[Same day – Monday – 12 June 1999 – night – Ling’s apartment]
LIK: So you took Yip Wing Tim’s daughter out today?
LING: Yup. (sighs) She’s such an adorable kid, but pitiful to lose her mother at such a young age!
LIK: It would be worst if she loses her father as well!
LING: (questions) Lik, do we need to go to such extent? The kid is innocent!
LIK: I didn’t say I would do anything to the kid!
LING: But how are you going to take revenge on Tim?
LIK: There will be a birthday party for the kid on Friday?
LING: Yes, (thinking) but what are you thinking of? You can’t possibly want to kidnap her, huh?
LIK: Perhaps I’ll keep her for safeguarding purposes, the contract is on Saturday!
LING: I thought you could just do something to the contract and get it snatched?
LIK: But now Yip Wing Tim’s back, and I can’t guarantee things will not go wrong!
LING: Lik! Whatever you do, don’t involve the kid, she’s innocent!
LIK: Why do you care about that kid so much? She’s Yip Wing Tim’s daughter, not yours!
LING: What are you trying to drive at?
LIK: I don't know! Perhaps you still can’t forget him or something like that…
LING: (slaps him) I’m very sure of what I am doing! But on the contrary, I don't know what you are thinking! I don't know you!
LIK: (stubbornly) I just want to avenge Ah Gor, and retrieve what he ought fully deserve!
LING: (slams something on the table) Here’s what you want! Do as you deem fit!
With that, she trots angrily towards the door and slams it after her departure. Chi Lik stares at the door, still unrest from her slap and preaching. Then he picked up the envelope and opens it…

[Monday – 12 June 1999 – little Flora’s room – night]
Flora was sitting before her desk, and drawing something as her legs swings back and forth on the chair. Tim knocks and enters. Flora turns her head and took a look, then went back to what she was doing. Tim pulls a chair and sat besides her.
TIM: Hi, sweetie! What is it that you are drawing? Can I have a look?
She ignores him, while he just suppressed a disappointed sigh and tucks his head forward.
Resting on the desk was a little piece of drawing outlined and shaded in pencil. The clouds were grey, and stripes of lightning were lined out diagonally across the cloud, seemingly conveying the message of a thunderstorm prelude. The grasses were shaded in lightly, and a little girl was sitting on the grass on the bottom left of the drawing paper, looking up to the sky. At the top right hand corner was a little window, and an angel with pure white wings had her head stuck out and smiled at the little girl. Right below the little window was another pot of amalgamated thick liquid, and there was a devil climbing out of it.
The expression on the little girl’s face was that of helpless, vulnerable yet hopeful, ostensibly hoping for the angel to rescue her from the invading devil. The background of the drawing was shaded ironically darker than the grasses, and the clouds, seemingly providing a subtle hint to the location the ones in the drawing found themselves in.
Although unable to apprehend the drawing completely, Tim was indeed upset by what little Flora was trying to put across through the drawing, and he just puts a hand on her head, only to be pushed away. Then she got off her chair and jumped into her bed, pulling her blanket over her and turning her body against him.
He pressed his lips tightly and sits besides her, while she moves further away from him.
TIM: (softly) Flora, why are you ignoring Daddy?
She kept quiet.
TIM: Flora, what can I do to make you talk to me?
She kept quiet again.
TIM: What if I can make your wish come true?
FLORA: (said without turning her head) Liar!
TIM: I’m not lying! I saw Mummy yesterday!
FLORA: Liar! I sees Mummy everyday!
TIM: Liar!
FLORA: (turns around) I’m not lying! Mummy talks to me in my dreams!
TIM: That’s not counted! She appeared and see me yesterday!
FLORA: You’re lying! If she appears, then why didn’t she come and see me?
TIM: Because you weren’t with me yesterday! Or else you could have seen her!
FLORA: (sobs) Mummy don’t want to see me!
TIM: Mummy said you’re naughty and keeps ignoring Daddy, and Mummy doesn’t like to talk to disobedient kids!
FLORA: (innocently) If I promise not to ignore you, will Mummy come and see me?
TIM: (declared) Of course! Dearie, I told Mummy to come and see us on your birthday! She will appear and celebrate your birthday with you this year!
FLORA: Is that true?
TIM: Of course! (carries her up) Daddy won’t lie to you!
FLORA: Daddy if you lie to me, I will ignore you forever!
TIM: Let’s hook our little pinkies!
FLORA: (chuckles) Ok!
TIM: Flora, you can’t let Mummy see that drawing! She’ll be so upset!
FLORA: I’ll draw another one for her, will that do?
TIM: (smiles) Yes! And make sure you use more colors!
FLORA: I know! I will use all of Mummy’s favorite colors, and my favorite colors!
TIM: Then what about mine?
FLORA: You should like what we like!
TIM: Hmm… okie then! Do you want Daddy to accompany you here tonight?
FLORA: No! What if Mummy doesn’t see me in my dreams?
TIM: No, sweetie! We’ll meet Mummy in our dreams together, okie?
FLORA: Are you sure Mummy will come and meet us together?
TIM: You’ll see later! Let’s count sheep, ok?
FLORA: Nah, that’s so childish!
TIM: (widens his eyes) Childish? Then what do you suggest?
FLORA: Let’s play ‘Scissors, paper, stone’, the loser will get the face drawn!
TIM: Using the pencil?
FLORA: Using my crayons!
TIM: Oh my god!
FLORA: You promised!
TIM: Did I?
FLORA: I don’t care! You must play with me, or I’ll ignore you again!
TIM: Ok, ok…
