Chapter 9

Eunhyuk and Hyun Jong were sitting at a small café, drinking some tea. Eunhyuk was holding MinYoung’s cell phone charm in his hand tapping the table.

“So what is this all about? How do you know why Kyuhyun never showed?” Eunhyuk asked.
“Kyuhyun never showed because he didn’t even know anything about it.” Hyun Jong said.
“What? He’s the one who sent her there!”
“No, he wasn’t… Someone else, has been sending her the letters all week. Unfortunately I didn’t find out until today. If I would’ve known sooner I would’ve come stopped all this.” Hyun Jong explained.
“Someone has been forging Kyuhyun’s writing and sending letters to Min-Young?” Eunhyuk asked.
            “Exactly.”

--

            Three hours earlier.

“Park Jung Min, Hyun Joong is here to see you.”
“Right, uh let him in.” Park Jung Min said.

“I need that book you borrowed back.” Hyun Joong said as he came into Jung Min’s room.
            “Eh? Already?”
“You’ve had it for about 4 months now.. I havn’t seen you read it at all, I need it for an assignment that you’re ignoring anyways.” Hyun Joong explained calmly.
“Right… Here.” Jung Min passed the book a sheet of paper falling off the shelf.
Hyun Jong picked up the piece of paper, not really caring for whatever it was. He was about to pass it over until his eyes saw Min-Young’s name on it. He snatched it back from Jung Min qucikly and looked at the rest of it.

            Dear, Min-Young

                        You are very…
I can’t
                                                You are someone I notice.
                                                            -Kyuhyun.

            “What’s this?” Hyung Jong asked.
            “It’s nothing…”Jung Min said a bit irritated.
“It’s not nothing, you’re pretending you’re Kyuhyun.” Hyung Jong said a bit confused Jung Min sure was strange.
“…” Park Jung Min didn’t respond.
Hyung Jong glared and Jung min. “What did you do…”
            “I havn’t done anything.”
“Yes you have you’re avoiding telling the truth and you god damn know it.” Hyung Jong was beginning to get angry.
“Min-Young’s idea of Kyuhyun is completely wrong she needs to realize that guys like him will never take an interest in anything.” He argued.
“What did you do!” Hyung Joong yelled.
“I’ve been sending her letters this week. That’s … All. Nothing horrible” Jung Min said.
“Really you’ve been playing with her feelings this whole week and havn’t felt the slightest bit of guilt? Why aren’t you out partying like you usually are on a Friday night?”
“Today was the letter I sent to her to meet Kyuhyun, although he won’t show up.” Jung min said. “You can’t depend on someone like Kyuhyun.”
“You are so ignorant and selfish Jung Min, It’s thunder storming out there, do you not think she would wait for Kyuhyun to show up?” Hyun Jong was starting to get intolerant of Jung Min’s stupid behavior.
“Min-Young isn’t stupid I bet she left after a half hour.”
“If someone finally has the chance to meet someone they care for and look up to do you not think they’d wait all night for them?”
“Who would actually wait more then an hour for someone?” Jung Min said.
“Not everyone is out there just to hook up for one night stands Jung Min.” Hyun Jong  squeezed his fists. “Where are they supposed to meet?”
“Grand river you won’t see her there…”
Hyun Joong rolled his eyes and left.

--

“Jung Min is behind all of this?” Eunhyuk asked, he was starting to get ideas of how to kill the man for being so stupid.
“Jung Min is a selfish person, but I don’t think he means to hurt Min-Young” Hyun Jong explained
“But he did… and I don’t even know how badly he did. She was out waiting for 5 hours in a thunderstorm. She worked hard for these past weeks to get good enough grades to match up to Kyuhyun, and then she finally gets the chance to meet him and it was all just a bunch of lies.”
“I’m sure Jung Min after he realizes his stupidity will try and make it up to her. He may be a bit of a playboy and egotistical, but he’s still a gentleman. If he doesn’t do anything, I’m sure his mother will make him.” Hyun Jong said.

--

“Her fever is rising, JaeJoong.” YooChun said.
“I don’t understand she was just getting better an hour ago.” JaeJoong said.
“It’s reaching 103 degrees; shouldn’t we get her to a hospital?” He said.
“No my father would be better.”

