Rush Of Blood To The Head

Chapter 30

Confrontation On A Snowy Front

Sho stood quietly outside of the bus, his breath visible as it escaped his mouth. It was snowing in Yokohama, something that he clearly had not been expecting. He pulled a black hoodie over his shoulders and let the hood stay in its place on his head. People were bustling about the parking area, the noise muffled by the fallen snow. Even though it was something that was not expected, Sho still appreciated the beauty of it. His red eyes watched as Misha helped Jude with an equipment box, the snow standing out in her bright green hair. Keito and Takeo had disappeared into the complex earlier and the only one that had not faced the snow yet was Tyler. She was still asleep on the bus, cuddled in a bunch of blankets, clothed, like he had left her. Jude broke away from Misha, leaving him to his own drum set, and walked over to the bus where Sho was leaning against it. She looked at him, a smile coming to her pale face.

“Watch this,” Jude said, her voice raspy like it always was. One of her small hands balled into a fist and she banged it harshly against the side of the bus before she yelled.

“Oh my God! Tyler it’s snowing!”

Sho could barely hear the sound of shuffling before the roar of pounding feet filled the bus. The door of the bus flew open and Tyler came spilling out as she pulled a large hooded sweater over her head. Her black hair was in disarray and her blue eyes were looking around in wonder. Sho would have sworn that it was the first time Tyler had ever seen snow if it wasn’t for the look on Jude’s face as she watched her excited friend.

“She gets this way every time it snows,” Jude said with a small laugh. Tyler slipped suddenly, falling backwards toward the pavement. Sho stiffened in his spot, his red eyes going wide, but before she fell all the way Misha appeared beside her and grabbed her by the back of her sweater and pulling her upright. A startled expression was in her blue eyes before she smiled at him.

“Thanks Misha,” Tyler huffed. Misha just gave her a quick flick in the forehead before he turned away from her.

“It’s what I’m here for,” Misha said, a smirk on his face, as he walked toward the complex.

Sho couldn’t believe how fast the guy had been and he was thankful for it. If he hadn’t of caught her Tyler would have hit her head on a cement block. Now his eyes were transfixed on Tyler as she stood in her spot just looking around, a small smile on her flushed face. He heard someone clear their throat and he looked over at Jude standing next to him. One of her dark brows was arched and a knowing look was on her face. Sho swallowed uncomfortably as he continued to look at Jude and her at him. There was just something about her that was different than the others. She seemed so experienced in life, like she knew some secret to everything that none of the rest of them knew.

“Take care of her will ya,” Jude said before she gave him a light smack on the back. He didn’t respond, only watched her walk into the complex, never taking his eyes from her back until she was out of his sight. Suddenly something soft and wet collided with the side of his head, making his eyes snap to the direction of the rouge snowball. Tyler was standing there with a big grin on her face, another snowball in the making in her hands.

“You’re asking for it,” Sho said calmly as he crossed his arms over his broad chest, making a small laugh rip from Tyler’s throat.

“Oh yeah, what are you going to do about it?” Tyler asked. The words had barely left her mouth before a snowball smacked her right in the chest. She dropped her new one in surprise and looked over at him shocked. Sho smiled, she looked so cute when she was surprised.

Shun walked down the busy hallway, quiet and unnoticed. His dark gaze was glued to his feet, his mind wandering to the incident a week prior. He couldn’t get the image out of his head; Keito… naked… boobs… the lack of a penis. He felt a blush coming to his face and shook his head to try and chase the image away. Before the incident Shun had started to feel something for the guy… girl, a comrade almost, but now he wasn’t sure what he felt.

One of Shun’s large hands reached out and pushed a door open in hopes that it was a break room. He paused for a moment when he entered, his breath hitching in his throat as he tried desperately to calm his rapidly beating heart. Keito was sitting on the floor, her Tarot cards spread out on the low table in front of her. Her brow was creased in frustration as her mismatched eyes peered down at her cards. Keito’s black hair was pulled back in a short ponytail, her square bangs hanging to her brow. Shun swallowed before he walked further into the room, finally drawing her attention. A small smile came to her face, her hand wiping over her cards quickly, making an unreadable mess of them. It wasn’t like he could read them anyway.

“Not, uh… liking what the cards are telling you?” Shun asked as her as he walked even farther into the room, the door shutting behind him with a quiet click.

