[5th day – 14 August 1994 – Sunday – hospital]
HELEN: (passes a hot drink) Luckily you’re alright, if not I will feel so guilty implicating you!
TIM: Can I have black coffee instead?
HELEN: (laughs) No! I don’t think that’s very good for you!
TIM: Ok then! I’ve have it when you’re not around!
HELEN: (hitting his shoulder lightly) How could you!
TIM: Ouch! I’m still injured, mind you!
HELEN: Sorry! Are you okay?
TIM: (giggles) Hehe… just teasing you! Look at how uptight you get!
HELEN: (gives an awkward smile) How bad can you get!
CLEANER 1: (spotted Helen) Hey Miss!
HELEN: (turns around) You’re calling me?
CLEANER 1: Yup! (to Tim) You must be her husband then!
TIM: (got a shock) Huh?
HELEN: (trying to deny) I think you make a mistake!
CLEANER 1: Nah, I won’t want to take advantage of others! You were the one alright! Here is your change!
HELEN: Ermm… sorry, but I think you really made a mistake! (to Tim) I’ll collect your antibiotics for you! (walks away)
CLEANER 1: (handing over some money) Here, mister, take this! (walks away)
CLEANER 2: (to her colleague) Perhaps you really misidentify her!
CLEANER 1: Nah, I’m sure! She was crying so heartbrokenly when she heard the news about the plane crash, as if the one who died was her husband, and she just tuck me the bill for the coins to make a call!
CLEANER 2: (walking further away) Then perhaps she can’t recognize you!
CLEANER 1: No idea…
Tim shifted his attention from the two cleaners to Helen. He knew she must have been worried for him then. Now it was his turn to feel guilty.
HELEN: (back with medicine) Your medicine! Why are you in a daze?
TIM: Nothing the matter!
HELEN: (mobile rings) Hello?
[BARRY: Helen, where are you now?]
HELEN: Erh… I’m… outside!
[BARRY: Where did you go just now? I was speculating what had happened to you!]
HELEN: I’ll be back in a moment!
[BARRY: Are you with Tim?]
HELEN: (taken aback) Huh?
[BARRY: I heard his voice.]
HELEN: Erh… oh yah… I just happen to run into him. If there’s nothing else, we’ll talk when I get back, ok?
[BARRY: Ok, bye!]
TIM: You need to go now? I was still expecting a treat!
HELEN: Next time, maybe!
TIM: (smiles) Sure! (stands up) My car is not here. I guess I’ll hail you a cab!
[another corner of the hospital]
NURSE: Mr. Kwan, here is your medicine! Remember not to lose it again!
BARRY: I won’t! (smiles) Thanks!

[Same day – evening – garden]
"TIM": (imploring) What happened exactly? Just now…
MAN: (lecturing) You’re fortunate not to be repelled back! I told you – 3 metres!
"TIM": I forgot!
MAN: And you actually tried to reveal what you shouldn’t to Sum Wing Yan!
"TIM": You don’t understand! I feel bad causing their deaths, and it’s even worst when I can do nothing about it, and witness their dooms!
MAN: Don’t worry on that account! You won’t be here long enough to witness that!
"TIM": Is there really nothing I can do?
MAN: Toe the line! There is a reason for every occurrence, and it’s not up to you to decide that! Please don’t create any trouble for me, or else I’ll have no choice but to send you back earlier!
"TIM": (sighs) I don’t even know why I am back here for since I can change almost nothing!
MAN: As I said, mind your own business and steer clear of the others!
"TIM": I’ll try to!
MAN: You must!
"TIM": Fine!
MAN: He’s here, I’m gone! (disappears)
TIM: (walking towards him) Hey!
"TIM": (shouting) Stop! 3 metres!
TIM: (stopped) Hey! You asked me there and you didn’t appear!
"TIM": Sorry, got held up!
TIM: Ok! Now what do you want from me?
"TIM": I’ve got a few questions for you!
TIM: Shoot!
"TIM": (thinking) Erh... What is Helen's favorite flower?
TIM: (puzzled) How did you know Helen?
"TIM": Just answer my question!
TIM: (thinking) Lilies… tulips… birds of paradise…
"TIM": Hey, how come they are so many?
TIM: (shrugs) She seems to fancy every type I give her!
"TIM": (thought to himself) What an idiot! (to Tim) What books does she like to read then?
TIM: Books on law?
"TIM": Favorite food?
TIM: (shrugs) Western food?
"TIM": (to himself) Oh my god, I feel like strangling him! (to Tim) Hey! Am I asking you or the other way round?
TIM: I can’t fathom your intention!
"TIM": Neither can I fathom your thoughts!
TIM: Can you just be kind enough to tell me what you want in a straightforward manner?
"TIM": Ok, one last question and I’ll let you go!
TIM: And that is?
"TIM": Do you like Helen?

[5th day – night – Helen’s and Barry’s apartment]
Helen passes a cup of water to Barry in the study room.
HELEN: Take a rest! It’s late now!
BARRY: (pauses his work) Helen…
HELEN: Uh huh?
BARRY: I have something to tell you!