In a couple minutes Kim JaeJoong’s father arrived.
“What has she been doing dancing in the rain?” Dr. Kim said.
“You could say that.” YooChun said.
“Is she going to be okay?” JaeJoong asked.
“She doesn’t have a high fever anymore now, really she just needs to stay warm. I told you this thermometer was broken didn’t I JaeJoong?”
            “Oh… Whoops.”

--

I spent the whole weekend recovering from the rain storm. I really didn’t like the fuss that my Auntie made. I hadn’t heard from Eunhyuk all weekend, or anyone else for that matter I didn’t want to, maybe it was because my cell phone was turned off. I was more or less thinking about Kyuhyun.

I was upset, you could say. I was heart broken, maybe. I don’t know because I never really gave my heart to anyone yet. But, I knew that it hurt thinking that maybe he just didn’t want to show up in the end, or something changed his mind. Surprisingly I didn’t cry, I don’t think I should of anyways. KyuHyun didn’t owe me anything, he didn’t promise, he suggested that we should meet. And really it could’ve been one misunderstanding.

Tomorrow was school, and I didn’t want to face anyone. I knew I had to go anyways, however I wouldn’t be talking to anyone. And I would avoid Kyuhyun, not like that was hard.

--

So school came quickly, I was sitting at my desk. Eunhyuk and Shindong were first to come to class and Eunhyuk looked at me, I didn’t feel the need to respond to him yet.
I was thinking to myself that day. I really shouldn’t be as sad as I was. I felt disappointed, upset, and cranky from the sickness I still had.
“Yo Min-Young, you look a bit down.” Donghae said when the lunch bell rang.
“Neh… I’m just sick is all Donghae.” I smiled, he smiled back and went off to the cafeteria.
“Don’t be blaming Kyuhyun, Min-Young.” Eunhyuk said.
            “Hmm... What?” I asked confused.
“I know what happened on Friday night, and I know the reason why Kyuhyun never showed. It’s not something good but you should really know what happened.” Eunhyuk said.
“Eunhyuk…” I paused. “I’ve been acting all sad this morning, and pondering over the situation all weekend. I came to the realization that I shouldn’t be making such a big deal out of it. Someone decided not to show up, what I need to learn is to not hang onto what happened and just keep going. I’m really not that upset about it now.” I explained, and truly although I was disappointed in how it turned out, I shouldn’t be crying and whining over it when I can learn from it.
“Really, that’s good news!” Shindong said.
“Well, then I can explain the situation with ease.” Eunhyuk said. “Park Jung Min was the one who wrote the letters.” He started.
Eunhyuk took about 5 minutes to tell the whole story. To be honest I wasn’t entirely upset with Park Jung Min, even though his idea of forging letters in order to make me dislike Kyuhyun was a totally moronic idea I really couldn’t find the feelings to be angry at him.
Apparently Park Jung Min spent that weekend at his house, thinking about what he did, which was no different from what I had done.

--

For some reason, I was more disappointed that Kyuhyun wasn’t the one who wrote them, rather then Park Jung Min who did write them.

Halfway through lunch I was at the library again. My safe haven.

I sighed sitting at the piano chair. I really didn’t feel like playing. I was more or less thinking.
Should I really keep on thinking about Kyuhyun? Regardless I knew that he’d always be in the back of my mind. I sniffled a bit my cold still hadn’t improved that much since the weekend.
I looked at my watch and noticed lunch would be ending soon so I better head off to class. I spent the last 10 mins of lunch sitting on a piano chair. Today was going to be the last moment I think about what happened on Friday.
I should really thank Kim JaeJoong and Park YooChun for helping me now that I think about it. I looked at my bag and pulled out the wrapped gift I initially got for Kyuhyun. Maybe I should give it to him like I originally planned.
I pulled off the tag that was signed by me and smiled softly at the gift. I knew Kyuhyun would like it if he enjoyed reading so much, as Donghae said it was when Kyuhyun seemed ‘happy’ whatever happy looked like for Kyuhyun.

--

It was the end of the day, and everyone had gone home. I said to Eunhyuk that my uncle was going to pick me up for some dinner thing he wanted me to go to. I was telling the truth this time.
It was the perfect time to put the gift in his desk. I placed the gift in his desk on top of all his other books that were in it. I smiled softly when I put it there.

I wandered to the window and watched all the students pile out and fight their way through the crowds of girls who were chanting their usual ‘P5!P5!P5!’. I noticed the only student walking out with a book in his hands managing to get through the hoards of girls with ease.
            He sure was something.
