Chi Keung, Tim and Sandy were having a discussion when Meina dropped a sudden visit…
MEINA: Tim, I know where Flora is!
KEUNG: (probingly) How could you have known?
TIM: Yeah, how could you?
MEINA: (insistent) She’s with Ah Ling now, let’s go before it’s all too late!
TIM: It’s really Ah Ling?
SANDY: (assured) Just go if you have to, I’ll follow up the case!
KEUNG: Ok, thanks, Sandy!
TIM: (walks out with Meina) How did you know about the proposal thing?
MEINA: Erm… promise me you won’t be angry!
TIM: Hmm… ok.
MEINA: I asked my Dad for help because he happens to know one of the officers in the station.
TIM: Huh? Your Dad mixes with the police too?
MEINA: Yeah, because he used to work under him. And I got to look at the two proposals, and found this contradicting point. It was the use for the piece of land, and under footnote 11, luckily you changed the most important thing at the eleventh hour!
TIM: How did you know I did?
MEINA: (got into the lift) Erm… I just know. But why did you change the part anyway?
TIM: I looked over it again on Wednesday and made that change.
MEINA: Someone told you to do so?
TIM: Meina, is there something I should know?
MEINA: (looks away) Nope!
KEUNG: (gets out of the lift) So where’s Flora now?
MEINA: I followed them to an apartment in Deep Water Bay, I’ll lead the way!

Meina brought the two guys to the place she was referring to. Then she knocks the door repeatedly.
MEINA: Ah Ling! I know you’re inside! You can’t hide there forever! I know you called me and hung up! My caller-id displayed your number! Ah Ling! Please open up! Tim is worried about Flora! Please open up, Ah Ling!
TIM: Ah Ling, are you inside?
KEUNG: Ling! If you’re inside, please come out and explain yourself! I’m worried about you too!
MEINA: It won’t do you any good hiding inside, you know…
The door opens, and out came a little girl…
FLORA: (running to Tim) Daddy, why are you so late? I waited for so long!
TIM: (carries her up) Flora! Are you okay?
FLORA: Yesterday Suk Suk bought us burgers but they were so awful! Daddy I want fillet-o-fish, can I?
TIM: (petting her hair) Sure you can!
KEUNG: (curious) What Suk Suk?
LING: Erm… it’s my friend!
TIM: Cheung Chi Lik?
LING: (surprised) How did you know?
TIM: Ling, why did you bring Flora here? What is your intention?
LING: I thought you should have known everything by now!
KEUNG: Ah Ling! Did someone force you to do this? Did someone bring you here?
LING: Tim, Keung, I think I do owe you an explanation. I promise you I would be back tomorrow to explain myself, but I don’t think it’s very good to talk in front of the kid. Bring Flora home, she’s tired!
MEINA: She’s right, Tim! I trust her!
KEUNG: Me too!
TIM: (looks at the both of them) Ok, I shall see you tomorrow then, Ling!

[Tim’s apartment]
MEINA: (passes drinks) Have some water, Tim, Keung!
TIM: Thanks!
KEUNG: Tim, why didn’t you tell us earlier you made amendments to the proposal?
TIM: Because I started to be wary of Ah Ling, and you, Keung, I know you trust her completely, so I couldn’t tell you all…
KEUNG: So, will you be alright?
TIM: I don't know… (to Meina) How is Flora, Meina?
MEINA: She’s ok now, don’t worry! I’ll keep tabs on her and make sure I won’t lose her, okay?
TIM: That way I’ll be relieved!
KEUNG: Then think about yourself, Tim, think about the case! Why did you sound so confident earlier and so disheartened now?
TIM: I didn’t want to lose! I can’t lose, you know? I can’t go to jail again…
KEUNG: It’s good that you know that!
TIM: Don’t worry too much, Keung! Sandy just called and informed me the details Meina mentioned may be helpful in court, I shall be alright, I think…
KEUNG: Take a rest, Tim! You’re too tired!
TIM: (takes a deep breath and pats his friend) Thanks Keung!
Meina looks at the tired Tim and feels her heart giving way…

[The next day – Lik Tin Century]
Keung and Ling went into Tim’s office. Meina followed suit.
TIM: So you’re ready to explain now, Ling?
LING: I guess you must have known quite a lot, Tim!
TIM: Who is that Cheung Chi Lik to you?
LING: I know I did you a great disservice, but please trust me; I didn’t and won’t hurt Flora!
KEUNG: I know! Of course you won’t, Ling!
TIM: (looks at Keung, then at Ling) Then why did you bring Flora to the place? Was it Cheung Chi Lik’s residence?
LING: (takes a deep breath) Ok, I just want to be fair to you, Tim! I’ll tell you the truth.
KEUNG: The truth?
LING: (to Tim) Chi Lik is your buddy, Hui Man Biu’s brother, he had come to take revenge on you for his brother’s death!
TIM: He’s Ah Biu’s brother?
LING: Yes, he arranged me to work here and spies on you, so as to convenient him in making moves.
TIM: You stole my proposal for him?
LING: Yes, it was me!
MEINA: How could you do this, Ling? Tim was so good to you and this is how you repay him?
LING: I don't know… (to Tim) I guess one shouldn’t just get away scot-free being a murderer!
TIM: (adamant) I didn’t kill Ah Biu! He was my best friend and I won’t do such a thing!
LING: Lik said Biu Gor told him you hired killers for his life!
TIM: It wasn’t me, I didn’t! I only want him to face himself, face his heart, and face his conscience!
KEUNG: It’s true, Ling! (guiltily) I was the one causing Ah Biu’s death!
TIM: Keung, it’s not your fault!
KEUNG: If only I hadn’t give him that pill… (facing Ling) The real reason of his death was swelling of the brain caused by the allergic to that antibiotic pill I gave him!
LING: (shocked) Is that true?
KEUNG: The autopsy report is still with us, Ling! We didn’t present it because it was too late…
TIM: Keung, don’t blame yourself, everything is over…
LING: (mixed feelings) Which mean Ah Lik had been wrong since day one?
TIM: Ling, you can bring him here, we shall explain to him. (pauses) But one question, Ah Lik is working in Ming Tai, why did the proposal come under the name of Fok’s holdings?
LING: I have no idea! (confused) Tim, we owe you one! I’ll make sure I make it up to you!
With that, she exchanges a brief look with Chi Keung before running out of the office. She fetches her mobile and dialed Lik’s number hastily.
LING: Lik! I have something to tell you!
[LIK: I’m going for a meeting. Can we talk a bit later?]
LING: It’s about Yip Wing Tim!
[LIK: I told you not to go and look for him! I told you I can handle him! Why aren’t you listening to me?]
LING: We’ve misunderstood him!
[LIK: (didn’t get it clearly) What? We’ve what? (fetches his phone up) Stupid phone, low batt now!]
LING: Lik? Did you hear me? Tim’s not responsible for Biu Gor’s death!
[LIK: Ling! I can’t hear you! My phone is out of battery! I’ll get to you later! (hangs up)]
LING: Lik! Lik! (to herself) It’s so exasperating! Ah, he must be at Ming Tai now! I’ll go look him up…
She crosses the busy road, thinking that there were no incoming vehicles. The lorry blocked her view, and from behind came another car.
It was too late for her to avoid the car, as it knocks her down and her mobile slipped to the ground. Then she blacked out…
