She took time dressing up this time.She picked up a more mature dress this time.She even have to buy a new one,for she cannot find anything in the closet that will fit the occasion.She picked an electric blue dress with a simple classic cut that is just above her knee,trying to be mature.She even put on make up for the occasion,though she usually doesn't put any make up at all.
She was ready before Jiro arrived to pick her up.He looked so surprise when he saw her,but you see the smile and the twinkle in his eyes.
"You really looked good today Hebe.You are so beautiful,breathtakingly beautiful,and I will be so proud to show you off to my parents and sister." Jiro said.
Jiro bowed his head in greeting to Hebe's parents and then they left.Hebe was uncomfortable and it adds up that Jiro was looking at her in a different way.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Hebe asked with irritation.
"Cause you looked different.You are different from the usual ,not that I don't love the Old you." Jiro said with a smile.
"I hope you are not laughing at me." Hebe said."I am having a hard time as it is." she said as she pouts.
"Of course not.I love you no matter what,just remember that always." Jiro said as he took her hand and kissed it.
Hebe smiled at him."you really mean that?you are not giving me the round around are you?" she asked.
"Of course I mean every little things I said.I really love you Miss Hebe Tian Fu Zhen." Jiro said."And what is your answer?"
"Of course I love you too.You know that already.In fact I won't be in this dress if I don't love you."as she laughed.
"I am glad to hear that.And I want to be the only one for you." Jiro said.
"And I better be the only one for you too." as she gave Jiro a kiss on the cheek.Just when they stopped in front of a big house,it is more that the building in the apartment where they are staying.The gates open up,as Jiro went in and parked the car in the garage.
"Come on,they are waiting for us." as Jiro took her hand.
They went past the huge door on to the entry foyer.Antiques abound in the house.Just on the entrance of the house spoke of wealth and elegance.Hebe stopped,overwhelmed by the richness and grandeur of the house.
"What is wrong?Don't be afraid." Jiro said as he put his hand on her shoulder."Remember what I told you?"
Hebe just nodded her head ,as Jiro ushered her in as he put his hand in her hand,her hands were cold and sweaty.Jiro's parents were in the living room once they walked in,as their eyes went on her.They looked at her from head to foot,as a smile broke in Mrs Wang's face.
"Mom,Dad ,this is Hebe,my girlfriend." Jiro said.Hebe smiled and bowed her head.
Mrs Wang came to her and took her hand and smiled."I am glad you can make it today.I have been asking Jiro to bring you over." she said."I've been wanting to meet you.I want to know the girl that caught my son's eyes."
"I am glad to meet you Mam and Sir " Hebe said and then looked at Jiro's Dad who is looking at her unsmiling."Happy Anniversary."
"You looked familiar,I think I have seen you before," Mr Wang said."Well anyway welcome to our home." he continued.
And then a beautiful girl came in with a handsome guy in tow.She looked familiar ,and Hebe remembered that she was the girl who asked her for Jiro's address before .The girl she got jealous with before way back in the old place where they met.Now it seems so long ago.She may not remembered her then,for she was very young.
"And yes this Ariel my very dear sister." Jiro said in introduction to her sister."And this is Hebe ,my girlfriend."
"Nice to meet you.Finally a girl for my brother.I am glad." Ariel said with a smile."And this is Joe,my husband."as Joe and Hebe smiled at each other.Ariel's husband seems to be nice.He is a man of few words and polite.
And then there's another group of people coming over,and Hebe recognized her as Tiffany ,the girl that saw her and Jiro kissing in his office.The one who walked away.
"And Hebe you know Tiffany,you have met already and this is her parents Mr and Mrs Hsu,this is Hebe my girlfriend." Jiro said."They are my Dad's friends and yes they are also business partners."
"Oh Jiro,where have you been hiding her all this time?" Mrs Hsu said."It is nice to meet you.Finally somebody have caught his heart again."
Then somebody came around serving champagne for everybody.Each one of them took a glass and Hebe did the same.
"I want to make a toast for both of my parents,they may have more loving years to come and to my brother and his girlfriend Hebe,welcome to the family,finally a rightful girl for my brother." Ariel said. as they drink to the toast.Tiffany looked at them unsmiling.
And then finally,it is time for the feast.They prepared such a lavish feast for dinner.The dining room was huge with a beautiful crystal chandelier in the middle.The table was long and beautiful,the chinaware and the silver wares on the table spoke of elegance and fortune.Hebe was overwhelmed by it all,as she drank some more of the champagne in the glass.
