Chapter 11

On the next day, the four gathered around the dining table for breakfast. Myolie and Bosco were present too. “Myolie, can you bring us around Ice after breakfast? Michelle and I wish to meet the people of Ice,” Raymond asked.

“Sure, I love to. What about Leila and Ron? Are you two interested in it?” Myolie replied in a friendly tone. Then, Bosco stared at Myolie but Myolie just shrugged it off. Leila expecting such a reaction shook her head. “I’m not going,” she answered nonchalantly. “I am not going too,” Ron looked at Leila and responded.

Stepping out, the sky seemed to have brightened a little on Ice. However, the temperature was still low and the strong winds have been howling non-stop since the previous night. Myolie lead Michelle and Raymond to one of the houses on the border of Ice. A tall, strong house with a sharp roof made of ice stood distinctively. The trio went forward and Myolie knocked on the door once. The door opened, sending chills to Michelle and Raymond. A man, wearing a navy blue cloak, was at the door. “Good morning,” Myolie greeted. “Good morning to you too, Myolie.” The man greeted.

“This is the oldest man on Ice. He lives alone in this house. Being the advisor to all the people on Ice, he is a man full of wisdom and his advice should always be heeded or trouble will come your way.” Myolie introduced the man, impressing Michelle and Raymond.

Raymond and Michelle observed the man for a moment. His face revealed no expressions, his eyes void of feelings and he gave the impression of a dead corpse being alive. The strangest thing of all was that, the man did not look old. He had no wrinkles, no hunch-back or anything else that might give off his age.

The old man stared at Raymond intently.

Then the door slammed shut in the faces of Michelle and Raymond. They diverted their attention to Myolie who was silent and walking away. Michelle then turned to Raymond, “That’s odd”, she commented. Raymond nodded his head. “He has been staring at me before he slams that door. I wonder what is wrong …” Raymond questioned. Michelle shrugged her shoulders and they followed Myolie to another house. As they go from house to house, they discovered that they could never stay outside a house for a minute. They did not even manage to step near the door as the people of Ice would just slam the door. “Something’s definitely wrong,” Michelle thought and Raymond had just the same thoughts.

Raymond even came to a conclusion that the root of the problem is him. He was the one who caused such a big and unfriendly reaction from all the people. “Myolie!” Raymond called out. Myolie stopped in her tracks and swiveled to face Raymond with a quizzical look. “Can you give me an answer to whether the people of Ice are really that distant and cold? Must they slam their doors right in front of us?” Raymond bombarded Myolie with a string of questions.

All of a sudden, Michelle sensed something under the Earth of the planet Ice. Someone seems to be staying under the Earth and that person was screaming and crying. Myolie and Raymond seem to hear it too. Within a blink of the eye, Myolie was gone but Michelle could sense the direction she went and hence, she leads Raymond to go along with her.

Meanwhile, there were shadows behind the trio as they went form one house to another. Ron was with Leila following Bosco as Leila had anticipated that Bosco will be checking up on Myolie, Michelle and Raymond. She had decided to investigate, with Ron’s help. Ron had insisted to follow her and she could not turn him down. Just when Leila’s eyes caught the disappearance of Myolie, she sensed a shadow over her.

She pivoted and was in direct contact with Bosco. Ron was on the floor, with an ice thorn stabbed into his back. Leila stared at Bosco and gathered her energy within herself. She concentrated her mind on making the winds stronger and she sent the winds towards Bosco. Bosco was in no preparation to face this so he retreated a few steps back. Leila could see in his eyes the hatred, anger and revenge.

Leila then ran to help Ron up. She pulled out the ice thorn with great force but with no luck. She made Ron use his magic powers to form a flaming circle around himself. The flames danced around Ron. Once again, Leila focused on her magic powers and used strong winds to fan the fire. The flames grew stronger and taller. The ice thorn melted in no time and Ron felt much better. The ice that Ron was standing on melted to water too. Ron jumped away and Leila stepped further away from it.

