“How long does it take them to get ready?” Yuta asked, getting more and more impatient as the time went on.
He didn't want to make Nana wait.
„Calm down, they'll be ready any minute“ Ryo said chuckling at his unusual behaviour. Normally he wouldn't loose his patience so easily.
„Look!“ Yui yelled when she opened the door and presented herself from all angles.
Ryo and Yuta were stunned. They had seldom seen her that beautiful. They had never seen her in a Yutaka, because she preferred wearing casual, comfortable clothing when going to summer festivals.
But this time Erika went with them. And she kind of forced her to wear one. In her opinion it was a “must do” to wear one. The one Yui wore was light pink with a pattern of birds on it. Her hair was tied up beautifully, only a few strands of hair falling into her face, framing it nicely.
Erika came out next. Ryo thought she was even more stunning. She was wearing a Yutaka in a cream color with a pattern of cherry blossom petals on it. Her hair was done similar to Yui's.
Both of their figures were perfectly suited for the traditional clothes, making them look more feminine than Ryo or Yuta had ever seen them.
“You look great you two” Ryo complimented his girlfriend and “younger sister”. Both of them smiled brightly in response. Yuta said the same, looked at his watch and made them hurry even more, when he noticed how late it was already.
“You are just afraid what Nana will think I we come late” Erika teased him but Yuta ignored her swiftly.
It was already getting dark and the colorul lanterns that were set everywhere created a mood that suited the festival a lot.
Erika and Ryo walked in silence, holding hands and sometimes smiling at each other, while Yui and Yuta started bickering after a while. It started with Yui teasing him about Nana and then Yuta started retorting things like “You just say that because your jealous! You just want to have a boyfriend!”
They just stopped when they came to there meeting place.
Masami and Yamapi where already there. Masami wasn't wearing a Yutaka, but normal clothes. A nice skirt with a fitting shirt.
Yuta got a little bit worried when he saw that Nana wasn't there yet and kept looking at his watch, but after only a few seconds he heard her voice from behind.
“Yuta! I`m always late. So sorry!!” she apologized.
Yuta just smiled at her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“Nana, I want to introduce you to my friends.” he said and made a gesture towards them.”First we have Nishikido Ryo and Aragaki Yui, I live with them.”
Both of them smiled at her and exchanged formalities.
“Then there is Ryo`s girlfriend Toda Erika. Next to her is her room mate Yamashita Tomohisa with his girlfriend Nagasawa Masami.” he pointed at everyone in turn.
When he introduced Masami, she blushed a bit and protested. “Not girlfriend. We're just normal friends.”
Yamapi loved it to hear her being introduced as his girlfriend, but when he heard Masami's protest his smile faltered a bit. He wondered if she really had no feelings for him or if she thought he didn't feel anything for her.
“Do you mind if we go ahead?” Erika asked, looking at Yui who was still waiting for her date.
“I don't mind, just go and enjoy yourselves” she said smiling.
Erika and Ryo both thanked her. They wanted to spend this festival alone. Their first and maybe last festival as a couple.
The next ones to go were Nana and Yuta. Masami and Yamapi felt bad for leaving her all alone, but Yui could feel they wanted to go. She kept reassuring them that it's alright if she waits alone and she lied that her date called her, saying he would come later.
Finally they believed her and left her alone.
...
Yui sighed when they were out of sight and looked at her watch. He was already over half an hour late. Should she keep her hopes up or just face that ha had stood her up? Again she sighed and went to a stand that offered Teriyaki. She ordered some and sat down at the meeting place again. She decided she would wait 10 more minutes and then she would take off on her own.
10 minutes later nothing had changed, so she decided to enjoy herself alone. She managed to do it quite well even if it would have been more un to be with others. She avoided getting seen by her friends and would go into hiding every time she saw them. All of them seemed to have a good time and she didn't want to ruin that.
When it was time for the fireworks, she went to a popular place by the river to see it. Just when it started she saw someone sitting down next to her out of the corner of her eyes.
When she turned around and saw him she backed away a little. She didn't know if it was out of ear or surprise, possibly a mixture of both.
“I missed you.” Haruma said to her with a expression full of pain on his face.
Yui didn't want to admit it, but she had missed him a lot as well. And now seeing him so suddenly made her realize how much she really felt for him.
“Let's restart our relationship.” he suggested and came nearer.
“Haruma, no, it's too late.” she said, regret evident in her voice.
“No it's not! You're single, I'm single. Where's the problem?” he asked.
“How do you know I'm single?” she asked and he showed a kind of creepy smile.
“You know, I watched you.” he admitted and stood up.
Yui's eyes widened when she heard that. She was too shocked to move out of the way before Haruma grabbed her arms and pulled her up.
“You … stalked me?” she asked horrified.
