Ella has been getting frustrated,she has been hoping that one of these days ,Chun will finally have the courage to confessed his love for her.But each night,she went home,empty handed.No promises and no I love you can be heard from Chun.
But tonight Ella was extra hopeful that Chun will confess to her.For one,today he is inviting her to a very classy and elegant restaurant,second,he told her that he is going to tell her a very important things and third today is very special day for it is Valentine's day.A day for all lovers.
Ella dressed extra nice.She wore a classy black dress,it was a little above her knees which show her shapely legs.it is a spaghetti strapped dress which show her well toned arms.She put on a high heel this time.She can't do much on her hair for it is short as she blow dried it and put a sparkling pin in her hair.
Chun came and picked her up.He eyed her differently as admiration can be seen in his eyes.He was awfully quiet today.No jokes going around this time ,in fact he looked nervous and jumpy.Ella can't help to wonder what is going on inside his thick head.Isn't it obvious that she also liked him,and why then he is nervous.Chun seems to be a very confident man.
They reached the restaurant and Chun especially made a reservation and he picked the table on the corner with a nice view outside of the city.Multitudes of lights played before their very eyes.
Chun ordered their food,and as usual,Chun's choice of food is excellent as Ella ate her food with gusto.She noticed that Chun barely touched his food.She knew now that something is wrong.For Chun not to touch his food is something else,as the waitress clear their table for coffee and dessert.He was also very quiet today and his thoughts sporadic.
"Is something wrong Chun? you barely touch your food." Ella said.Chun smiled at her.
"I am fine.Ella I have something important to tell you,no it more than a proposals.We have known each other for quite sometime now.And I feel comfortable with you and you feel comfortable with me,right?" Chun said.
Ella nodded her head,her own heart racing,and she could feel her face colored."And what is it Chun,you are scaring me." Ella said.
"You know my position in the society and in my family.I am the only son and my Dad made sure that I will get married and have a family to continue our line and heritage.So he made an arrangement with his friend,that his friend's daughter and me ,to get married when we are of age and if either one of us is not married by a certain age."Chun said.
Ella was unable to grasp what Chun has been saying.he is not confessing his love,he is saying something else to her.
"And now,I am almost turning thirty and if I don't get married at the age of thirty,he'll marry me off to his friends daughter.I told you my story,I have fallen in love before and until now,I don't think I have gotten over that hurt before." Chun continued.
Ella stared at him in disbelief.So Chun never have forgotten the girl,it is Charlene isn't it,the actress.What is he saying,doesn't he knew that he was hurting her in the process."And what do you want from me Chun ,what do you want from me this time." Ella asked,her voice strong and hard.tears threatening in her eyes.
"I want you to marry me Ella.Not in the real sense of marriage but real marriage no less.I don't want to marry the girl that my father have chosen for me,for I know if I marry her it will be for life.I don't wanna be trapped in a marriage without love." Chun continued.
"But what about us?What about our marriage?" Ella asked.
"I know you Ella,you wont bind me.Our marriage will not be real.We'll divorce when the right time comes,which is when i found the right girl for me,and when you find the right guy for you.You will be greatly compensated,for you will be my wife in a real sense." Chun said.
"So you romanced me all this time for this?" Ella asked her voice hurt.
"I really like you Ella and I know you like me,and being married to me will be an easy thing.Think about it and sleep on it." Chun said.
"What if I said no."Ella asked Chun.
"The I am doomed forever.I will be bond in a loveless marriage for the rest of my life." Chun answered."And if you said yes,then I can be where I wanted to be.Be with Charlene in the future if ever and be the with the girl that I love and you won't have to work in your life.And if you want your freedom,I'll give it to you gladly.You have to help me out in this please Ella." Chun said,his eyes pleading her.
"I'll give you my answer tomorrow.As you say,let me think about this and sleep on it." Ella said.She swallowed hard and felt the bitter taste on her tongue.It is not easy as she thought to fall in love with this man.
