Chapter 2
As she finally realized that they were indeed NewS standing in front of her Christine screamed and shouted, “Eh?!”
She closed her mouth and then with wide eyes reverted to her native language and shouted, “WHAT THE HELL?!”
All of the NewS members erupted in laughter at seeing this strange girl’s reaction and walked back to the living room except for two of them.
“Ano…what are you doing here?” Christine asked while slightly arching an eyebrow and trying desperately hard not to lose her footing and fall on the floor.
“Welcome our dear foreigner friend!” A young looking boy shouted while throwing his arms in the air and jumping towards a still shocked Christine. “I’m Yuya!” he said while grinning and stopping in front of her.
The other one walked to Christine’s other side and put his hand on her luggage. He grinned and said, “I guess Johnny-san didn’t tell you huh? Oh by the way my name is Koyama Keichiro.”
Christine looked at Koyama with her mouth still open. This was not happening…what were NewS doing here? And why the hell where they introducing themselves? And Johnny-san? Surely…no…no…this can’t be…she thought to herself while staring blankly at a still grinning Koyama.
"It's a test..." Tegoshi said, breaking Christine’s thoughts and slight day dream making her turn to look at him. “Johnny-san decided to make us live with a foreigner for the whole summer so that we get some non-Japanese fanatic fan girl interaction...”
Christine gasped while covering her mouth and widening her eyes. “Yeah we are not thrilled either.” Came a voice from behind and when she lifted her eyes she saw NewS’ leader arching an eyebrow and passing through.
Tegoshi giggled and said, “Oh don’t mind Pi, he’s a bit cranky today! Let’s show you your new room!”
Koyama nodded and pulled Christine’s luggage with him as Tegoshi grabbed her hand and pulled her behind him. They walked up the stairs and went along a long corridor. They stopped at the second door to the right and opened the pine door revealing a large room.
The room was white, with white curtains flowing with the afternoon breeze and a large double bed with white sheets and pink butterflies hanging on the walls. It wasn’t a cluttered room at all and she noticed that there was also a balcony which overlooked the garden. “Wow…” Christine said while looking around the room.
Tegoshi smiled and said, “It’s right next to my room!” while pointing to the left.
“Really?” Christine said while looking at the hyper boy next to her. She couldn’t help but laugh at how cute he looked. She already felt that he was going to be a good source of company and a potential friend.
“Yeah! And it’s right in front of Ryo-chan’s room!” Tegoshi added while looking back at the room opposite, which had the door closed.
“Oh…” Christine said while feeling her stomach turn.
“And that is Pi’s room!” Tegoshi said while pointing to the room on the right.
“Ah…” she said while feeling nauseous.
“My room is over there!” Koyama said while pointing to the room next to Ryo’s. “That’s Shige’s room,” he added while pointing to the room next to Ryo’s and opposite Pi’s.
“And over there is Massu’s room!” Tegoshi shouted while pointing to the room at the end of the corridor.
“Wow…this is a big house…” Christine muttered while looking at the end of the hall at Massu’s room.
“You have seen nothing yet! Look at this!” Koyama said while entering Christine’s room and opening a door from her wardrobe. It slid open and she gasped when she saw that there was a bathroom inside.
“COOL!” Christine said in her native tongue earning a couple of questioning looks from the two stars beside her.
“I don’t know what you said but isn’t it cool?!” Koyama said with a grin while bobbing his head up and down eagerly awaiting for the girl to agree with him.
“It is!” Christine agreed while jumping up and down in excitement.
“And there is a gym upstairs!” Koyama said while jumping up and down with her, soon enough Tegoshi joined them as well.
“Eh?” Christine said as she stopped jumping. “Usso…(no way)” she uttered, not quite believing Koyama.
“Yes I swear! You can go check it out!” he said while pushing her outside of the room and towards another flight of stairs.
They climbed up the stairs and surely enough instead of an attic they found a gym. There was a skylight and so there was a lot of light in the room. Christine clicked her tongue and arched an eyebrow. “Pfft probably to keep you boys fit…” she said while turning back down.
“Shige keeps lifting up weights always complaining that he is small…” Koyama said while following Christine down stairs back to the second floor.
“I can’t seem to grow bigger either!” Tegoshi whined as he skipped after the two of them, inspecting his small arms for any sign of muscle growth.
“You don’t need to be bigger…you are fine just the way you are…” she said while crossing her arms over her chest and furrowing her eyebrows.
Koyama and Tegoshi’s jaw hung open and neither of them knew what to say. Did that mean that she liked skinny boys? That no matter what a person looks like, she still liked them?
“What’s that noise?” Christine said while looking around her.
“I think it’s your phone…” Koyama said while pointing to Christine’s room.
“Oh shit!” she exclaimed while putting her hands on her head and running towards the room. Again she used her native language and so they didn’t know that she actually cursed.
“Ne lets go downstairs” Koyama said while looking at Tegoshi, who nodded and followed him towards the others.
Christine stumbled into her room and picked the ringing pink phone which she had put on her bed.
“Hello?” she said a bit uncertain on whom the caller might be.
“Christine-san?” a male voice said over the phone.
“Hai (Yes)” she said while sitting on her bed and arching an eyebrow in confusion.
“This is Kitagawa Johnny. I am the one who set up the competition and brought you here to Japan. I hope that my boys have welcomed you.” He said in a deep voice which exuded authority.
“Uh…yeah…but I just wanted to say one thing…are you out of your mind?! How can a girl live with six hot blooded guys for 3 months?! Do you think it is safe? I mean not that I think that I am so attractive as to cause one of them to attack me but it could happen!” Christine shouted while clenching her fists tightly.