Haruma ignored it and went on.
“I saw how much you like me, maybe even love, even now. I just needed a chance to talk to you alone. I was sure I would be able to persuade you then.” he said, hands still on her arms in a dead grip, she wouldn't be able to free herself from.
“And here we are today.” he said and closed the distance between them, kissing her on the lips passionately.
Yui's head began spinning, due to lack of oxygen, but still, she wanted to get free from him.
She tried to get away from him, but his arms were too strong.
Finally he let go of her lips and pulled her into an embrace instead.
Tears were falling from her eyes, leaving a wet trail on her cheek and on Haruma's shirt.
He didn't notice the wetness.
“Haruma, It's impossible.” she said weakly and Haruma shoved her away a bit so that he could look into her eyes.
“Why?” he asked desperately.
Yui was sure if she said the same reason, he would just say “I won't do it again!” or things like that.
“I'm already in love with someone else.” she lied looking down at the ground, but he forced her head up again.
“What? Who?” he asked disbelief in his eyes.
She thought for a while, bit her lip and spoke the name that would make the most sense.
“Yamapi, the one who saved me from you in the café.”
She had often seen in dramas how girls would fall for the guy who protected them. It wasn't the case with her and Yamapi, but it wasn't impossible to believe.
“He has a girlfriend.” Haruma said matter of factly.
“I know. But even though it's like that, I can't be with you. Please understand.” she said and shook his grip on her arms off.
He didn't react, so she walked away, without looking back once.
...
Erika and Ryo spent the time at the festival with walking around, holding hands, eating something, looking at the stalls and talking. All in all they just enjoyed their time together.
When it was time for the firework they looked for a quiet place, but it was nearly impossible in the crowded streets. Ater a while they managed to find one where they could see the fireworks perfectly and had a little space for themselves, and sat down there.
“Do you remember? The last time we watched the fireworks together?” Erika asked, smiling at the memory.
Ryo nodded. Yamapi had wanted to go with his girlfriend to the festival, so the two of them had been all alone. Just before the fireworks they had sat down just like this and stayed silent. Both emerged in their own thoughts. Then at the same time they turned to look at each other. Ryo sill remembers how mesmerized he was by her eyes. He just couldn't look away from her. It was the first time he noticed his feelings for her.
He smiled and turned to look at her, just like he had done years ago.
She did the same and stared intently at him.
“Same feelings” she said then smiling. “Just stronger”
Then she closed the distance to kiss him.
When their lips met, Ryo had to grip at his chest. His heart was beating quite fast now, but he was sure it didn't have anything to do with his condition. He smiled in the kiss and Erika noticed.
She pulled away and looked at him with a quizzical expression.
Ryo just shook his head, still smiling, and pulled her back into a second, more intense kiss.
...
“What's wrong with you?” Masami asked Yamapi, who seemed to be in a bad mood. The whole time he had only given one word answers and never smiled. Slowly it was starting to tick her off.
He looked at her for a while, sighed and shook his head.
Masami just furrowed her brows at this, not knowing what was going on in his head at all.
They were walking through the street, looking at the stands and went to a secret place, Masami had mentioned, where they could see the fireworks the best.
It was the rooftop of their old school.
They didn't talk on the way, both of them were thinking about their own things, but when they reached the bottom of the stairs, that went up to the rooftop, Yamapi called out to her.
She turned around when she heard him say his name, already a foot on the first step.
“A while ago, when Yuta introduced us...” he stopped and scratched the back of his head.
His sign of being nervous.
“You know...” he tried again, but still stopped before saying anything Masami could make sense of.
“What's up with you?” she asked laughing, never having seen him behave this way.
He stayed silent and just looked at the ground.
“Let's go!” she said, laughing again and went up the stairs a bit more, but she was grabbed at a wrist and turned around by him. Surprised she looked in his eyes, before she noticed how close he actually was. The next thing she noticed was his warm lips on hers.
Her eyes widened. She had never thought that he would do something like this. All the time she thought he just thought of her as a friend. Best friends maybe. But she never thought he would return her feelings. She didn't want him to feel uncomfortable when Yuta called her his girlfriend, that was the reason why she had protested.
She thought about this for a second before she closed her eyes and kissed him back.
...
After the fireworks Nana and Yuta were on their way back to the stalls. They wanted to grab something to eat before going home.
When they reached them, Yuta noticed a familiar girl on the other side of the street.
It was Yui, but surprisingly she was alone. She had two fingers on her lips and walked along the street without removing her gaze from the ground. Yuta looked around I he could see her date, but all she could see was Haruma, trailing her.
His eyes narrowed when he saw it. Hadn't they broken up? And why was he stalking her now.
...
This time it's a longer chapter, to make up maybe? ^^ i hope you like it.
