Beautiful Lies

Chapter 23

It got warmer and the days flew by faster than they normally did.
In the last month Yui had spent her time enjoying her friends' company and especially Ryo's.
It seemed like he had feared, Yui and the others would treat him more delicately if they knew. With extra care. But that wasn't the case.
They teased him, laughed with him and in general handled him the same as before. It was as if he had never told them the whole truth.
But sometimes there were moments they noticed it. In the first week after he had told them it was the worst. Everytime someone mentiones a word connected to hospital or death, everyone would go quiet suddenly and avoid Ryo's gaze. That always ticked him off and gradually they got used to the situation and stopped doing these things.

Even Ryo acted weird around them sometimes.
Maybe Ryo thought they wouldn't notice, but they did.
Every time his heart would act up, he gripped his chest. Then he seemed to notice the presence of the others and he pulled the hand away quickly and pretended nothing happened.
A while later he would excuse himself to go to the toilet. Probably to take some medicine, they thought. Then he would come back in a forced good mood.
Erika and Yui had often told him he shouldn't act like that around them, but he said he didn't want to show his pain that much. He felt it was uncomfortable to show it.
His Friends let it slide, but they would always look at each other when Ryo had another attack.

It was July now. The weather was already summer like and on this weekend the first summer festival would be held.
It was already clear that Ryo and Erika would go together and Yuta would go with his girlfriend Nana. Yuta had promised to “officially” introduce his girlfriend to his friends. Yui and Ryo thought it had to be quit serious, because Yuta had never introduced a girlfriend to them.
Both of them felt happy for him with their whole heart.

Yui hadn't heard anything of Haruma since Yamapi protected her in the café. And surprisingly she didn't feel relieved by it.
She really thought he would be persistent, but he wasn't and that confused her. Yamapi had said to her she should see it optimistically. To think that he was gone forever, but she didn't trust the peace.
She had to admit, a small part of her missed him and wanted to see him again. She wanted to return to the old days, the beginning of their relationship. Before he had hit her.

She had thought of going with Yamapi to the festival, as friends, but she was quite sure he was going to ask Masami. It seemed like he finally noticed his feelings for her, but Yui wasn't sure. He rarely spoke of himself and it was difficult to read him.
Slowly Yui was getting kind of depressed, Erika and Ryo and Yuta and Nana got together while Yamapi and Masami seem to be about to get together.
It was only her without a partner and it made her feel lonely. But on the other hand she also thought it was too early for a new love after a boyfriend like Haruma.
She would probably end up tagging along with someone or staying at home.
Her mind had been busy with these kind of things lately. Love, Friends, her “brother” Ryo and his Health and Haruma.
And out of these things Yui still worried the most for Ryo.

Yamapi, Hiroki and Masami went to the café together that Yui worked at. This time Yui had taken the day off and they wouldn't see her until the summer festival, that's what she told them.
Yamapi felt that Yui was weird lately. She behaved strangely around everyone. She was more jumpy than ever and seemed to think a lot, not like before. But when she was in a good mood, she was still as cheerful as ever
.
Lately, Yamapi noticed, he hadn't paid as much attention towards Yui or Yuta than he had before. Normally he would kind of analyse the people around him, so that he knows what they think and feel.
But lately, well everytime Masami was with them, he only focused on her. He still couldn't figure her out more, but he loved to try it anyway.
It was a week ago that he finally admitted he liked her more than friends. But he had only admitted it to himself, not to someone else. It had already taken him 2 week to persuade himself, how long would it take to persuade Masami?

He had thought of taking the chance of the summer festival to confess everything, but somehow he thought it was too cheesy and didn't suit him at all. He wanted to go with her and he had already decided to ask her, but he didn't want to confess it openly with big words and small gesture like they did in Dramas. He would do it the other way around. Small words and Big gestures.

When Hiroki went to the toilet it was Yamapi's chance.
“You know there's the summer festival on Saturday, right?” he asked her and she just nodded, wondering where this conversation would lead to.
“Would you like to go with me?” he asked then and Masami's eyes narrowed.
“I thought you would ask if I could introduce a pretty friend to you, so that you have someone to go with, but to ask me? Really unexpected.”
She grinned when she said that and it seemed like she was tempted to say no and break his ego, but after a while she smiled and nodded.
“As friends” she added then after a while and Yamapi's smile fell slightly, but he was able to put it back into place only seconds later.

i thought i would add some carefree moments, before the more serious chapters begin again. So here comes the summer festival.
I hope you liked this chapter, even if nothing really happened exept of yamapi asking masami.
