The ride on the way to the restaurant was quite awkward for Ella.They rode in Jiro's car,as Jiro and Ella sat in front and Chun at the back.Ella was only too aware of Chun's eyes behind her.As usual,Jiro is in a jolly mood and he just keep on talking,unaware of the tension between the two.
"So,how's the big US of A.?" Jiro asked."Did you meet anybody interesting? Or is it all business as usual?"
Chun smiled at his question."No it is all business.I really want to get back soon.But I can't.you know the Old Man." Chun said.
"Well you have to learn to say no sometime.Although i know one instances when you said No to your Old man." Jiro said,in a teasing tone."So do you still get in touch?"
Chun just smiled."You know it is none of your business if I still see her or not.But I have moved on." he said.
"That is nice to hear,that my friend have move on and I might say to the next girl?" Jiro asked.
"I thought ,we have something special going on,but I guess I was wrong." Chun said."I just learned that she have been dating someone now.I guess I am too late."
Ella can hear what Chun have been saying and her heart is screaming and wondering if the girl he is talking about is her.She wants to know what is on his mind.She wants to know what is his feelings toward her.It seems like it is weird that Chun can only open up to Jiro ,the guy that she has been going out with.
"What about you and Ella?" Chun asked.
"What about us?" Jiro and Ella answered in unison,as they looked at each other and laughed.Chun have seen how they looked at each other and he felt his heart ache.
Jiro laughed."I am not saying anything." as he chuckled.
Ella just kept quiet.Chun did not understand what do they mean,but it is clear that they have a better understanding of each other,than him and Ella.
They finally arrived in the restaurant and Arron and Hebe was already there.They were on their second drink,and Hebe was so surprised to see Ella with Chun and Jiro.She did not say a word but understood that her friend is in awkward situation.
Arron stood up when they saw them. The guys greeted each other,as Hebe was introduced to Chun .He nodded his head in acknowledgment.Hebe stared at Chun,the first time that she was able to see him face to face and she smiled to herself.No wonder Ella has been crazy with this guy,he is handsome and there is something about him,that you just can't pinpoint.Arron nudged her elbow when he noticed that she was staring at him.
Just when they are about to order their food,a girl walked in with a friend in tow.And she recognized Chun right away,as she walked towards him.
"Chun,what are you doing over here,I thought you are busy in the office." she said.
"Oh,hi Selina,no actually this is not planned and Jiro happened to pass by in the ofice.Why don't you join us?" Chun asked.
Selina looked at his companion,and he nodded his head.
"Sure why not.Oh so the old gang are here.Jiro and Arron." as she smiled at them briefly.Arron smiled at her but Jiro just kept mum and not even a smile on his face,as he looked at the other way.
"And who are the two lovely ladies.I am sure it is not my cousin's date but the two gentleman." she said cunningly.
"Ah ,they are Ella and Hebe and this Selina my cousin." Chun said."And he is Calvin,errrr your boyfriend?"
Selina did not answered but raised her eyebrows and look out somewhere.She took a seat beside Jiro and Calvin sat next to her.Jiro was so quiet and looks so bored,and totally ignoring her after that.
They ordered their food.The atmosphere in the table is strained as if someone is not saying anything in the open.No jokes were passed around like the way they used to do ,when they go out,Ella thought.She tried to lighten up the mood,by cracking a joke or two but no one is responding to it.
They finished their dinner in silence,and then there was music being played,and ella felt Jiro's hand on hers.
"Care to dance Ella.?" as he took her hand and she nodded her head,when she looked up,she can see Chun's eyes on her.
She nodded her head and smiled.She knew somebody is playing something and something have gone wrong once Selina walked in with them.Arron likewise asked Hebe to dance,as they got up to dance.Jiro and Ella followed.
"What was that all about?" Ella asked."I have never felt a chill on my spine just like now."
Jiro laughed."It is that obvious.That is what I like about you,you are so sensitive to somebody else feelings." Jiro said.
Ella laughed too."Is there something I need to know? I have never seen you so serious since I met you,you are usually bubbly like myself." Jiro held her closer and whispered in her ears.
"Let us make those people jealous,and see how are they going to react." Jiro said."So what is it between you and Chun?"
"Oh,how did you know?" Ella asked."And what about that cold lady over there ,who is she to you?"
"It is along story.We need a whole night to tell you all about it.I am glad you are here." Jiro said.
"Me too,I am glad you are here." Ella said.
And then Jiro felt a tap on his shoulder and it was Chun.
"Can I have the next dance?" he asked.Ella blushed.They did not know that the music have already ended and they are still holding each other.Ella have no choice but to go to Chun.
"I can see that you are enjoying my friends company." Chun said."He can make you smile and laughed while I can't?"
"No,he was saying something to me." Ella said.
"Enough to make you forget everything around you.I wish I can do that to you too,make you forget everything around you." Chun said.
Ella did not say anything,she can feel her heartbeat racing.
"Am I that forgettable,that you have easily replaced me in a month?" Chun asked.
"I thought,we are just friends and nothing more.It is only friendship that you want from me." Ella said.
"What if I say that I changed my mind and I want more from you?" he asked.
But before Ella can answer,the music have ended and Jiro came and claimed her hand.
"We have to go,I am not feeling well." Jiro said."I'll drop you off in the office Chun? And Selina and her boyfriend have left."
Chun can only nod his head.His mind is still on his question and Ella did not answer him.He looked at Ella and she looked away from him...he guessed it is too late to say anything now...Jiro have already got her heart...
