"I've said it a hundred times and i'm gonna say it again, I am not interested in the mafia gang business and there is no way that I am going to succeed your business." Kame shouted.
Kame's father held him by the collar and said in a low tone, "You have no choice, you were destined to succeed my seat the day you were born."
"It's my life! There is no way you can make me succeed your business if I don't want to. And even if you force me to, I will just shut the whole damn thing down after you kick the bucket old man," Kame looked straight back at his father, without a trace of fear in his eyes. This old man standing in front of him is one of the most dangerous man in the whole of Japan. His words were to be feared and respected in the mafia organisation. His stories are legendary in the mafia gang circles. But age has caught up with him. He was no longer the undefeatable legend. Many people are waiting to throw him off his seat in other organisations... as well as his own. Of course he still has a gang of loyal subordinates. But he could feel pressure coming in at him from all around. He had to admit he was getting old, and he needed to pass his seat to someone much younger, someone who was able to control the situation.
Kame is his eldest son, intelligent and quick-witted. Since he was a teenager, there had been many instances whereby he managed to solve gang problems. As such, he commanded much respect among the gang. Unfortunately, he had no intention of succeeding his father as his passion lies in the medical field.
He has a younger son, Yamapi, who was really his illegitimate son. He had not placed much hope on this younger son. He hardly ever sees him anyway. And seriously, with an outstanding son like Kame, he couldn't care less if Yamapi was there or not. Kame was his pride, his hope and his only successor. Yamapi was... just a blood related offspring and nothing more.
Tetsu loosened his grip on his son's collar. Kame was right, there was really nothing he could do if he did not want to run the organisation. Even if Kame could command respect, his heart was not in the organisation. In the long run, no matter how capable he is he would lose the hearts of the gang. Who would lay down their lives for a leader who does not care about them?
"It's okay if you don't want to succeed me," Kame widened his eyes in disbelief at what his father had just said. "However, there has to be someone to succeed me and has to be my kin. If you refuse to take my position, then let your son do it."
"My son?" Kame was confused. Is his father going crazy? He does not even have a wife, needless to say a child.
"Yes, I will arrange a marriage for you."
"That's ridiculous!"
"It'll only be recognized in the gang, there is no need to register this marriage. After all, I only need a heir, not a daughter-in-law. I will personally choose this woman. All you have to do is to bear a son. And then you can go lead your life away from the gang. Which of course includes getting your own selected wife. It's the only way, after you have bore me a grandson, you're free to do whatever you want."
Kame laughed, "What kind of woman would be stupid enough to agree to that."
"That would be none of your concern. Rest assured that this woman will not be a bimbo. I wouldn't want bad genes to run in this family either. Just prepare yourself for you part of the deal. You may leave now."
Kame looked at his father. Was any of the conversation making sense? But Tetsu seems really serious.
