“I will.” Tetsu replied.
Pi tossed the CD cover onto Tetsu’s desk and exited the room. ‘Goodbye Maki,’ he thought. ‘I wish you happiness hereafter.’

“You’re free to go.” Tetsu told Maki.
Maki looked up at him, surprised, then it turned into suspicion, “Why? It’s so unlike you”
“And what do you know about me.”
‘Cold, heartless, never ever thinking for others,” Maki thought.
“Anyway,” Tetsu continued. “Just go.”
“Yamapi, will you let him go too?” Maki knew this was a foolish thought, but she had to confirm something.
“I won’t. He’s my successor now.”
“But why did he suddenly choose to work for you?” Maki pressed on.
“And how does it concern you?”
“Of course it does. Because… because I won’t leave without a satisfactory answer”
“It’s because of you. So if you’re really thinking for him, I suggest you just leave quietly.”
Maki went silent, trying to digest what she just heard. When it finally did, she turned and raced out of the room.

Maki found Pi in his bedroom, staring out of his bedroom window as if expecting something.
As she barged in, Pi turned around, surprised to see her at his door.
“Everything…” Maki started. “Everything you did till now… Why…You said you hated this household… the pain in your eyes at the hospital... you’re suffering aren’t you?” Maki looked at Pi straight in the eye and he could see she knew something he hadn’t wanted her to know. “Everything was for me?” she finished.
“No,” he denied. “it was for myself.”
“You’re lying.”
“I’m not.”
“I’m not leaving,” Maki declared.
“You have to.” Pi’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing what she said.
“And does it concern you whether or not I’m leaving?” Maki tried to force a confession from him. “I’m staying here.”
Pi could see the stubbornness in her and he could feel a panic rising in him. Everything he ever did would be pointless.
“Don’t you understand!” Pi was on the verge of breakdown. “Everything I did, it was for you! I don’t want you to live your whole life in this dark household!”
Maki was stunned. Really, she didn’t knew how to react. Before she knew it, her hands went up to Pi’s face as she gave him a tight slap.
“When did I ask you to help me?” Maki’s voice was trembling. “I don’t need it! It’s always only me! I hate it when you take things into your own hands! Stop it! Stop whatever you’re doing! I hate it!” Maki’s whole body was shaking badly, she started raining punches on Pi.
Pi caught her hands and pulled her into his arms. He felt Maki’s body muscles starting to relax, and her breathing slowly became even. As he held her, he felt warmth creeping over his heart. Behind her tears and fury, was a woman he loved who cared for him. Who was he trying to kid when he said he was going to forget her. How could he? He never wants to let her out of his arms anymore.

Tetsu inserted the CD into his PC. The sound of the computer scanning the CD resounded through the room. Soon, a window popped up on the computer screen. Tetsu moved his mouse to select the “Open file” option. A person’s particular flickered on the computer screen. Someone he was very familiar with.