There was a continuous flow of conversation during dinner.They talked of everything under the sun,but Mrs Wang forbade them to speak about business over the dining table.All Hebe have to do is listen to each one of them without contributing much to the conversation.And before she knew it ,she have consumed the whole glass of champagne in her hand as the server poured her some more.Jiro eyed Hebe suspiciously.She have been drinking more than her share and more than she can handle.She ate very little of the food that was being served,and it didn't helped that she didn't eat anything the whole day because of the anxiety and excitement.
When they have to move on to the next room for the tea and dessert,Hebe tried to get up,and she felt the whole world spinning around her.Good thing that Jiro was too quick to hold her and was able to support her,before she made a complete fool of herself and fell on her face,and the party have started to move in the next room,so nobody noticed it but Jiro.
"What is wrong?Don't tell me you are drunk." Jiro whispered to her ear so that nobody can hear."Have you ever drank before?"
Hebe shook her head.She have never drank before ,she is only eighteen.Did Jiro forgot her age? Maybe Jiro never told his parents about her real age,and they thought that she is of age to drink.
"Alright just hold on to me.You should never have drank that glass of champagne." Jiro said in alarmed and irritation.."And you barely touched your food."
"I am sorry.I really am sorry." Hebe said almost in tears now.
"Alright,it is too late now.I'll make you a strong coffee and you have to drink it." Jiro said.He saw one of the maid as he ordered a coffee for Hebe.
And then Ariel came out and found them in the hallway. "There you are ,two love birds,we were wondering where have you been." Ariel said.
"Ahh I am just showing something to Hebe,isn't it honey." Jiro said trying to cover up Hebe.
Hebe smiled and nodded her head.
"We will be in there in a minute." Jiro said.
And then the maid came with a strong coffee in hand as Hebe gulped it down right away ,Jiro felt guilty,she must be very nervous today,coming over here.And Jiro looking at her so innocent and so helpless,his heart aches for her, and as he put his arms around her and pull her closer to him for a hug.
"I am sorry too.This must be very hard for you." Jiro said.Hebe looked at him and saw the love and tenderness in his eyes,as she forced a smile.
"How are you feeling now?" Jiro asked.
"A little better.Just don't leave me by myself.Stay on my side all the time." Hebe pleaded.
"Of course,I will be by your side." Jiro said as he took her hand and lead her to the next room for tea and dessert.
The night came slowly for Hebe ,as they continue their endless conversation about economics,politics and business. And she was finally glad when the night was over and it is time for goodbyes.Mrs Wang was awfully nice and also Ariel but Tiffany's presence made her insecure and unsure of herself and what she have to say.Tiffany is always elegant,poised and confident.She wondered why Jiro have not chosen her instead of her,the not so confident and foolish Hebe.
They said their goodbyes for the night,and Hebe was only too glad to hop in Jiro's car and go away from his house.Jiro eyed her with an amused smile.
"So how do you feel now?" Jiro asked.
"A lot better now,thank you." Hebe said."I felt so foolish drinking the champagne and all."
"So next time you should know better and I don't want to see you drinking again." Jiro said.
"Yes Boss,no more alcohol from now on." Hebe said."Are you mad at me?"
"Why would I be mad at you? In fact I feel so sorry for you, for you have to go through it all.Maybe we should just eloped and get married without much of a ceremony." Jiro said.
Hebe laughed."Eloped and get married,are you kidding?"
"I am not kidding,I mean it.Marry me now Hebe,you don't have to work,you don't have to finish your studies,your job is only to make me happy and to keep me company for the rest of your life.And I am quite an easy man." Jiro said.
"I can't,you know I can't,I am way too young to get married.
You promised me you will wait for me." Hebe said in alarmed.
"What if I cannot wait anymore,what if I want you now?" Jiro said as he stared at her in all seriousness.
Hebe got confused and scared."But if you love me,you will wait for me." as tears formed in her eyes.
Jiro saw the tears and the confusion and the fear in her eyes.She is not yet ready for him,as he took a deep breath and sighed.He took her in his arms and wish that he can take her home with him,take her home as his wife.....but it is still a long wait for him.....For now he should be just glad and be content to hold her in his arms and to kiss his lips now and then....