Johnny did something which caught her completely off guard. He laughed. “Don’t worry Miss, I have strictly advised them not to do anything to you, if anything happens just give me a call on this phone. I will call to check up on you from time to time. The reason I did this was because I didn’t want my boys to grow up in a world filled with girls who throw themselves at their feet. I want them to interact with people who do not treat them differently because they are stars, that is why I specifically asked for foreigners.”
“Oh…” she said while forming her mouth into an ‘O’ and staring into space.
“You will be living with them for three months and I want you to treat them normally. I have also installed their numbers into this phone so I suggest you keep this on you at all times. Well good luck Christine-san. If there is anything just call me. Ja ne!” and with that he hung up.
Christine moved the pink phone away from her ear and stared at it with a shocked expression on her face. Her mouth was open and her heart was beating fast. I can’t possibly live here with these guys for 3 whole months! I won’t be able to be myself! I will always have to keep myself in check and try to look presentable… “arrgh!” she grumbled while ruffling her hair and sighing loudly.
Wait…maybe it won’t be so bad…yeah…maybe we can even become friends…she thought to herself while getting up from her bed and walking out of her room. Yeah or maybe I could just ignore them…yeah that would be a good idea…ignore them…ignore th—but Christine's thoughts were broken when she bumped into something soft. She gulped and looked up, to find that she had bumped into Ryo.
“Ah…gomenasai! (I’m sorry!)” She said while bowing her head to an exaggerated angle, trying to hide her blush.
Ryo chuckled at her silliness and smiled while continuing to walk down towards the others.
Oh. My. God. She mouthed silently at Ryo’s back. That was so embarrassing! She thought to herself while mentally hitting herself on the head. I wonder how Jes is doing…she thought while pouting sadly, still following Ryo towards the living room.
She then stopped walking and realised that she had unconsciously walked right in front of them. All the NewS members were sitting looking at her. Tegoshi was sitting on a beanie bag on the floor. Massu was sitting on the white sofa nearest to him resting his chin on his hand which was on the arm rest. Koyama was sitting next to Massu and he had his hands over his chest and a big grin on his face. Yamapi was sitting next to Koyama with a smirk on his face and hands over his chest. Ryo was sitting next to Yamapi with his hands at his sides looking very serious. Shige was sitting on a separate sofa while fiddling with his fingers.
Christine shuffled a bit on her feet when she caught all the boys looking at her. She looked down at her feet and bit her bottom lip. She hated when people looked at her, it made her feel very anxious and under a microscope. She glanced back up and saw that they were looking at her with strange looks…almost as if expecting her to melt right in front of them. She tilted her head and thought, eh? Are they waiting for me to actually melt in a puddle of goo right in front of them? All because they are so hot and looking like models with those eyes and lip—WAIT! Seriously Chri get a hold of yourself. They are mocking you here…show them what you got!
She shook her head slightly and her shy look was replaced by a determined one. She stepped closer to them and with one of her hands on her hips and the other one stretched out she said, “Hello my name is Christine, I am going to be living together with you for these three months. I hope we can get along!” and she flashed them one of her tooth paste commercial smiles.
Yamapi rolled his eyes and said, “We will get along just fine…as long as you don’t come near me.”
When she heard this Christine gasped and quickly regained herself. “Who the hell do you think you are? I am not going to jump on you and tear your clothes off so relax...Pfft...and for your information you don't look so hot in person...I guess make up does wonders ne?” and she flashed him another grin. Okay maybe that was a bit too harsh...this was one of her flaws…when she felt attacked she retaliated in the bitchiest way possible.
Yamapi almost lost his balance out of shock while Ryo snickered next to him. “Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?!” he said while clenching his fists angrily and leaning forwards.
Shige had gasped so loudly that he choked on his own spit and was now coughing exaggeratedly. Tegoshi had his jaw open and was staring at Christine, suddenly seeing her in a new light. Massu leaned forward and stared at the girl in front of him with a shocked expression on his face. Koyama had slid down over across to Shige and was patting him on the back.
Christine bit her lower lip guiltily, aw damn there I go again…me and my big mouth…but hey he asked for it! She thought while looking at the floor, avoiding their gazes.
“I asked you a question…” Yamapi said while narrowing his eyes and forming a thin line with his lips. He detested people who did not show respect to him.
She looked directly into his eyes and smiled. “Christine desu! (I’m Christine)” she said in a sickeningly sweet, mocking, voice while poking her cheeks.
Ryo burst out laughing at the clueless expression on Yamapi’s face. This guy was too funny…it had been a while since someone other than himself had actually made fun of their leader. It felt good. When he saw Yamapi stiffen he put a hand over his shoulder and said “Calm down dude, she is only joking…and besides you started it.” He said the grin still on his face.
Yamapi turned to look at Ryo with a shocked expression on his face, and then they suddenly heard a ringing phone coming from upstairs.
“Oh no!” Christine shouted while putting her hands comically on her head. “That’s my phone!” she shouted in English as she rushed upstairs.
“Isn’t her phone down here?” Massu asked while pointing at the small pink phone on the table.
“I guess it’s her other phone.” Koyama said still rubbing Shige’s back.
“Maybe it’s her family calling!” Tegoshi said while smiling.
“Maybe it’s the psychopathic ward from the hospital telling her she forgot to take some pills…” Yamapi said with a slight smirk at his own comment.
“Pi that’s so mean…funny…but very mean…” Ryo said while smiling as well.
“Ne guys what are we going to do with her?” Massu asked while inching closer to his group mates.
“We are just going to give her a proper NewS welcome…” Yamapi said earning an evil smirk from his band mates, except for Tegoshi, who did not like the idea of doing that to his new friend.
