outside]
TIM: Hey!
"TIM": (probingly) What were you doing just now?
TIM: (shrugs) Just trying to console her, she’s unhappy!
"TIM": I know! That’s why I am looking for her.
TIM: (raises his eyebrows) Tsk… trust you to get jealous over a little matter! Didn’t you say you are me?
"TIM": I am not like you!
TIM: (helplessly) I don't know what to say!
"TIM": Then get going, but remember your promise!
TIM: I will leave her alone from now onwards, that is! Ok, she’s waiting, bye!
[inside]
"Tim" spotted Helen and trotted towards her, lifting her up into his arms.
"TIM": (holding her up) Silly Helen, what happened to you? (touches her cheek) So drunk now…
HELEN: (resting her head on his shoulder) Eh… you are back…
"TIM": Come, let’s go home!
HELEN: Go home? Which home? Your home or my home?
"TIM": Look at you, you’re so drunk! Let me call Sandy!
HELEN: (shouting) No! I don’t want to go home, leave me alone!
"TIM": Or you prefer to stay here? The pub won’t take you in! Come, let’s go!
[outside]
HELEN: Where are you bringing me to? I don’t want to go home!
"TIM": I’ll check you into a hotel then… come…
She was still standing unsteadily, and he helped her into the taxi. As the taxi drove off, the bright night lightings could be seen clearly through the window. Shining at different colors and frequencies, the blur images were reflected into their eyes. She blinks her eyes intermittently drowsily, her cheeks turning crimson. He held her hands tightly, and close his eyes to recall their past reminisces. They were sweet; painfully sweet! A drop of tear fell down and dropped on her hand, her eyelids twitched…
[Hotel room – 10 plus]
"TIM": (helping her to rest) Don’t move about, you need to rest!
HELEN: I’ve not had enough, I still want to drink!
"TIM": I’ll fetch you a hot towel, hold on!
HELEN: No, drink with me!
Thinking that she would slip into sleep soon after a few drinks, he agreed to her request and soon even he became drowsy.
HELEN: Tim, Tim… Tim… drink… drink…
"TIM": (forces his eyes to open) Ah… you’ve drank so much already, Helen!
HELEN: Eh… did I? (blurrily) But how come I don’t seem to feel drunk?
"TIM": Enough! Enough! Rest now… I… help… you…
HELEN: Tim!
Instantaneously, she grabbed one of his hands with hers, and gazed ever so tenderly into his eyes. She was drunk, but her gaze were relatively steady, at least enough to penetrate his heart. He gazed back, in unsure anticipation, and a contradicting desire. Rationality forced him to look away, and move away.
But she called him again, in a softer, gentler tone, seemingly that of a pitiful starving child pleading for immediate help. His mind wanted to stay rational, but his heart wouldn’t follow, whereas his body sat on the fence; he froze.
For a rare time in his life, the one minute seems to be tormenting him forever, in hell, the 18th level of hell, undergoing the pain of going up the knifed mountain and going down the boiling oil wok. It was a fierce struggle between the various levels of consciousness in his mind. His id says yes, his superego invokes a strong objection, while his pathetic ego was stuck between the two.
Then she gets an inch nearer and leans her head on his shoulder, as gradually as his heart would be afraid of accepting. The fight gets fiercer, and it finally came to an end soon. He turned around and secured her tightly into his arms.
Each of them now possess different sets of reminisces; the happy, and the sad; but the feelings of bitterness soon vaporized into the air…
Repeat *
@ 用我冀盼的雙眼
換你偶爾來一晚
用我無窮容忍 姑息你
但你視作等閒 @
Repeat #
如何自處 怎麼我今次
願意孤擲一注
為何可以 拋開了一切
為你一人 自棄森林 任性一次

Deceiving oneself and others (ATE1 sub-theme 4 by Bondy Chiu Hok Yi)
* Hoping that by the time you would suddenly gain enlightenment, it would not be too late
Hoping that by the time I would suddenly have regrets, I would not be hurt too deeply
Thereafter getting accustomed to it, even if I do not mind compensating with time
There will be a day when I get dejected and disappointed *
With your uncertain goodwill, you exchanged it for my most unforgettable experience
I have fallen for the prodigal, unable to let you take a fancy to only me
# Casting my youth as a single bet, in hoping to make you turn back and stay
Only wishing that at the end, you will feel guilty
And to regret that the love you contributed is insufficient #
REPEAT *
@ Using my hopeful eyes, to exchange for an occasional night visit
Using my inexhaustible endurance to overly tolerate you, but you regard it as insignificant @
REPEAT #
Where should I place myself? How come this time I am, willing to stake everything on a single throw?
Why could I abandon everything, just for you, giving up the whole forest, and be willful just for once?