“Just confused that’s all,” Keito said. Shun could remember when Keito’s mismatched eyes freaked him out, back when he had first met her. They didn’t now though… well, mostly anyway.

“Maybe their wrong,” Shun put in, but she just shook her head at him.

“They’ve never been wrong,” Keito replied. Shun shook his head, some of his black hair falling into his face while his lips smashed together. He sat down across from her, his long legs folding underneath him. She could tell that the silence was making him feel awkward and uneasy so she broke the silence.

“Thank you.”

Shun looked away from the disarray of cards and up at her, his brow raised in surprise.

“For what?” He asked as one of his large hands scratched at his chest making the grey shirt crinkle under his fingers.

“For not…” Keito started, her words dying when the door opened again and Aiba walked in. When he spotted her Aiba froze in the doorway, his hand still gripping the cold knob. The look on his Keito’s face made Shun turn around. When he saw the drummer her gave him a small wave.

“Hey man,” He said. Aiba’s frantic gaze darted away from Keito and to Shun.

“Hey,” Aiba said with a nod before he promptly turned the way her had come and slammed the door behind him. When Shun turned back around he still saw that unhappy look on Keito’s face.

“What happened between you guys? You used to get along.” Shun couldn’t help but ask. He had noticed the change towards each other ever since that night Jude took the face dive at the bar.

“He kissed me,” Keito replied bluntly, a hint of anger in her usually calm voice.

“He doesn’t know you’re a… you know?” Shun asked, afraid that something bad would happen if he said the word girl.

“No he doesn’t know and he can’t,” Keito said, her eyes flashing to him before she looked down at her cards.

“Don’t you think it would be different if you told him?” Shun watched as her hand paused in midair, her fingers looking delicate for the first time.

“It doesn’t matter. If he can’t like me for who I am, man or woman, then it’s not worth it. If he really liked me like that it wouldn’t matter what sex I am,” Keito answered softly, her hand returning to motion and landing on her cards. Shun stayed quiet as he watched her fiddle with her cards, trying to put them in a pile. He could tell she was upset, it was the slight tremble in her fingers that gave her away. Shun shifted slightly were he sat. It was odd to see Keito seemed so distressed, she always seemed to have it together. He didn’t like it at all. Shun let out a sigh and his hand fell on the table, palm up. Keito looked up from her pile of cards and at him. He was looking at her, a slightly frightened look in his dark eyes.

“You can read my palm… just leave out the bad stuff.” Keito smiled slightly at him before she took his hand in hers.

Takeo walked briskly across the parking lot, looking over her shoulder once to find that he was still following her. She started walking faster, turning into a gated area in hopes that he would finally leave her alone, but it didn’t work. Her boot clad feet came to a skidding halt in the gravel as she turned to face him. He stopped abruptly, his blue eyes going wide for a moment before he frowned slightly.

“I told you to stop following me! What the hell!” Takeo yelled, her voice going one octave higher than she meant it to.

“I’m sorry okay! I just can’t get you out of my head! It’s driving me crazy!” He exclaimed, one of his hands reaching up and scratching at the bleached hair that was sticking out from underneath his red beanie. Takeo really wanted to stick that red beanie down his throat.

“So you’re stalking me!” He looked at her for a moment, contemplating. His lips pursed and his head tilted to the side a fraction while his blue eyes looked up to the sky. He looked cute as he stood there, but Takeo wasn’t going to let it change her mind. He was being downright weird and it was starting to freak her the fuck out. He looked over at her again, his brow knitting together.

“Well I wouldn’t call it stalking…” Takeo groaned in frustration as she kicked a rock at him. It harmlessly bounced off of his shoe.

“Ojisan, you’re getting a little fucking…”

“Don’t call me that,” Miura said, his voice dropping dangerously low, “don’t ever call me that again.

“Ojisan!”

“Don’t.”

“Ojisan.”

“Stop.”

“O…ji…sa…” Takeo taunted, but was cut short when Miura grabbed her by the front of her Guns n’ Roses shirt and pinned her up against the chain linked fence. Her heart leapt into her throat when his angry face came mere inches from her own. He looked at her, his heavy breath racking across her face. She looked at him and frowned. The look in his eyes was so heartbreaking, just like it had been back at her apartment. He was confused and tormented, by whatever it was he was feeling. She watched as the skin around his eyes started to turn red and his eyes became glassy. Miura gripped her t-shirt harder and shoved her against the fence again.

