I.
When Maki entered the dining room, Yui was already seated at her usual seat. Maki walked slowly over to her own and took her seat opposite Yui.
Yui’s eyes were focused on the plate before her, not looking up once since Maki’s entrance. But her face did not show any trace of anger or sadness or any other feelings in fact. It was simply blank.
Maki turned to the 2 maids in the room and told them to leave politely. Then she turned back to face Yui. “Yui…” she called.
Yui stopped the activity on her hands and placed her cutlery down slowly. She didn’t answer.
Maki continued, “if there’s anything I can do to alleviate your pain, tell me. I’ll do anything.”
There was a moment of silence in the room. Maki waited. “Then…” finally Yui spoke “can you give up on him?” she raised her eyes to meet Maki’s.
Maki had prepared herself for a cold glare from Yui but she was surprised when Yui’s soft eyes landed upon her. She wasn’t challenging her words, but she did want to make a point. “Maki, don’t make promises you can’t keep. That’s enough, enough already. I know you mean it, but there are some things that just are not under your control.” Yui closed her eyes in pain, but none of her other facial features distorted, the only thing that betrayed her emotions were the tears that rolled out down her cheeks stubbornly. “I’ve lost, I won’t fight anymore. My wounds are too deep, before I recover I won’t inflict any more injury on myself.” She pressed her right hand to her chest, gripping at the spot above her heart which was pounding madly right now.
Maki looked at Yui, half sorry half with admiration. After the storm last night, she could walk out with her head held high. She wasn’t defeated, she had just decided to start a new life, a brand new game.
Just then, the door opened and Pi walked in. Maki was shocked to see the bruises on his face. She gasped and rushed over to him instinctively. “Pi… what happened to you?” Pi tried to shield his face from Maki but failed terribly, she had pulled down his arms to inspect his injury.
“I think I punched myself in my sleep last night,” he replied stupidly.
Yui truly smiled for the first time in a very very very long time. She stood up and turned to face the couple. “But I won’t call off the engagement. After all, I’m but a pawn of your father.” She directed the last sentence to Pi.
The three of them understood what she had meant. Even if Yui wasn’t Pi’s fiancée, someone else would be. They both smiled gratefully towards Yui. Rather than have someone unknown to be his fiancée, they rather it be Yui. God knows what other persons is Tetsu capable of finding, at least they had one less thing to worry about now.
“But… would you be placed in a spot?” Maki asked worriedly.
“Don’t worry about me, I can handle it.”
Maki couldn’t control herself anymore, she rushed forward and pulled a surprised Yui into a warm embrace. “Sorry,” she whispered. “And… thank you.”
Yui raised her hands unsurely, not knowing whether to return the hug or not. Then she noticed Pi’s encouraging smile and she wrapped her hands around Maki’s waist.
“Me too…”

