She was about to do that when she heard the signal for a new emergency.
She shot up from her seat and made her way to the arrival.
A few nurses and two doctors were already there, waiting for the ambulance.
“Young man stabbed in the stomach, other details unknown.” one of her seniors informed her and she just nodded.
Soon they heard the sound of the sirens and her whole body tensed with anticipation.
The ambulance drove into the gateway and stopped in front of them.
The doors of the car slid open quickly and the stretcher was driven out.
At first Erika looked at the wound and the big amount of blood, but then he looked at the face of the patient and her world stood still.
“Yamapi” she whispered in shock while they passed her with the stretcher. She didn't realize Masami by his side screaming his name or one of the nurses trying to get her attention.
“TODA!” one of her seniors shouted suddenly and she got out of her trance.
“sorry” she mumbled and ran behind them still feeling that this wasn't reality.
They reached the area where relatives couldn't enter and she still heard Masami's cries when the door closed.
Everything went so fast, she stood there and looked at her long time friend who was in such a bad state. It couldn't be true.
She only saw his face and heard the sounds of the many machines showing his heartbeat and other vitals. The sound was fast and irregular.
“Toda, pull yourself together and help!” one of her seniors shouted again, but Erika shook her head slowly.
“No...I can't” she said and made her way out. She had to get out of the room and breath fresh air.
The beeping sounds quickened and she heard the voices of the other doctors. “We're loosing him”
She stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath.
She had to help, he could die if she didn't and she wouldn't be able to live with herself if he did.

Ryo and Yui were sitting at home watching TV and talking when Ryo's cellphone ringed.
He took it out of his pocket and looked at the Caller's ID.
His lips formed a smile when he read the name and he took the call immediately.
“Erika?” Yui heard him say and interested she looked at him.
She was surpried when his smile slipped off his face.
Alarmed she saw his hand gripping at his chest.
She jumped to her feet and got his bag.
“Yui is with me. We – we'll come immediately.” she heard him say, his breath quickening and he closed the phone.
She handed him one of his pills and the bottle of water.
But he shook his head taking in a deep breath.
He grabbed Yui's wrist and pulled her out of the apartment to the car.
“Where are we going?” Yui asked alarmed, but Ryo didn't seem to trust himself to speak. He was shaking and that made Yui worry even more.
He drove the car with immense speed and ignored a few streetlights, scaring her with the unusual way of driving.
“Are you crazy? Do you want to kill us?!” Yui screamed, but when she saw where they were heading her eyes widened and she stopped nagging.
“What, what happened? Is Erika alright?” Yui asked beginning to get scared when they stopped in front of the hospital.
They jumped out of the car and ran into the emergency room. There they found Masami sitting on a chair and silently crying.
“Masami!” Ryo shouted and when they stopped in front of her she lifted her head. Her eyes were red and she had long traces of tears on her cheek.
“How is he?” Ryo asked her but Masami shook her head.
“They won't let me see him. Erika is trying to convince her seniors at the moment, but I don't know whats going on.”
Yui was confused. They still hadn't told her what happened. Who was lying in the emergency room? She could only think of Yuta or Yamapi, but would Masami cry that much when it was Yuta?
“Yamapi?” she whispered and Ryo seemed to remember that she didn't know anything yet.
He nodded and turned to Masami again.
“What happened?”
“He...He was stabbed. This man … Haruma I think was his name … he … they argued and Haruma took out a knife...He shoved me behind his back and was...hit instead...What should I do? What if he doesn't survive?” Masami sobbed and Yui sat down next to her.
Tears were flowing down her cheeks now as well.
She hugged Masami and the latter didn't shove her away, but sobbed in her shoulder.
Yui couldn't believe that Haruma did something like that. She knew exactly that it was all her fault.
This wouldn't have happened if she hadn't told him she loved Yamapi.
At the thought the tears flowed freely and she started sobbing as well.
The doors opened and Erika approached them.
“I talked with the doctors and we can go see him since we are like … his family.” Erika took a deep breath between the words since she was on the verge of crying herself, but she tried to control it.
“At the moment he is alright. It could be that there is an infection, but we'll see it the following days. For now he's alright. He made it...”
Again she had to control herself and Ryo laid and arm around her waist.
“We can go in now.” She said.
Masami and Ryo nodded but Yui got up.
“I'll get some fresh air” she said and walked down the hallway in the direction of the exit.
They looked after her, but thought she would be alright by herself, so she followed Erika inside the room.
At the door Ryo stood still and looked at Yamapi, who was in a state he had been in himself may times.
Lying in a hospital bed, unconscious with machines making sounds around him.
Masami went to his bed immediately and took his hand.
Slowly she started to cry again, but this time it were tears of joy and relief.
Ryo went further into the room and sat down at a chair nearby the window. Erika followed him.
“I was so scared” she told him quietly. “My hands were shaking when I helped … saving him.”
Ryo pulled her onto his lap and hugged her. His face buried in her hair.
She heard his breath quicken and at first she was worried about his heart, but now she realized he was crying.
“I'm so glad” he only said and the first smile formed on her face since Yamapi arrived at the hospital.

Thanks for your comments last time. I'm still not sure whom to pair up with whom, so i'll just go with the flow of the story and decide spontaniously who'll be paired up.
