"Put them on the table," the Third Elder said.
All the babies started wailing and crying when they came into contact with the icy cold table made of ice.
The Fourth and Fifth Elders carried the babies in their arms and they stopped crying at once. The Fourth and Fifth Elders examined the babies as though they are specimens.
“Odd. All of them have a birthmark each and the birthmark is emitting a light.” the Fourth Elder commented. “Wait. Only one birthmark, right?” the Fifth Elder asked. The Fourth Elder nodded his head. “This girl has got two and the second is black in colour with a funny shape.” the Fifth Elder said, passing the baby around for the rest to see.
“She is evil. Black is unclean. It is a dirty colour.” the Sixth Elder assumed. The rest nodded their heads.
“I like this girl. Her light is gold which is a royal, clean and superior colour. She is the one who will do us good.” the Second Elder smiled.
The First Elder finally spoke.“What are the birthmarks about? Are the four of them related? Where are they from?”
All five elders then started working. “The birthmark of this boy represents water and ice. It emits blue light. Therefore, I conclude that he possesses the magical powers which will be linked with water and ice. Maybe, he can control rain and the tides.” the Sixth Elder concluded.
“This boy releases a red light. Fiery and energetic, he will be, I predict. His birthmark is all about fire and hence, his magical powers will be that he can control fire. Fire will only be his servant, never his master. Flaming hot, I would say.” the Fourth Elder joked.
“Well, well, my dearest girl with the shiniest gold light is pretty. With a birthmark which represents the earth, I believe she will be the controller of the Earth. She has been given the most powerful and the most magical powers, doesn't she? The Earth belongs to her; she is the master of it. She can destroy the Earth anytime. She will be the one whom all of us will have to fear. However, we can train her and raise her up, give her the best for everything and she will be obedient. Then, it will do us good.” The Second Elder complimented and all the Elders crowd around him to see the baby.
“What about the last baby girl?” the First Elder questioned.
“She does not appeal to me. Not at all likeable to me. Her birthmark is about air and I think it is useless. With air, people can breathe but people like us do not have to breathe and we can still survive. Perhaps, she can call the winds but this commanding of winds will not be any good use to us too. Then the second black birthmark, as the Sixth Elder had mentioned, should be about the black and evil powers. The black birthmark means nothing. She is a filthy girl with unclean powers. I don’t like her.” the Fifth Elder was disgusted.
“We still have to raise her up but we will not do a very good job of that.” The Third Elder said.
“Their relations?” the First Elder questioned again.
“I will do it,” the Third Elder said as he took out a little pocket knife. “Hush, precious little babies. This won’t kill, I just need your blood.” he tried to calm the babies down while slitting a line across the arms of the babies.
“Oh my god!”
“Amazing!”
The Elders could not help but gave out excited remarks about what they had seen. The blood that oozed out from the babies are of spectacular colours. Gold, pale blue, flaming red and silver.
“This is no good!”
The silver blood of the baby girl is changing to a darker colour. Her blood is not silver, but black.
“I don’t like this,” the First Elder said.
“Either does me,” the other Elders chorused.
“Anyway, from here, we can conclude that they are not related and that they are from somewhere unknown.” The First Elder made a conclusion.
“However, we must respect the four of them. They possess very strong and powerful magical powers. We must be extremely careful and cautious of this girl with the black blood.” The Second Elder said with a heavy and serious tone.
All nodded their heads in agreement. “Can I have the privilege to name this girl with the golden blood?” the Second Elder asked. There were no objections.
“I will name the boy with the flaming red blood.”
“I will name the other boy then.”
“And I shall have the special honour of naming this other girl.”
