It was a warm and breezy morning. Yellow orioles were chirping merrily away on the tree in the hospital garden. A few drops of morning dew were still visible on the surface of the green leaves.
The automatic sliding door leading from the hospital to the garden was opened, and a young girl in her snowy white robe emerged behind the door. She was about to approach the couple sitting on the first bench when a pat lands on her shoulder.
KEVIN: Hey, don~{!/~}t disturb them, I think they need some peace!
FLORA: (pouts) Are you saying I~{!/~}m noisy?
KEVIN: Well I don~{!/~}t mean that, (softer) although as a matter of fact, you are.
FLORA: (crosses her hands) Hey I heard that!
KEVIN: Sorry, I was just kidding!
FLORA: (laughs) Cool it! Dr. Hui, don~{!/~}t you have to go patrol the wards?
KEVIN: What about you, Dr. Yip?
FLORA: Officially not yet! Are you laughing at me?
KEVIN: Of course not, but all these internship are just a breeze for ya!
FLORA: (staring at the couple) It hurts me so much~{!-~} to know I can~{!/~}t do anything to help the one I love most~{!-~}
KEVIN: (comforted) Don~{!/~}t be like that, Godpa won~{!/~}t blame you!
FLORA: I~{!/~}m not worried whether Daddy blames me~{!-~} (thinking) How would you ever know~{!-~} how it hurts to lose the one you love most? I studied medicine because I thought I could~{!-~} (stops) But now I just hope the whole family would be together to celebrate Daddy~{!/~}s 60th birthday~{!-~}
KEVIN: Well, I didn~{!/~}t know, because I wasn~{!/~}t old enough to know what happened then~{!-~} but I will always miss my Dad and Mum~{!-~}
FLORA: There are certain people in the world~{!-~} no matter how far they have gone~{!-~} I will miss them forever~{!-~}
KEVIN: Flora, don~{!/~}t be~{!-~}
VOICE: Are you talking about me?
Both of them turn to the direction of the voice. Kevin raises his eyebrow at the sight of the stranger, while Flora puts on a wide grin.
FLORA: (exclaimed) Gallen!
KEVIN: (surprised) Gallen? Our neighbor?
Gallen saunters towards them.
GALLEN: (grins) Kevin, how can you be a doctor when you have such a poor memory?
FLORA: Hey, when did you come back?
GALLEN: (lifts up his luggage) My plane just landed a few hours ago, I haven~{!/~}t even been back at home!
FLORA: Why not?
GALLEN: Because I have something that I have yet given you~{!-~}
FLORA: Oh?
A bright grin appears on Gallen~{!/~}s face as he took out a lollipop bouquet behind the luggage. Kevin opens his mouth wide while Flora chuckles. Then Gallen pushes the bouquet forward.
GALLEN: For you!
FLORA: (looks the bouquet) Argh, this is not too healthy for me!
GALLEN: Well, if you ask~{!-~} (lifts his chin up) I could help!
FLORA: How many years have I not seen you, Gallen?(thinking) 18? 20? And you still love lollipops as ever!
GALLEN: (protested) No, we both love them! Always!
FLORA: (to Kevin) I think you should help him do a complete checkup, Kevin!
KEVIN: (confused) Huh?
Flora and Gallen look at each other and laughs, while Kevin finds himself in a rather awkward position~{!-~}

On the other side, Tim and Helen were chatting over their precious daughter.
HELEN: Is that the little Gallen who used to live next to us?
TIM: Wow you could still recognize him?
HELEN: I merely guess, because I thought I heard Flora calling him~{!-~} this daughter~{!-~} (sighs)
TIM: Flora had nothing for you to be worried about, Helen! She takes after you!
HELEN: It~{!/~}s not good to be me.
TIM: Well, she has that extra wittiness thanks to me! So she won~{!/~}t be bullied!
HELEN: (chuckles) Are you praising her or yourself?
TIM: (grins) Both~{!-~}
HELEN: It~{!/~}s getting a bit cold~{!-~}
TIM: (wraps his jacket and his arms around her) Is this better?
HELEN: Yeah~{!-~} (coughing)
TIM: (holds her hands) Helen, if it wasn~{!/~}t for me, you would have a better life~{!-~}
HELEN: Why do you say so?
TIM: At least you could have live longer!
HELEN: Silly, you mean you caused my illness?
TIM: Indirectly, yes!
HELEN: About the story you told me?
TIM: It~{!/~}s not a story, it~{!/~}s true! I will die soon, too!
