Myolie Wu tapped her feet impatiently as she hummed a soft tune, she turned to face her friend and co-worker, Bosco Wong. "How long does this Charmaine Sheh take?" she whispered.
Bosco Wong sat up and looked around the whole table, the producer of their new modern series, Flora Chan was sitting at the front of the long table, clicking her pen impatiently. Next to her on her right, was director Joe Ma, who had a big frown on his face as he read some papers infront of him, next to him was Myolie Wu, who was the cinematographer for the new series and next to her was Bosco, the Location Manager and next to him was Ron Ng, the costume designer and next to him was the Music Manager, Shirley Yeung. On Flora Chan's left sat famous actor Steven Ma, quietly sipping his coffee, next to him was an empty spot, next to the empty spot was rising actress Tavia Yeung, who was staring around at everyone and next to her was rising actor Chris Lai, who was reading the script.
"What's the time, Joe?" Flora suddenly spoke up.
Joe Ma sat up and glanced at his watch. "Ms. Sheh is 45 minutes later, shall we start?"
"I'm afraid we can't" Flora said. "She's one of the main characters"
As Flora finished her sentence, the doors were pushed open and Charmaine Sheh appeared at the door, she had a grumpy look on her face and she was dressed in Christian Dior clothing. "Sorry" she gave sweet but fake smile to everybody and sat down beside Steven and Tavia.
"Well, we can finally start the meeting" Flora said, with a deliberate tone.
"Uh.."a female voice was heard. Everyone turned to look at the person who owned the voice - Charmaine Sheh. "The coffee is so...cold, get me another one" she complained.
Flora waved at the assistant. "Get Ms.Sheh a new coffee"
The assistant took the mug and left the room. "Right, we have to start now. As you all know, we are going to film a new modern series 'Gold at Heart' with Joe Ma as your director. Production starts a week later meaning Early October and the production will end in mid December, is there any problems?"
"Ms Chan, you know I request my own make-up room, right?" Charmaine spoke up. Everybody turned to her again.
"We will try to fufill everyone's needs" Flora said. "Costume tryouts will take place tomorrow, theme and sub songs will begin recording a few days later, scripts will be given out a few days later too. We all appreciate that our famous cinematographer and costume Designer, Myolie Wu and Ron Ng have accepted our offer to design and direct for us"
Everyone gave a small clap, except for Charmaine, who had a slight smirk on her face. The Flora turned her spinning chair towards the stars. "Starring Steven Ma, Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung and Chris Lai" Flora said.
As usual, the stars stood up to shake each others hands. "Oh, so you're Steven Ma? nice to meet you, I've seen your acting..its ok, but surely you need to improve" Charmaine outstretched her hand and obviously insulted him.
"Magazine reports are so wrong these days" Tavia, who watched them thought. "Saying that Charmaine Sheh was such a good girl"
"Nice to meet you" Steven ignored Charmaine's insult and shook hands with Tavia.
"Looks like we're going to suffer for a while" Myolie whispered to Bosco.
Charmaine gave another sweet but fake smile to Tavia. "Oh hi, little girl, I saw you in the newspaper, they said that you were kissing with....your nerd cosuin right? that's such a laugh"
Tavia exhaled sharply and gave her a cold look. "And so says the newspaper that you're an angel..but I guess-"
"Guess what? I don't care" Charmaine's smile faded and turned to to Chris Lai. She just shook his hand and sat down again, crossing her arms.
"We really...have to suffer" Ron muttered.
"I'm sorry? I didn't hear that.."Charmaine pointed out.
"I said, it's really hot in here" Ron said loudly.
"Oh is it" Charmaine smirked at him, already knowing what he said.
"Anyway, we should all get friendly, shouldn't we?" Joe Ma interrupted. "I have talked to Bosco before, we will be filming in TVB studios and a few suburbs in New Territory as well. Your pay checkes are to be issued tomorrow? any other problems?"
"I am just asking, can I have a brief summary of the story?" Steven asked.
"Well" Flora said. "Our script writer isn't here today so I'll fill in for him. The short summary-"
"Excuse me, I need to fix my hair" Charmaine patted her hair and left the room.
