Tim went to the hospital with a fruit basket. He was curious to see the doctor coming out from her room. He went forward and discovered that she had already woke up.
TIM: (opens the door and went into the room) Meina?
She opens her eyes slowly and spoke in a weak tone.
MEINA: Tim… you’re here…
TIM: Hey, don’t get up! (puts down the basket) Take care of your wound!
MEINA: (smiles) Okay, I know…
TIM: Good thing you woke up! I was so worried…
MEINA: Really?
TIM: Of course!
MEINA: Does that mean you’re concerned about me?
TIM: You shouldn’t talk so much because you’re still weak… (fetches the fruit basket) What fruit do you want? Apple? It’s good for you!
MEINA: Nah, I hate apples… why not you peel an orange for me?
TIM: Eh… sure! (picked up an orange) By the way, I am thinking of moving you to another hospital, what do you think?
MEINA: Why?
TIM: Because I’m afraid our assailant may spring another attack! Only I’m worried if it would affect your wound…
MEINA: I think I’m okay…
TIM: I assure you I’ll be extremely careful!
MEINA: (smiles) I trust you!
TIM: Here’s your orange! I’ll go wash my hands.

2 days later, Tim arranged to transfer Meina into another hospital while finding someone to track down Chi Lik on the other hand. For the whole week, Tim was often shuffling between the hospital and the company in order to take good care of Meina.
The following couple of weeks, Meina stayed in the new hospital. Her father would visit her every afternoon and bring her soup, whereas Tim and Chi Keung would visit her at night.
More than a month passed through and Meina had got closer to Tim and his family as she frequently drops in and have been treated as part of the family.
This particular day, Meina had been invited to dinner along with Chi Keung, Sandy and Tin Ling. After dinner, the few of them were having a chat in the living room.
KEUNG: Tim, our venture with the Taiwanese had been so successful, we should give it a toast today! Have you any good wine in the house? If not I’ll go get it. Everybody must drink in celebration today!
TIM: (objects) Meina can’t drink, it would affect her wound!
KEUNG: Who are you kidding? She recovered already, right Meina?
MEINA: Yeah, I want to join in the fun too!
TIM: It’s not fun drinking, perhaps we can play cards…
KEUNG: Argh, not fair, you’re defending her!
LING: (joins in) That you must see who she is!
KEUNG: (laughs) Yeah!
TIM: Unfair, Ling you’re siding with him so soon!
LING: I’m not!
SANDY: Well, of course she must be nice; Keung had been taking care of her after the accident…
LING: (sighs) Just a pity I still couldn’t remember the past…
KEUNG: Don’t fret over it, certain things do take time!
LING: Yeah, I agree…
KEUNG: Anyway, Sandy, I placed the info in your case yesterday. Is the proposal ready?
SANDY: Oh, you did? I was still looking for it today!
KEUNG: Then you’ll have to rush it through tonight!
SANDY: That can’t be helped!
TIM: (putting down the receiver) Hey guys, I need to go pick Flora up. Auntie is driving her here!
KEUNG: Auntie is driving?
TIM: (laughs) Well, she got a chauffeur!
KEUNG: Hee… oh yeah!
20 minutes passed through as Tim went downstairs and waited for Liza’s car to arrive and to pick the sleepy Flora up and carry her upstairs. Tim opens the door after tucking his keys in.
KEUNG: Hey you took so long! We’re finishing the fruits!
TIM: Yah, I’ll take Flora into the room first…
KEUNG: Hurry, or we’ll finish your share of mangoes!
Tim carried Flora into his room and tucked her into bed then came out and closed the door gingerly. Then he saw light from his own room and pushes the door lightly…
TIM: What’re you doing?
Meina, who was sitting on his bed, was apparently shocked by his presence and dropped the photos in her hand.
MEINA: (bends down to retrieve photos) Sorry, I’ll pick them up!
TIM: It’s okay…
Then he notices the familiar ring on her fourth finger.
TIM: Wait!
MEINA: (shocked) What?
TIM: (pointing at the ring) What are you doing with that?
MEINA: I…
TIM: Why are you playing with my ring? It’s not meant for you!
MEINA: (removing it) I’m sorry, I don’t mean it…
TIM: Yes, I am nicer to you now, but that doesn’t mean you and me… we… you can never replace her in my heart, get it?
MEINA: (cries) I’m sorry… I better get going now…
With that, Meina ran out of the room and Tim suddenly felt very sorry being so nasty to her. Over the past few weeks, he had more or less developed positive feelings towards her as he had found her to be rather different from the start when he gets to know her at first. Whether it was because of him or not, she had changed a lot; she became less rough, more gentle and tamed.
With that thought he rushed out of the room into the living room…
TIM: (shouting) Meina!
KEUNG: What happened? She left the house crying!
TIM: (stopped) Keung, it’s my fault, I have been too harsh on her, but I don't know if I should go after her… But I’m afraid she would misunderstand again…
KEUNG: If you have nothing towards her, why fear? What happened?
TIM: (guiltily) I scolded her…
LING: Hey Tim your mangoes, it’s the last few pieces… nobody’s eating the apples…
KEUNG: What about you, Sandy?
SANDY: I used to like to apples but that Helen had been buying only oranges, preaching how much vitamin C they provided, and since then I adopted the habit of eating oranges instead of apples… maybe it’s just habit!
KEUNG: So you snatched up the oranges! I just went to the loo for five minutes and they’re all gone!
SANDY: Hey it wasn’t me, Meina had a greater share!
KEUNG: You’re lying! She doesn’t take oranges because she likes apples!
TIM: How did you know?
KEUNG: Her dad told me last time!
SANDY: But she really finished the oranges and didn’t touch the apples at all!
LING: Yeah, I can testify to it!
KEUNG: (scratches his head) That’s weird!
SANDY: (opens her case for something) Keung, is that to fool me?
KEUNG: (confused) What?
SANDY: The proposal! (holding it high) You got some other lawyer to draw it out for you?
KEUNG: Of course not! You’re Lik Tin’s representative lawyer, why would we need to hire another one?
SANDY: Then how come the proposal is done? You said you put it in yesterday only…
KEUNG: I don't know! Ask you! Perhaps your colleague did it for you?
SANDY: We were at Lik Tin yesterday, only Lik Tin’s employees and you guys were around!
KEUNG: We guys? (thinking) Me, Tim, Ah Ling, Meina…
It was only Tim who was standing there and keeps his mind in cogitation…
TIM: (to himself) I’m so stupid! I should have known that earlier!
Then he rushed out of the door…