“You have no idea how hard this is for me,” He said, his voice cracking with defeat, “I’ve never felt this way about anybody. It had to be you didn’t it. I hated you at first, I really did, but now I can’t get you out of my head. Every time I close my eyes it’s your fucking face I see. You haunt my dreams and my very fucking existence! Why! Why! Takeo I…” Miura looked away from her as a tear escaped his eye, his hands falling to his sides.

Takeo stood there stunned, unable to move as Miura turned away from her, his head hanging in utter defeat. Takeo wanted to scream at him, to tell him everything, but her voice betrayed her. All she could do was watch as he walked away from her and disappeared into a building. Her legs gave out and she slid down the fence and to the asphalt, unable to move, unable to blink, just staring at the empty spot Miura had occupied just moments before.

Jude sat on the stage, her feet dangling over the side and her harmonica pressed to her lips. Her head was throbbing slightly from earlier and she had come to the stage in hopes of having some quiet time, but there seemed to be no such thing as quiet time in this place. People were bustling about, trying to set up lights and sound equipment. Jude wouldn’t have minded that much of it wasn’t for the slight pounding behind her eyes. She heard heavy footsteps coming her way and she quickly looked over her shoulder before she looked back over the empty seating.

The person sat down beside her, silent as he laid his black bass across his lap. His dark eyes looked over at her before looking out at the seating as well. The sound of Jude’s harmonica filled his ears and a smile came to his face. There was just something about Jude’s playing that calmed him. When Jin had first come to the stage it was to have some time to himself, but finding Jude there was just as good he guessed, maybe even better. Jin could remember when he wanted to see what made the guy tick and see if the guy was as good with the ladies as he was, but now it was different. He just wanted Jude around. The only problem he found with it was the fact that he had to constantly tell himself that he was still into chicks. Jin loved chicks, he knew that. There was just something different about Jude that he couldn’t quite put his finger on. The playing stopped and Jin looked over at Jude, her orange eyes staring at him. She looked down at the bass in his lap and then suggested at him with her harmonica.

“You want to jam?” Jude asked. There was a small smirk on her face while she waited for an answer, her short green hair sticking out wildly.

“Sure,” Jin replied as he positioned his bass. He strummed the strings once and Jude put her harmonica to her lips, never looking away from him. It was the moments like these, the little moments with Jude, which really made Jin have to tell himself that he was still into girls.

“Where are we going?” Kame asked with a mischievous smile on his face. Tyler was pulling him down an empty hallway on the way to the stage. She looked back at him and just tugged at him harder. When they came to a small closet she stopped and smiled up at him. He arched a brow suggestively, a laugh rumbling from his throat, “Ready for another round?”

“You know it,” Tyler said with a smile as she opened the door. As Kame turned to go inside he was roughly pushed from behind, falling to the ground inside the closet. When he turned to look he saw Sho standing there with a chair beside him, a smirk on his face. Tyler was laughing slightly as she looked down at him.

“What the hell Tyler?” Kame asked. “What are you doing?”

“Dumping you,” Tyler said with a grin. Sho reached for the door and pulled it shut, plunging Kame into darkness. After the door was closed he shoved the chair under the knob so it couldn’t be pushed open.

“That was awesome,” Tyler said as she gave Sho a slap on the shoulder. “Thanks.”

“That’s what I’m here for,” He replied, slapping her back and sending her stumbling slightly to the side with a shocked expression on her face. The sound of a harmonica filled the air of the hallway and they both looked toward the noise. Jude was walking towards them, the instrument smashed to her lips. Banging could be heard over the music and when she reached them she came to a halt. Her orange eyes looked at them and then to the door, her brow rising.

“Are you guys bullying someone?” She asked.

“Only Kame,” Tyler said. Jude looked at her and then at Sho and then to the door one last time.

“Okay,” Jude simply stated before she put the harmonica to her lips again, the sound of it becoming weaker the farther she walked from them. Sho looked over at Tyler as he folded his arms over his chest.

“Revenge complete?” He asked. Tyler looked at him before giving him a thumbs up.

“Hell yes! Now lets go eat. I’m starving,” Tyler said as she began to walk away, Sho following and leaving a screaming Kame in the closet.
