Beautiful Lies

Chapter 2

“Sorry, we don't hire new waitresses at the moment.”
“All positions are taken at the moment”
“I wouldn't be able to pay extra workers, sorry”
“We're not looking for new faces currently”
These were the things they heard from various prospective Workplaces. It took them a while, but after some time finally Ryo found a job in a Konbini, a 24 Hours shop. Other than Yuta, who was the son of a hospital director, Ryo had to take care of himself when it came to his finances. So he decided to look for a job here in Nagoya. Yui on the other hand just did it to get some extra money and find something to do. It would be pretty boring for her alone at home if Yuta and Ryo both were working. One in the hospital the other in a Konbini.
“I'll never find a job” Yui complained when they went for a break in a café.
“Come on, don't be so pessimistic. It doesn't suit you” he said smiling at her from behind his coffee.
“You can say that, you already found a job.” she grumbled.
“And you don't need a job, your just doing it for fun.”
“I don't do it for fun! I don't want to depend on my father so much”
“Why don't you work regularly then?”
“Because...I have to study as well! I'm a college student, you now?”
“You are making a break from university right now, aren't you?” he grinned at her.
“Oh, forget it. Its no use fighting with you.”
Ryo went silent and smiled to himself remembering the time he met her. The first person he opened his heart to after leaving Nagoya.

He was sitting in a waiting hall of a hospital in Hokkaido. Waiting silently, head in his hands. He looked incredibly pitiful and sad. Thats what Yui always said. Just like a lonely stray dog that needed to be saved.
“It will take a while. My father is very accurate when he is making a diagnosis. So he checks everything very carefully. Do you mind if I keep you company while you wait? We could talk or go eat something?” said a cheerful voice next to him. He raised his head and looked at the girl sitting next to him, smiling reassuringly at him. She seemed to be about two or three years younger than him. Her silky black hair fell far below her shoulders and was a bit curly at the ends. Her dark brown eyes where twinkling while she smiled and her smile brightened the depressing room.
But it also had effect on Ryo. Her smile and her whole appearance somehow calmed him down and freed him from his depressing thoughts.
“Shall we go then?” she said standing up and taking his hand, like a little sister took the hand of his older brother.
“What?” Ryo just said confused.
“Lets go outside for a while. Father will call me when he is done. Let's enjoy the sun!” she said cheerfully and started dragging him behind her.
“Hey, wait.” he protested but soon gave in to her demands, having no energy to resist her.
Even though he made the decision to never get close to someone again, this meeting set the basis for a long friendship with the two persons he now called his best Hokkaido Friends.
It wasn't just Yui he met that day. When they got outside there was a boy his age sitting under a tree and reading.
“Hey, Yuta!” Yui shouted and the boy raised his head. For a moment he took a look at Yui, then at Ryo and then he smiled a dazzling smile that would make the hearts of a lot of girls flutter.
“Hi Yui, someone new?” he said after they came over. Ryo standing a bit behind Yui, not feeling comfortable at all.
“Yuta this is ... whats your name? Sorry I didn't even ask about your name.” Yuta chuckled when he heard that.
“Nishikido Ryo” Ryo answered shortly they introduced themselves to him.
Even though this meeting set the basis it still took them a lot of time to finally get Ryo to open up to them.

“What are you smiling about?” Yui asked him with an interested voice.
“Nothing...” he said quickly.
“Nothing? My face that amusing? Come on! Tell me! Onii-chan!” she whined behaving like a five year old all the way.
Due to this Ryo burst out laughing. “Onii-chan won't work on me today.” he said chuckling after catching his breath.
Yui just sat there sulking. She was used to getting what she wanted and could get pretty upset if it didn't work like the she would want it to even if it was such a small thing. She could be pretty childish at times, despite being 22.
“Young Lady. I'm sorry I listened in on your conversation a while ago and I heard you are looking for a job?” an older Man approached them.
“Uh, Yes. I am.” She said a little surprised at this sudden turn of events.
Ryo watched the man sceptically. A trusting personality had never been among his character traits.
“Just a moment ago one of my waitresses called me and told me that she quits. Now I'm one worker short.” he began but Ryo interrupted him. “Cabaret?” he asked with a frown on his face.
“No, That's not -” Ryo interrupted again. “So what is it? If its not a cabaret, then a brothel? Or maybe some other dirty business?” Ryo said standing up.
The man stepped away from him a bit a nervous look on his face. “No, its not like that.” he assured him, but Ryo didn't seem convinced. “What's it then?”
The man stayed silent for a while. Then in an unsure voice he said. “Maid Café...?”
Ryo sighed with raised eyebrows and pulled out his purse in order to take out some bills to pay. After that was done he grabbed Yui's Hand and dragged her out of the Shop.
“Mou, Ryo...I wouldn't work at a Maid Café, don't worry. I don't want to be started at by old perverts who just want to see young women walking in short uniforms” she said with a serious look on her face. Ryo just shook his head with a light smile on his face. “Who nows whats on your mind. I wouldn't put it past you.” he said slowing down and releasing her hand.
Little did they now, there were two people watching them. Wondering if its just an resemblance or the guy they were looking for, for such a long time.

Theres a little problem about the cast. I'm pretty sure i'm going to replace Sawajiri Erika with someone else. I dont feel like using Erika S and Erika T or things like Eri and Erika all the time. It will just confuse, so i think i'll replace her. The question is with whom?
My ideas are Ishihara Satomi, Ueto Aya and Ayase Haruka at the moment. What do you think? Any idea? She's ging to appear in ... maybe 3 or 4 chapters? I'm not sure yet. Shes going to be a more or less quiet and sad girl that falls for Ryo.