Tavia rolled her eyes, and Flora cleared her throat. "Short summary, well Steven Ma, you are going to paired with Charmaine Sheh"
"No..."Steven thought."End of my world"
"There will be a kissing scene..you will play Tavia's brother, and both of you are orphans. You both are adopted by a rich man who owns a large jewelry store, when he dies, he promotes you as the manager and the whole series deals with lots of cases about jewelry being stolen or bad material in the jewelry. Tavia Yeung, you will be paired with Chris Lai, you are still attending university, you and Chris Lai are fist enemies but later develop feelings for each other. But you have to leave to Australia because your brother, Steven Ma has applied for you and has made it. You refuse and stay in Hong Kong, becoming a secretary in your father's jewlery store. That's really brief, scripts for first 3 episodes will be out in a few days, any problems?"
"I've got a serious problem" someone said.
The doors opened and Charmaine appeared again. "The bathrooms have a big, uncomfortable odour, I had to put my perfume on..please clean it properly next time. People would laugh if TVB had impure bathrooms" Charmaine said, taking a seat in between Tavia and Steven.
Joe Ma sighed at her and looked at the papers infront of him, he leaned over to Flora. "Why did we cast her again?"
"Because everybody loves her" Flora whispered back.
"Any problems?" Charmaine raised her eyebrows. "If you got something to say, share it with us, after all, we're paid to act for you" Charmaine emphasized the sentence 'we're paid to act for you' which indicated that she could leave anytime.
"Nothing much, I was just giving a small comment" Joe replied. "I want to work happily with everybody alright? if you have a problem with each other- (glancing at Tavia and Charmaine), you'll have to work it out for yourselves"
"Meetings over. Think carefully" Flora said, pakcing up.
Charmaine took out her mirror, fixed her hair and then left the room.
Left was, Steven, Tavia, Bosco, Myolie, Shirley and Ron. "Oh lord, can't stand her attitude already, how are we supposed to act together?" Tavia moaned.
"Yeah, this is the first time I worked with her, she's so...I don't know, spoilt is the word maybe. Late and spoilt" Steven commented. "But life is life"
"I know hey, the newspaper and magazines write her like an angel"Shirley sat up. "When the reporters asked Charmaine Sheh about last year's anniversary's winners, she said that Tavia Yeung well and truly deserved it"
Ron chuckled. "And what she said just then, was the total opposite"

Charmaine, who was going to go back in to get her pen, stood outside listening to them. She smirked out walked away.

"Steven Ma! Steven Ma!" the fans yelled as Steven drove out of TVB city. "Ma Jai!....can you sign an autograph for me?" A fan ran up to his car, holding a 'Better Halves; poster. "Ma Jai!"
Steven stopped his car and winded down the window. "Hello..of course" he took the girl's pen and signed the poster.
"Me too! Me too!" another fan ran towards him with his latest album. "Sing please!"
Steven signed it for her also. "Oh My god! thanks! can you take a picture with me?" she asked Steven happily.
Steven nodded and stuck his head out of the window as all the fans gathered around his car. Not only were the fans taking photos, the reporters were attracted too. "Ma Jai, you have time for a small interview?"
"Alright, only 5 minutes" Steven turned off his engine.
"Thank you" the reported thanked him. "Your new series 'Gold at Heart' will be filming soon, hjave you got any comments?"
"Comments?" he chuckled. "Of course, I'd like to act out a jewelry manager, you know, full of money" Steven laughed softly.
"Is this your first time working with Tavia Yeung, Charmaine Sheh and Chris Lai? Have you met them yet?" the reporters continued.
"I have met them just then, Charmaine Sheh....she's a polite woman, Tavia Yeung looks fresh and Chris Lai, I have wroked with him before. I'm hoping to work happily with them"
"What character will you play? who is your love opposer?" they continued.
"I will play Li Gin Hung, jewelry manager..my love opposer is Charmaine Sheh, there is a kissing scene also"Steven replied.
"Oh really! Thank you very much Steven, talk to you next time" the reporters thanked him. Steven nodded, started his engine and drove out of the driveway. He looked in his rear mirror and saw Charmaine Sheh's mercedes benz driving out with fans and reporters rushing to her.
Steven shook his head and drove off, down the street.
