Of course nothing is simple in this world.
‘Where is this girl, Kwon Boa?’
The school was too big to find anyone in, how the hell was he supposed to find this girl?
‘Might as well look around…’
---
“Stop! Stop it please! Ah-AH~!”
Her attackers didn’t seem to hear her, or they didn’t care. Harder, they kicked harder landing one to her ribs. She screamed and sprayed perfume in their eyes, throwing throwing the bottle at another boy coming towards her as she hauled her abused body up the stairs.
Chains, bats, planks of wood, was she a witch?
‘Where’s my broomstick now?’ She thought wryly falling through the rooftop door.
She was trapped she knew it and there was no one there to save her. Her shoes, she’d lost them some time ago. She was bleeding, her lips were swelling and her face felt like it was broken.
How had she made enemies with D4?
‘All I wanted was to go home and see oppa…’ She thought watching the malicious glares in their eyes as they approached. She climbed onto the banister and heard the gasping from below.
The delivery boy rode through the area holding the box in his bag and was surprised at the amassing people.
“That Kwon Boa lasted longer than I thought…” A girl said.
He pouted cutely and got off his bike racing up the stairs.
“Kwon Boa?!” He asked to the girl near the banister.
She didn’t seem to look up nor anyone in the crowd look back. She climbed up to the banister and turned towards the end.
‘What happened to her?’
“That’s dangerous don’t you think? You should come down from there…” He tried to coax and the crowd beside him drowned his voice out.
“Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!”
He could hear her crying the closer he got.
“Mianhaeyo oppa… I guess I won’t see you come home.”
“Mwot?”
His heart skipped a beat and his feet moved without thinking. He heard screaming that wasn’t his own when a boy pushed her and grabbed her around the waist.
“NO!”
She was shaking in his arms that held her from the brink of death.
“It’s okay… It’s okay…It’s okay noona…” He whispered softly pulling her up and groaning at the off balanced weight.
“It’s alright, no one’s going to hurt you anymore…” He whispered to her gently, stroking her hair as she cried into his coat.
“Oppa~! Oppa~!” She cried, delirious and trembling.
“Would you happen to be Kwon Boa?” He asked gently wiping the blood from her head and smiling at her.
She nodded sniffling.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” He smiled and lifted her into his arms, glaring at the blood lusting crowd of students.
“You think this is okay?! Huh?! To hurt a girl like this?! You think that’s what makes a man?! Huh?! Aish, you all disgust me!”
He charged down from the rooftop and got on his bike, cradling her between his lap and the handle bars.
“It’s alright now, noona… I’ll get you to the hospital.”
When they arrived, he felt like his legs would fall off as he carried her into the hospital and waited for the verdict on her life. He wondered if the girl had any family?
‘Probably she does go to that Richie school.’
“Did you bring that girl in?” A nurse asked.
He looked up and nodded, “Dae… Is she okay?”
“She should be fine, do you want to see her? Her older brother should be here soon.”
He nodded and followed her to the room where she would be. He smiled down at her. She was awake and looking at him.
“You’re… You’re…”
“I’m just a delivery boy.”
“You saved my life.” She whispered.
He smiled, blushed and scratched his head.
“It’s nothing, how are you feeling?” He asked sitting beside her bed and opening his bag.
“Numb.”
“Well it’s better than pain I suppose…”
She laughed gently as a taller man burst through the door.
“Boa!” He yelled racing to the bed and grabbing her hand.
“Oppa…. You’re home already?”
“Omo, why didn’t you tell me before? What happened? Who are you?” He asked suspiciously.
The delivery boy smiled and bowed.
“Hi, I’m a delivery boy from King Jewelers downtown to deliver a package for a Kwon Boa…” He said and handed over the package.
The man looked at him incredulously.
“Mwot?”
“Oppa~… he saved my life…” She said gripping his hand, “ Won’t you tell me what your name is?”
“You saved my sister?” The man asked, “ I… I’m sorry about that early… I was rude.”
“Aniyo, it’s fine.” He stood up and the other realized he was amazingly tall.
“You’ll get better won’t you? Kwon Boa?”
She nodded, “ You’ll tell me your name if you come visit again?”
He smiled, “ I’ll consider it.”
“Thank you… for saving my dongseng… I.. I don’t know how I could ever repay you.”
“Aniyo… it’s what any human would do.” He said with a smile, bowed and left the room to make it back to his job.
He grinned on the way home, singing happily… Who would’ve known that he would end up saving his receiver’s life.
‘Life is so random.’
He passed a newsstand where the TV was blaring out the hottest news.
“A delivery boy saves the heiress to the Kwon Industrial Group’s life at her high school. No one knows who this mysterious Super Man is but we can only guess what type of school allows for this type of occurrence.”
He smiled in spite of himself.
Super Man? He could get with that.
The lighting on phone that didn’t work lit up the room and he sat up without further to do.
‘Can’t they call when I’m awake?’
“Nam San Tower midnight.”
The lights went off and he pulled on his boots, pants and a random shirt before grabbing his talisman and heading out the door.
The little shack he lived it was attached to a store he worked for, that on top of all his other jobs , was enough to pay rent and keep food in his stomach.
Stretching before heading into the sky he found himself at Nam San Tower faster than usual. His eyes were two amber beams in the darkness and the news of his heroics earlier still flooded the empty square.
The almost empty square.
‘Come on you ugly bastard so I can get some sleep.’
He peered around the square and leapt , spinning, out of the direction of the tentacle that would have claimed his life. He landed running , avoiding the tentacles coming from the darkness around him.
He heard the heavy footsteps of the running creature and gripped his bow tightly. His fingers were already in the energy band pulling back, opening the vortex as the
Psychic waves pulled together to form a silver glowing arrow that would turn black and solid once it hit its target.
“Oh come on not tonight….” He whispered avoiding another thrashing and prowling tentacle with a smooth side step.
Hungry.
It was hungry… and he looked like a meal.
‘Well I’ll be damned, this thing is old enough not to fear me…’
Oh how stupid the Rogue are.
In a flash of movement, he crouched on the ground meters from where his deadly arrow pinned the creature to the tree. Solid black, a gift from the angels, he stood and dusted off his pants, putting his bow on his back and walking closer.
It was still alive, fighting the effects of the Phantom’s arrow.
“Don’t fight it… It hurts a lot more when you do.” He said softly reaching for one of its extremities to find a tag.
“Kang Pyo… hm… I’m sure your family misses you…”
He made the sign of the cross over its forehead and forced the arrow into its skull.
The inhuman roar of agony faded into a dying scream and the man’s body fell limp on the floor.
He smiled and nodded pulling the man onto his back as he stored the black crystal in his pocket.
“Mission Complete, I’m taking him home now.”
Up into the skies and to a house that he would never remember. Normal, non descript… alive with life and worry.
He knocked quickly setting the man on his porch and fled the scene as the door open.
“You’re back!”
He smiled watching and floated back to his own shack beside the restaurant. It was moments like that that made this hunting business worth it.
Crawling back into bed after a midnight snack he , he turned over to sleep.
Sometimes life was worth it.

Wah! New story. I finally watched Boys Before Flowers and I was not disappointed! This story was inspired by them and tweaked a little. LOL, bet you can’t guess who the delivery boy is…
