When Ryo had left the room behind him, he let out a huge sigh of relief and allowed the artificial smile to drop of his face.
Ryo had been really worried that his condition had probably worsened further, but luckily it wasn't the case. He leaned against the wall, closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
He didn't like admitting it, but he was really afraid of his upcoming surgery. It wasn't even sure if he survived it or if he'll really revocer completely after it. But Ryo wanted to try it nontheless. He wanted to do something instead of giving in to this disease.
Pictures of Erika, Yamapi, Yuta and yui came in front of his inner eye when he thought about the surgery. When should he tell them?
„Ryo?“ asked a familiar voice on his right side. He turned his head to the voice and looked right in Erika's eyes.
„What are you doing here?“ she asked looking worriedly at him.
„Just a check-up“ he answered and came back to smiling brightly. This time it wasn't 100% artificial.
„How did it go?“ she asked, still worried, especially now that his mood changed that suddenly.
„Everything alright“ he answered and went a little closer to her.
„Do you have time now? I'm kind of hungry and if you have time, we could fetch something to eat at the canteen“ he asked.
„I was on my way there.“ Erika answered, slowly returning the smile of him.
So they went to the canteen together and after fetching their food, they sat down at a free table. Opposite of each other.
They talked a while about Erikas job and the last time Erika and him met with the others.
„I thought about going to Yuis cafe this evening. Do you mind tagging along? Yui's probably to busy to keep me company.“ he asked her when he remembered his plans from this day and gladly she accepted.
„When's your shift over?“ he asked her and she answered: „4 o'clock“
„Shall i pick you up at about 6?“ he asked then and she nodded eagerly.
Ryo could see that she was excited to meet with him, practicially alone and he shared her feelings, but he could'nt help but feel like he had done a wrong thing a minute ago.
He somehow thought, asking her out wasn't such a good idea. Then he remembered that she had a boyfriend and felt worse.
„Ah, sorry, but won't your boyfriend be mad if you meet me?“ he asked as casually as he could and Erika's smile fell.
„No...he won't. We broke up with each other yesterday.“ she said truthfully, avoiding eye contact with him.
„Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...“ he said awkwardly, trying desperately to keep his true emotions hidden. It wasnt appropiate to smile brightly at a friend who just broke up with her boyfriend...
„It's alright. I'm sad about it of course, but it was for the better“ she said, still looking down at her food.
„I see“ he said quietly, not knowing what else to say.
„What about you? No girlfriend?“ she asked eager to change the topic. She raised her head from her food and looked him straight in the eye.
„No...“ he said after hesitating a bit.
All this time he hadn't even thought about getting himself a girlfriend. Not with his condition. He still thought, that letting people closer to him wasn't a good thing.
But he could feel his determination weaken when he looked at Erika again, caught up in his thoughts.
„Whats wrong?“ she asked as she saw him first staring into space and then into her face.
„Its nothing...just thinking“ he said and she nodded. „Okay“ with a if-you-say-so expression on her face.
„Erika? Lunch is almost over, shall we go back?“ said a female voice behind him suddenly. He turned around and saw a woman their age with a nurse uniform standing there.
„Oh, Asami. Go ahead, i'll catch up with you in a minute.“ Erika said smiling.
„I'll pick you up at 6 then, okay“ Ryo said while standing up and after seeing Erika nod, he took his plate and left.
Ryo arrived like promised at 6 o'clock in front of Erika's house.
She seemed to have waited for him already, since she was at the door in about 5 seconds.
„Hey“ she greeted him cheerfully and Ryo had to smile.
„You ready?“ he asked her after returning her greeting and she went to get her bag.
„Yamapi said, he'll show up for a while as well.“ Erika informed him on the way to the cafè.
Ryo just nodded. He didn't know if he was glad about the news or not.
The cafè was close to Erika's place and due to that they arrived a little while later. Through the windows Ryo could already see Yui carrying a plate with drinks to a table with young men.
„Lets go in“ Erika said, still cheerful and went ahead of him.
They went to a free table at the back of the cafè and sat down. It was a really nice cafè with a comfortable and modern athmosphere.Ryo could imagine going here more often from now on.
„I often go here with colleagues and friends“ Erika said smiling at nothing in particular. Ryo on the other hand looked around the cafè and caught sight of the young men Yui met in the Konbini. Miura Haruma.
„There's Yui's boyfriend.“ Ryo said pointing at the guy who was following Yui's every move with his eyes.
„Thats him? She didn't lie, he's really handsome“ she admitted.
That was the time Yui noticed them. She hurried over to them and greeted them cheerfully.
Ryo carefully mustered her in her uniform and smiled approvingly.
„You look good in it.“ he said to her.
„Let me guess, you checked the lenght of the skirt just now.“ she said and Ryo had to grin.
„He hates seeing me walking around in short clothes, that show too much. When he sees it the 'older brother' in him kicks in completely.“ she explained to Erika, who just smiled at their antics.
„What do you want to drink?“ Yui said suddenly remebering her job.
They ordered two cappucinos and Yui hurried back to the counter, flashing Haruma a loving smile on the way.
„They are so in love with each other“ Ryo said sighing. „You should hear her, when she comes back from dates. Poor Yuta. But it seems like he accepts it slowly.“
„She doesn't notice what Yuta feels for her? Or does she know?“ Erika asked.
„I think she knows it, but she probably avoids the subject, because she doesn't want to destroy their friendship.“ Ryo said. He had heard her talking to a friend in Hokkaido about it.
„I can understand that. Relationships between friends can change a lot because of things like that“ Erika said and looked away from him.
He knew exactly that he was thinking about him, when she said that.
He too had worried about it a lot when he first noticed that he was in love with her. Would it affect our friendship if it didnt work? He had worried about things like that a lot and that was part of the reason why he had never told her.
They stayed silent for a while and took in their surroundings.
Ryo noticed, that Haruma's eyes were still glued on Yui's back.
The door of the cafè opened and when Ryo turned around to look at it, he saw Yamapi coming in.
Erika waved at him and he hurried to their table, sitting down next to Ryo.
„Hi, I have great news“ he said without waiting for their greetings.
They both looked at him him expectingly
„I'm going to have my first real photoshoot! Someone saw my pictures and he requested, that I take the photos for a new commercial. Its my first own project!“ he said excidetely.
„Wow, thats great!“ Ryo said.
„Yeah, it is. I'm sure you'll do well and in a year or two we can say: You know the star photographer Yamashita Tomohisa? We've known him since we were in school...“ she said smiling brightly.
„You want to boast with knowing me?“ he teased her and she laughed.
Ryo just smiled a bit, he wasn't really following the conversation anymore. Would he be alive when Yamapi becomes succesfull? He couldn't help but think about those things.
And when he did, he realized how often he thought about death lately.
Ryo shook his head slighlty, trying to get rid of those thoughts. When he became aware of his surroundings again, he saw Yamapi and Erika both looking at him. Erika worried and Yamapi thoughtful.
„So when is your photoshoot?“ he asked to distract them. It seemed like Yamapi wanted to say something else at first, but he decided to follow the topic change.
„End of May“ he said, still looking sceptically at him

So sorry. This time it's really been a long time since i last posted. I had to learn a lot for school the last week, since we are writing important tests/exams now. (Next week its English, French and Maths -.- Still have to learn a lot for that) I'll try to post the next chapter this weekend.
This time its ErikaxRyo centric. ^^ I just love them together <3 so sweet. Especially after watching their promotions for Ryusei no Kizuna. ^^
