Chapter 2

Thirteen years of waiting...

Chapter 2
Thirteen years later, Christine, Charmaine and Leila all lived up a mountain near a small town. Christine never told Charmaine and Leila to get revenge because as each day went passed, she loved them even more and didn’t want them to kill anyone because she knew that they would end up dying. Charmaine and Leila changed their surnames to Ng, just like Christine’s, so no one would find them. They called Christine mum in front of others and auntie when it’s only them. The reason why they lived up the mountain was so that the king’s soldiers, even if they tried to find them it would be hard and the other reason was that it was easy to go up the mountain to collect herbs to heal people since they opened a yi gwn (like a hospital and a pharmacist but only have about 2-3 people that look after it) not a lot of people go there since it was far but they had really good service and it would heal quickly, usually women go there because men didn’t trust Christine because she was only a women, even though there weren’t a lot of money involved but it was their interest. They occasionally went to the village to sell man tou (type of bread-like food). Charmaine and Leila had learnt all herbs there was possible to know so they were a big help to Christine and often helped out at the yi gwn. When ever Christine went away, Charmaine would take over until Christine returned. Though these years, Charmaine never mentioned Raymond but every night she would take out the half heart that Raymond gave her and stare at it until she had fallen a sleep, it was a habit now that she done it so many times, she would remember all the good times they shared together. Even though they weren’t a lot, they were enough to keep her happy.

In the early morning…
Charmaine- Ah yi, where are you going (saw her leave)
Christine- I’m going to the next village because I heard they have this unique and rare herb and I want to go see it, I’ll be back in 2-3 days.
Charmaine- Ok then. Be careful.
Christine- I will. Bye. (walked out)
Charmaine- (walked over to Leila’s bed) wake up.
Leila- what?
Charmaine- I’m going into town to sell man tou, after I finished, I would go up the mountain to collect more herbs, some of them are running out, so you have to make dinner. Ok?
Leila- no problem.
Charmaine then walked out and headed towards the village to sell the man tou.

Raymond became a traveller 3 years ago when a man named Paul Chun came and killed his entire family but since he was hiding, he wasn’t killed, he was going to take revenge but before his father died, his father told him not to so he obeyed. Along the way, he meet a young man named Bosco Wong (or Wong Chung Chak aka Chung Chak) and travelled together. Bosco was a rich man’s son but ran away from home during a disagreement and swore never to return until he had fame and fortune so his other mothers wouldn’t look down upon him since his real mother had died when he was young. They travelled many places until a year ago, they heard that Paul Chun found out that Raymond was still alive so he sent out his soldiers to kill him. Now they have a plan, that was to find Paul Chun and find out why Raymond had to be killed... As they were on their journey…
Bosco- you know by your age, you should be married.
Raymond- I already have a fiancé.
Bosco- really? How come she’s not travelling with you?
Raymond- we were separated since I was 12.
Bosco- what if you don’t find her?
Raymond- I won’t get married.
Bosco- but you need to or else since your the only sibling of your family, your blood line would die out.
Raymond- I made a promise and I am going to keep it.
Suddenly, Raymond heard a whole lot of people running their way. Immediately, he turned around and knocked Bosco over causing him to faint and placed him under a tree. Bosco didn’t know kung fu, he would get hurt and these people was going to get Raymond, he didn’t need his friend to get hurt with him. It wasn’t any of Bosco’s business so he shouldn’t have to get hurt. After he did so, he ran up a mountain but one of the soldiers got him and stabbed him but Raymond wasn’t stupid, he threw powder at the man and ran off and far as his feet could take him until he collapsed.

By the time it was noon, Charmaine was just about finished selling all her man tou, she only had about 2 left so she packed up to leave, as she was walking home, she saw two beggars and they were only kids, they girl was around 7 and the boy was around 8, she looked at them and being the kind-hearted person she is, she took the remaining man tou and walked towards them.
Charmaine- are you hungry?
Kid 1/ Kid 2- (nod nod)
Charmaine- here. (gave them the remaining man tou)
Kid 1/ Kid 2- thank you Jie jie (older sister or any girl that is older than you)
Charmaine- it’s ok. Where are your parents?
Kid 1 /Kid 2- Parents…we don’t have any.
Charmaine- Would you be alright here…by yourself?
Kid 1 (the boy)- Of Coarse… I will look after my sister.
Charmaine- Well if you ever need my help I live up the mountain.
Kid 1/Kid 2- bye, jie jie.
Charmaine- Bye. (smile and then walked off)

As Charmaine arrived home, she left her things in the house and got a backpack woven out of straw to go and collect the herbs. As she was walking, she spotted the plant she needed and walked over to it but tripped and fell to the ground. Charmaine stood up and looked at what she had clumsily tripped on. She opened her eyes in amazement as she saw what it was.
