"You want us to keep nine people in a five bedroom four bathroom home together? Do we even have enough beds?" Sae Ho said thinking how the bedroom set up would be.
"And his friends..."
"Are all guys. Two women in a house of nine. Not over-whelming at all." I rolled my eyes planning the set up too.
"How is it going to work?" Sae Ho asked.
"Well, son, we're not sure yet. We need to go shopping for more beds for the guest rooms. Thank goodness we had more rooms then we needed." Father said he was speaking Korean too. It was me and Sae Ho speaking English and being replied in Korean.
"I'm not giving up my room!" I said quickly.
"You might. And please start speaking Korean." My mother--umma pleaded.
--All convos in Korean now, unless they're in school of course--
"We have 2 extra bedrooms, neither one are small. I say we just put a bunk bed in both rooms and another bed in the larger room. Simple solution." I shrugged, grudgingly speaking Korean. I'm not sure why we ever got a huge house with 2 extra bedrooms, but it came in handy.
"Brilliant." Sae Ho acknowledged. Then he remembered something. "Which cousin is this?"
"Dong Young Bae. Remember him?"
"Nae." Sae Ho said smiling...I was thinking then it clicked!
"The one that was terrified of girls! I think it might have been cooties." I chuckled.
"He's cool--except the girl thing-- he dances! Sweet style, it's been 2 years since we saw him, what's he up to?" Sae Ho... oppa asked.
"Well, he and his four friends coming to our tiny town of Houston are actually a popular group in Korea! They wanted to take a summer break somewhere they surely won't be recognized and still have fun." She said quickly.
"What's the name of the group?" I asked casually. I was going to do research.
"You won't know them, that’s for sure." D--appa mumbled.
He was right; I'm clueless of life in Korea. I rather do Japan, not Korea.
"Of course not, well?" I raised an eyebrow expectantly.
"Well, it's a hip hop/R&B group--"
"A boy band." I said bluntly. "I only needed the name umma." I said wearily.
"Now, they're name is Big Bang--" I cut her off.
"Like the big bang theory of how the universe came to be?" I said scoffing.
"Yes, and they have names--different names. So to say, Young Bae is sometimes called Tae Yang or YB--"
"Why on Earth would it be that?" Sae Ho said sitting down on the sofa...almost squishing me. "I understand YB but where did Tae Yang come from?"[a/n I don't know why he's call Tae Yang either.]
"I don't know sweetheart. His friend, whom is the leader of the group, Kwon Ji Yong is called G-Dragon. I'm thinking the G is like 'Ji' and Yong means dragon. The oldest in the group is Choi Seung Hyun; he's called Tempo--sometime T.O.P-- because he basically just raps. Next is Kang Daesung, no nickname there. They told me he liked to watch Doraemon--whatever that is. Last, the youngest--younger than you by about half a year-- is Lee Seung Hyun. He's Seung Ri. Makes some sense I guess." She said unsure if she remembered everything clearly.
"I could've found this all out on wikipedia. I'm sure if, as you said, they are popular, they're on wikipedia. Or google." I said getting up. Then I remembered something again like Sae Ho... oppa had. "When are they coming?"
"Exactly 7pm... tomorrow..." umma squeaked.
Sae Ho...oppa and I gave an exasperated sigh. Umma can be troublesome...too troublesome.
"Then we need to do shopping and decorating." I said dully dragging Sae Ho up the stairs to we can change out of our school clothes.
"I knew you guys would come through for me!" Umma ran to kiss us both on our foreheads.
"It was an ultimatum umma, shop for beds and decor, or be unprepared, although I like neither choices. I had to choose the better of them." I frowned and resumed dragging the very reluctant Sae Ho. We knew he'd be carrying all the heavy stuff today.
I was changing into a camouflage cargo pants, black beater, a dark green spaghetti strap over that, I wore an Astros cap. I looked up 'big bang young bae' on google and got to the wikipedia page on the group. Debuted last year it seems.
I turned off my computer when Sae Ho...oppa--I'm hating this oppa thing I only liked calling Young Bae that, he was always nicer to me--called me to hurry my big butt up. Then I remembered tomorrow was Young Bae's birthday, May 18th. What should I get him? I contemplated on what he may be interested in as I was getting my wallet--yes I use a wallet, much more convenient then purses, what else would I carry-- and sliding down the stair rail. I almost knocked down my appa while he was handing umma a few credit cards and a lot of cash. She gleefully stuck it in her purse.
Appa owns a restaurant chain called 'Appa's Kitchen.' Most of the people who dine there don't care for the meaning of why there's a non-English word in the store name. The food is all they come for really. Korean foods with slight American twists, American food with Korean twists, great service too! Umma is an interior decorator. She was one of the better ones in the tri-state area as well. We are very well off and they can also stay home a lot. Pretty good life if you asked me.
We went to a nice bed store in umma's SUV. We got two very large bunk beds, and three new mattresses. We had two beds the same size at home, we only needed to keep one of those bed there. We were going to move the other one into the attic. We had them deliver it immediately. We had to tip them extra to do so though.
We then went to the mall. Umma gets her inspiration here. We separated in the food court and agreed to meet up back here in 2 hours. I went to a music store and looked around everywhere until I found a rather small aisle on Korean music. I looked to see if there was any CD there for Big Bang. I found it and looked for a classical CD, a random one. I heard it helps the brain function clearer and calming. I went to see if I saw a store that looked promising for a nice birthday gift.