Ron then spotted Bosco dashing towards Leila in the corner of his eyes. Anger rise within him and he aimed his powers in Bosco’s direction. Flames moved straight up to Bosco, causing a path of fire. The ice melted once again and the result was a small stream of water.

Leila and Ron were fighting against Bosco now.

On the other side, Michelle and Raymond had arrived in a dungeon built under the Earth. The flight of stairs, leading to the dungeon were steep and cold, as it was made of ice. The two of them held onto each other and hastened their steps. A familiar voice rang out from a corner. The two quickened and peered.

“Queen Tavia, are you alright? I am Myolie,” Myolie was kneeling beside a lady. The lady had long grayish-white hair. Her hair was neatly plaited and her face filled with tears. Her eyes were dark blue and her body was trembling.

“Get away from me!” Queen Tavia shouted at Myolie and tried to shove Myolie away. It was at that juncture that Michelle and Raymond notice that the lady had been chained to the walls. She could not move more than four steps. Kneeling on the ground, she cried harder. “Let me go! Let me go!” she yelped helplessly. Myolie did not give in to her. “Sorry, Queen Tavia. Bosco had instructed that I could not let you go. Sorry,” Myolie apologized in a sympathetic voice.

“Don’t mention that bastard’s son! I only want my son! I only want the son of my dearest King and me!” Queen Tavia screamed.

Michelle diverted her gaze to Raymond and noticed that he was perspiring even though the surroundings were chilly. She held tightly onto Raymond’s hand to assure him. Raymond gave her a mild smile with gratitude.

“Queen Tavia, the King took your child away! He has been missing for years! Bosco is also your son!” Myolie retorted.

“Shut up!” Queen Tavia tried to raise her hand to slap Myolie but she was chained. “Queen Tavia, you are the one who gave birth to Bosco. You had slept with another man other than the King. It was your fault too!” Myolie continued.

“No! No! No! I didn’t betray the King. I was sleeping and I am not in a clear state of mind. I thought that man was the King! My head hurts! Why is everything spinning?” Queen Tavia shrieked.

“Queen Tavia, stop escaping the reality! Face the truth!” Myolie yelled, shaking the Queen. “Stop!” Raymond finally stepped out.

Bosco ran towards Leila and Ron. He was born in Ice and hence, he was never afraid of water and ice. He grabbed onto another ice thorn and prepared for another attack on Leila. However, a shattering scream pierced through Ice. Ice was shaking slightly and Bosco threw the ice thorn and ran helter-skelter. Ron and Leila then chased after him. The people of Ice were also coming out of their houses and gathering outside the mansion which belonged to Bosco.

“The King! The King! You’re back! My King, I miss you so much! Believe me, I never betray you! King!” Queen Tavia stretched out her hands to touch Raymond but she could not do so. Myolie hugged Queen Tavia. “What’re you doing here?” Myolie asked loudly.

Raymond then took out the Sacred Flower from the pocket of his cloak. The Queen was astonished. “King!” she called out once more. Something from the back of Raymond’s head told him that he was actually the lost son of the Queen and the King; the lost prince of Ice.

“Mother,” Raymond called out in his trembling voice. All the conversations finally pieced up. He understood the whole truth now.

“Mother?” both Queen Tavia and Myolie repeated. “You call me Mother?” Queen Tavia asked. “Are you my son?” Queen Tavia questioned again. Though Raymond had just figured out the truth, he was definitely sure that he was her son. He was the replicate image of the King. He was able to pluck out the Sacred Flower only meant for the hands of kings and princes. He nodded his head.

“You’re my son! You’re the King’s son! You’re my lost son! I miss you dearly! I dream of you day and night, wondering the growth of yours. You look like the King! No, you look exactly the same!” Queen Tavia commented enthusiastically.

Myolie kept silent. She had guessed it all along but refused to believe it. Myolie glared at Raymond. “Bosco is the prince. No one can rule Ice except for Bosco. He has tried so hard.” Myolie then stepped up, preparing to deal Raymond with a deadly blow on the head when someone stopped her. Michelle grabbed Myolie’s hand and shoved it off.

“Mother!” another voice rang out.