HELEN: (laughs) Here you go again~{!-~}
TIM: I shouldn~{!/~}t have made that silly wish, but again, I wouldn~{!/~}t want you to see me die~{!-~}
HELEN: Stop talking about death. Actually, it~{!/~}s not all that frightening~{!-~} as long as we have lived our lives to the fullest~{!-~}
TIM: 25 years is not enough for me~{!-~} it just flew through like an arrow~{!-~}
HELEN: (smiles) I~{!/~}m glad to hear so~{!-~}
TIM: Why?
HELEN: Because only when you are happy will you feel time is flying~{!-~}
TIM: You don~{!/~}t need me say it to know it~{!-~}
HELEN: I feel heaven is already watching over me~{!-~}
TIM: You are too kind~{!-~} even if others snatch away your things, you won~{!/~}t fight for it~{!-~}
HELEN: There is no such need since heaven had assigned everything for us~{!-~}
TIM: Nope, I had to fight for mine~{!-~}
HELEN: Why be so insistence? Since we can leave nothing in this world once we~{!/~}re gone~{!-~}
TIM: There will always be lovely memories in the heart of our loved ones~{!-~}
HELEN: My most unforgettable memories would be those with my family~{!-~} (closes her eyes)
TIM: Me too!
HELEN: I would never forget~{!-~} Daddy, Mummy, Flora and you~{!-~} (winces) The sun is coming~{!-~}
TIM: Come lean on me~{!-~} (puts his hand on the side of her head and shields her eyes)
HELEN: It~{!/~}s always such a warm feeling, and it~{!/~}s so comfy here~{!-~} I feel sleepy~{!-~}
TIM: (smiles) Then take a nap Helen, you~{!/~}ll be safe with me~{!-~}
HELEN: (closes her eyes with a smile) I know~{!-~}
She moves closer to him and buries her head onto his chest~{!-~}
TIM: It~{!/~}s been some time since I last visit my Dad and Mum in Australia. Each time they would be so happy when we visit them, because Flora, being a glib-talker, would knows best how to coax her grandparents each time. I missed the times when the few of us get together and have a chat. Talking about it, I think we should pay your parents a visit with Flora next week, they must be missing Flora too~{!-~} (looks at her) What do you think, Helen? (seeing she has no response) Huh? How? (shakes her lightly) Helen? Did you hear me?
There was a slight shiver traveling down his heart, as he squeezes her hands lightly in his. He feels the warm in it was fading off. Then he puts his finger weakly under her breath.
He hugs her tighter.
TIM: (with a trembling voice) Helen, don~{!/~}t~{!-~} don~{!/~}t scare me~{!-~}
There was still no response from her. He seems to come to acknowledge the fact after a few tries.
TIM: Helen~{!-~}
He felt several spasms in his heart as his tears gave way~{!-~} it hurts!
TIM: Why~{!-~} why must it come so fast? I~{!/~}m not prepared at all, Helen!
He gazes at her face; there was still a smile on it. Then he sticks his head to hers and a drop of tear slip down between their faces, onto his hand. He stared painfully at it, and the memories rush back~{!-~}
TIM: Almighty god, if only you could grant me another wish~{!-~} I only wish for us to be together again next lifetime~{!-~}
Upon completing his sentence, he felt a prickly pain in his heart, as he clutches on it. He struggles to moves nearer to her and places a gentle kiss on her face.
TIM: (struggling to say) Helen, I am~{!-~} I am so glad I finally~{!-~} finally took care of you until the last moment of your live, and now~{!-~} my~{!-~} my mission for this~{!-~} this lifetime shall be~{!-~} be completed~{!-~}
He encloses her tautly in his arms, hoping his thoughts would suppress his pain, hoping she would bring him away in the shortest possible time.
TIM: Helen wait for me, we~{!/~}ll walk the path together~{!-~}
Her hands were still in his~{!-~}
His heart was still with her~{!-~}
As they took the final step to complete, the last stage of their lives~{!-~}
As a stretch of rainbow emerges on the clear blue sky~{!-~}

Dear all, thanks for reading all along or at least tis finale, haha... (ok this is no time for laughing, sorrie) Well I did hesitated posting tis chp and tot of changing it hearing 2 pieces of bad news, but eventually still decided to complete it anyway. This is the end, and just try to comment kie? :P
Anyway, since I'm not gonna have another chp for author's notes, I'll just thank all the readers here for reading, esp my 6 sisters and dear Ka Jai. Hope you all dun mind I'm not listing the names out, cuz I think you all know who you are, yeah!
Last thing... there'll be another short little story about Tim and Helen (if you want another version, haha...) This was originally set to be a Chinese fanfic cuz I had long wanted to try out one, but well... eventually it is decided to be Chinese/English, so everybody can read :P
