Chapter 7
A few days after the dinner party and I was back at school.
I did the normal routine for that week, Hyun Jong would still see me every few days after I hung around in the library. I spent more of my lunches with Eunhyuk and ShinDong though, we were working on a group assignment, Kyuhyun decided to work alone. I didn’t see much of Jung Min though.
That Friday morning, I had received a letter in my desk. I didn’t want to open it straightaway so I left it in my desk for the majority of the day. Glancing at it and couldn’t restrain myself by wondering who wrote it or what it was about, although the teacher Mr. lee would take it away from me if he caught me looking at it during class.
So finally once the lunch bell rang and the majority of the class left, Eunhyuk and ShinDong staying behind the usual, I took out the letter. It had my name on it in simple writing.
“What’s that?” Eunhyk asked.
“I don’t know yet I just got it this morning.” I said examining it.
“Well open it already.” ShinDong seemed more excited about it then I was.
So I complied with his request and opening it carefully, I didn’t want to accidentally rip it. Pulling out the letter and opening it I began to read.
Dear Min-Young,
You really are someone to notice.
-Kyuhyun.
I stared blankly at the page for a little bit.
“You really are someone... to notice?” Eunhyuk questioned. “He sure has a lot to say.”
“Your plan succeeded Min-Young!” ShinDong gasped.
I looked at Kyuhyun’s desk which was now empty. He wrote me a letter? My cheeks flushed at the thought that maybe I was on his mind for a while.
The door opened and I was thinking it would be Kyuhyun but Donghae walked throught the door instead.
“Hey guys, Sungmin and Ryeowook ditched me, mind if I sit here?” He asked.
“We don’t own this classroom you’re free to do whatever you want Donghae.” Eunhyuk said and laughed.
“Right.” Donghae chuckled. “What’s that? Did you get a love letter Min-Young? I’m not surprised.” He said
“Not really, but some comforting words to me.” I answered.
“Hey Donghae you’re just about the closest person to Kyuhyun, since you sit next to him and all, have you been seeing Kyuhyun writing anything short?” Eunhyuk asked,I was quite curious myself.
“Kyuhyun is always writing things, why?” Donghae asked. See, Donghae was really a sweet and funny guy however he was slower then me when it came to things. He just received blank stares.
“Min-Young I guess he did notice.” Eunhyuk smiled.
“Notice what?” Donghae said.
“It’s almost hard to believe.” Shindong laughed
“Believe what!? Donghae was getting really confused.
“We’ll just wait and see!” I chuckled putting the letter in my bag carefully glancing at it one more time before pulling out my lunch.
“Wait for what!?!?” Donghae asked.

That next week, everyday I received a letter from Kyuhyun, I wondered why he never came to talk to me. It was more special this way I had to admit. Maybe he found out I was the one who played the piano for him every time he read. Or maybe I was the one thinking of him every time I came to class. Or maybe he knew that he was the reason I tried so hard to get perfect grades from now on.
The letters were always brief, short, simple, but meaningful to me. They were perfect.
On the Friday of that week, like usual I got a letter, this time it was in a colord envelope.
During lunch I opened it with Eunhyuk and ShinDong at my side.
Dear Min-Young,
Lets meet, Grand River Park, the swings, 6pm
-Kyuhyun
“Wow. He sure knows how to ask a girl…” Shindong said sarcastically.
“It’s Kyuhyun he’s not exactly a ladies man.” Eunhyuk said.
“He isn’t an anything guy, he reads books all day.” Shindong laughed.
“Are you going to go Min-Young?” Eunhyuk asked.
“I guess I’d have to otherwise he’ll be waiting all night.” I said and smiled to myself. I was really screaming on the inside.
“Do you know where Grand river park is?” Eunhyuk asked.
“Uhm.. Nope!” I said.
“We’ll take you there.” ShinDong said.

When the lunch bell rang I looked at Kyuhyun come into the room, book in hand, head immersed in book. I found ti hard to belive he was sending these letters to me. He didn’t even look for a second from his book when he came in after the bell either. I guess he wanted to stay secretive. Maybe he was shy, I don’t know I was so happy about the letter and getting to now my rival in school, and someone who I think was really mysterious.
I sighed softly looking out the window, then at the teacher who came flying through with his lesson for the last 2 hours of school. It seemed to be the longest 2 hours of my life.
When the bell to go home finally rang I waited for Eunhyuk and Shindong to finish packing their things.
“I’m going to go straight home first, I don’t want to go in my school uniform.” I said feeling a little giddy.
“Alright, we can walk you home if you want”. Eunhyuk said smiling.
“No it’s okay I’m going to shop on my way home.” I said and went out the classroom practically skipping.
Leaving the doors I could hear the girls screaming at the front entrance.
“P5! P5! P5!” The chanting was the usual.
I had been at this school for just a month and I still haven’t met this glorious P5 (Well I hadn’t met many students actually I had been avoiding it.), apparently they spent the majority of their time in class, or had a lot of ‘business’ trips they had to do… Or something, I really didn’t care for meeting them I had a plan today, or maybe even what people call a date.
--
On the way home I wanted to buy something for Kyuhyun, and not something with my uncle’s money, something with what I earned. In Japan I had a job at a café for about a year, and managed to save the majority of it. Since my Uncle had some sweet plan that I needed to have the perspective of the hard working man. I didn’t mind in fact I enjoyed working there, even though my boss was crazy, that’s another story.
The only thing I knew about Kyuhyun, was that he liked books. Well, lived for books really. But I didn’t know what books he had, or what books he read, or what he wanted to read. I didn’t really know anything about him actually.
But I remembered something that day. There was a tool, one of my friends in Japan had. It was a mini computer like thing, which was like a portable library. It carried every book on it and would add new books onto it. (This thing is actually real… I saw an advertisement for it on the train though I forgot what it was called.). Really it was the perfect gift for him. It could be costly, but it would be saving the trees I reasoned.
Luckily, the thing was up for purchase at a computer store. It cost about 250 000 won. It took a good chuck out of my savings, but that was okay. I really didn’t NEED the money, and I wanted to give him something that he would appreciate.
--
At about 5 pm my Auntie was helping me rap up the gift I got, and she packed it in my bag. She said she was going to be visiting her family today and wouldn’t be home until tomorrow morning, she didn’t want me staying out too late.
Eunhyuk and Shindong soon came and picked me up to walk to the place where I would be meeting Kyuhyun. I was going to be a bit early, but I always preferred to be so today was really going to be a good day.
--
Once we got to the swings at the park I sat down on a swing.
“It’s apparently going to thunderstorm tonight. So be careful!” Shindong said.
“You want an umbrella?” Eunhyuk asked about to pull his out.
“No need Eunhyuk I’d think he would be here soon. Besides I have mine here.” I lied; I didn’t want him to worry; besides I knew I wouldn’t be waiting long.
Eunhyuk and Shindong said their farewells and went off.
So this was it.
I waited.