II.
“Yui?” Maki repeated.
“Yup.” Pi confirmed the name.
Maki blew softly on the bruise on the side of his mouth and dabbed a cotton bud with medication on the affected area. “Why would she attack you?” Maki frowned, apparently not believing his accusation.
“Mm…” he smiled sheepishly, embarrassed to relate the events after she was coaxed to sleep. “Because I askedforherforgivenessandallowedhertoslapmesothatshecanventallherfrustrations.”
“Ah…I see…” Maki smiled knowingly, she exerted more force on his wound making him wince in pain. “Our Pi is a gentle boy ne…”
He recovered quickly and smiled at her praise, “then do I deserve some form of… reward?” he inched closer and closer to Maki’s face until it became a blur…
“Itai!” he backed off violently when the sides of his mouth stung. “What…Doraemon?!” he gasped when he saw the reflection in the mirror. At the sides of his mouth was a round plaster with Doraemon’s big round face. Maki had slapped it onto him when he didn’t notice.
“Yup… my reward.”
“Eh?”
“Maaiii rreeewwaaarrddd,” Maki repeated in slow motion.
“I know what you said, but why doraemon?” he asked, obviously not very happy that he hadn’t got the reward he expected.
“Because…. I like it as much as I like you.” She answered randomly.
He wasn’t happy with the answer, “as much as? You like me as much as a cartoon character?” he scoffed.
She diverted her eyes away from his burning gaze and started to pack the first aid kit back into the box. “Well at least it’s cute,” with that she poked at the plaster and took the chance to make her way out of the room when he withdrew in pain.
But before she could even escape through the door, he closed the door before her.
“Maki~~~where do you think you’re going?” he teased in a sing song manner. “I’m not letting you leave my room without my reward~~” he smiled sinisterly.
“Okay okay… I give up,” Maki raised her head to peck him on his lips. “Can I go now?”
He shook his head, “Not satisfactory enough.”
“Hmph!” Maki’s face was now flushed. She was so cute, he couldn’t even bear to close his eyes. But he did anyway and waited for her kiss.
Seeing Pi with his eyes closed, Maki reached up again shyly. Gosh, this was embarrassing. Please remind her to get back at him one day. Her lips grazed against his, then she tiptoed to raise herself higher, pressing her lips more firmly against his until it fitted snugly together. Parting her lips, she took his lower lip between hers.
Her slow and uncertain lingering kiss set his heart on fire. His hands moved down her arms until the first aid kit was taken away by him. The first aid kit was thrown carelessly to the sides, its contents spilling out.
“Hold me,” he breathed through her parted lips. Her hands traveled up his chest and found its way behind his nape.
This wasn’t the first time they kissed, but it was the first time she took the initiative. Even though her kisses still wasn’t matured, even though it still had that tinge of innocence in it, it was enough to send flames of desire through his veins.
He pushed Maki against the wall and dipped his head down further to deepen their kiss. Parting her lips further with his tongue, he plunges his tongue into her mouth, running it across the sensitive under of her own. His hunger for her clearly showed and he was only keen to show more. His hand slid up her t-shirt, teasing her senses when he ran his fingers lightly along her tummy until it paused just below her breast.
Maki gasped when she felt his warm hands cupping her through her bra. “Pi… stop…” she mumbled feebly through his raving tongue. Her heartbeat was thumping loudly in her ears, she felt as though she had spun a hundred rounds on the spot, dizzy and weak.
He didn’t hear her, his own heartbeat was pumping wildly in his ears. He broke away from her lips and continued his voyage down her jawline to her nape and finally to her collarbone, obviously unaware of the overflowing fear from his partner as he suckled on her collarbone leaving a cherry red mark where his lips touched. He couldn’t believe he had held on for so long now, he never used to need to.
His hands became restless, starting to knead the softness in it. Deciding that her bra was getting in the way, he pushed them up revealing the fullness of her breast for him.
“Wait… I’m not ready for this!” Maki’s body started to tremble under his touch.
He drew up to level with her eyes and tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle.” He planted a reassuring kiss on her lips, one that was soft and gentle.
Maki squinched her eyes, hoping that her fear would just go away. She tried to convince herself that since she had already chosen him as the one, it was alright. But somehow, that feeling of fear didn’t seem to go away with her reasoning.
Her hands gripped tightly onto his shirt as his lips worked its way down. His mouth went on to cover her breast through her thin shirt, his tongue licking on her sensitive nipples. Maki’s grip tightened on his shirt, she bit on to her lips to prevent herself from giving off any embarrassing sound.
“Young mistress!” a distant voice called from the corridor. “There’s a call for you.”
“Pi… I need to take a call…” Maki tried to push him away as she reached for the doorknob but he was faster and locked the door swiftly.
“Ignore them…They won’t find you here…” he spoke in a husky voice full of desire.
He kissed her repeatedly on her lips again, tugging on her shirt in an attempt to remove it.
“Young mistress!” the voice was nearer now.
“No,” she placed her hands firmly on his restless ones to stop him. “Coming!” she called out to whoever that was calling her outside.
She managed to release herself from Pi and slid through the door, vanishing from his sight. A very disgruntled Pi was left sulking in the room.

III.
She breathed a sigh of relief after leaving the room. She had the person who called her to thank.
After adjusting her clothes until she was satisfied that it was appropriate to see anyone, she took over the phone from the maid.
“Hello… this is Maki” she greeted.
“Maki… are you free tomorrow?” the voiced asked.
“Kame? Oh um… why?”
“I’m on leave tomorrow and I’d like to visit the places Erika had been to. I was wondering perhaps if you’re free tomorrow, you could be my tour guide?”
“Oh… sure!” Maki chirped.
On the other side of the phone, a very thoughtful Kame shut his cellphone. This was it, he was going to find out once and for all what those feelings for Maki were. Was it pure gratitude for pulling him out of the shadows?
Or something more than that.

I am happy to know that I have very smart readers. As most of you would have guessed, here comes complication KAME! heez. I just had to leave a cliffhanger, sorry~~
Man I just had to post this chapter for I wanted to end the whole Yui episode already! And of course part II was a really random thought that came out of nowhere. awwww dirty minded ferine =P but hey! I'm sure i'm not the only one! "looks around for yamaki accomplices* *hiak*
But even though I said that you won't miss the whole story plot even if you missed the part. I have to tell you that you have missed a great deal of ferine's out of the blue imagination. Haha ok I was TOTALLY KIDDING! What I wanted to mention was that there is indeed some changes in the relationship between both of them. Pi's need for Maki is beginning to show and he isn't very pleased with the disruption.^^ This scene is indeed a catalyst to events that will happen.... say...2 chapters later?

Some spoilers *do not read if you want your ferine surprises!*
Generally, complication Kame has two parts, we will soon be entering the first part, which aims to build on to the second part. There would be some sort of end to the first part but due to a shocking event that will happen later, kame will return. And as you can probably guess from ferine's stinginess, she tries to make full use of side characters as well. That is an understatement really, she actually squeezed in a main part for these side characters at some point of the story. Well nevertheless, some side characters didn't get to show up as much as ferine wish they did and she really regrets that she could not unleash their potential. Many apologies to jin and ayase, but other than that i believe that most of them have contributed much to the story. Even someone that was only mentioned briefly at the start will be making a reappearance soon.. guess who!!
