He is always the one with attention, never once been neglected by anyone except her.
She has never speaks to him and that caught his attention. Not only that, he had looked into her eyes once. Only once. Despite that, he observed that her eyes are bottomless. Hatred is what he sees in her and revenge seems to be the only reason to why she was born. He notices fear in her eyes too but she hid everything about herself too well. She is a mystery herself, a question. He desires to find out the answer to her, he needs to know her. Without her, he can never burn. He knew she is the only one for him but yet she is always so near yet so far.
Worst of all, she is the closest to him. Both of them are arch-enemies. They were born this way. Fire and water can never ever mix. If one survives, the other dies. However, the crazy fact is that both of them are living. Living together on the same piece of land. Most of all, he hates him for being so close to her. He is green-eyed towards him. Since that accident, Ron knew that their enemy relationship is getting from bad to worse.
Though he does not mind that, he does mind when it comes to her.
He knew she loves him secretly but yet he does not love her. Despite that, he does not bear to see anybody harm her; he cannot bear to hurt her. She seems to be so strong on the outside but he understands her. She is weak on the inside. She is a sister to him but she never seems to understand the fact. He has been hinting her but she never gets them.
Most of all, he loathes the Elders. He despises them. If it is said that all of the Elders possess the most powerful magical powers, then why he must help them to do the dirty work.
“Burn them, all of them!”, “Control that flame, let it dance, never let it die!” He knew what the Elders are trying to do----hurting the people, disrupting their lives in order to let all of the people believes that the Elders are the greatest.
He is disgusted by their ways and commands but yet he cannot disobey anyone of them. He has been raised up by them but one day, he knew they will get their returns.
One day.
He closed his eyes and relaxed himself.
In his mind, a picture of her floats up.
Leila.
He then recalled about his punishment nine years ago.
*-FLASHBACK
Ron hurriedly went to clean the house. He saw Leila but she seems to be engrossed in reading a book in the Elders’ library. He decided to play a trick on her. He lowered his voice till it was deep and demanding.
“Leila, what do you think you are doing?” the words erupted from his mouth. He was imitating the Second Elder.
Leila dropped the book and turned around. She then tripped and fell on all fours onto the ground.
“Are you alright? Sorry,” Ron apologized and tried to help her up.
However, Leila brushed off his hand and her head tilted up. That was when he first saw her eyes.
He was stunned. Her eyes were unique. Leila then stood up and rushed off, leaving the book opened on the ground.
Ron snapped back to reality and went to pick up the book.
The book was dusty and old. It was very ancient. He flicked off the dust on the pages and started reading. It was about the history of the Black Moon.
Just the first few lines were enough to bore him to sleep. His eyelids felt so heavy all of a sudden. He quickly closed the book and placed it back. He looked around but there was no sign of Leila. She was so small that she could be hiding in any corners. Ron decided to skip his punishment and he went to sleep in a corner.
Surprisingly, he wasn’t caught. The Elders had even praised that he had done a good job of the clean-up of their house. Mocking at the Elders in his heart, his mind had already wandered off to Leila. Then, food was served to him and he was distracted again. He turned his attention to his food.
*-END OF FLASHBACK
“Thinking about all these makes me hungry,” Ron mumbled and jumped around his room to search for food.
There was no doubt for his love of food.
Then the door swings open.
The Sixth Elder appeared into sight.
“What do you want? Do you need fire to cook some people or to burn the houses?” Ron asked rudely.
The Sixth Elder stared at Ron and cleared his throat.
“You are given a wish for all your magnificent achievements.”
Ron was disgusted at the big word “magnificent”. He had done nothing good. The deeds he helped the Elders to do were evil; the deeds are harm to the people.
Ron then continued listening.
“You can make any wish you like. Anything you want. The Elders have also decided to send you out to conquer four planets for us.”
“For us”, who do they think they are? “Conquer the planet for you. I will conquer Hell for all of you to live in.” Ron was sickened at how selfish the Elders were. Taking everything good to their advantage and never sparing a thought for others.
“Details will be given later. However, we will be holding a banquet tonight. That is also the time when your wish will be granted. Think about your wish and you will set off in another two days.” With that, the Sixth Elder left.
“Banquet means food! Set off in two days. Whatever. What about the magical wish? Kill the Elders? No, there is a much better wish than that. I shouldn’t waste the wish.” Ron mumbled.
There was a spark in his eyes, waiting to be fired. That spark was to be going off soon. When the wish was made, the spark would go.
The spark of happiness. The spark of creativity. The spark of ingenious thinking.
