Christine plopped on her bed while reading the text message she got from home…from Jesse to be more precise.
[Hey there! I hope everything is ok…here it’s so boring without you ;P Try your best and I am sure you will make lots of new friends! Take care.]
She smiled and sighed happily. She turned on her back and looked up at the ceiling smiling. This was all she needed, some encouraging words from the person that mattered most. “Yeosh!” she said while sitting up. “I can do this!” She got up from her bed, and after sending a quick reply she went back downstairs with a new attitude and determined to make friends with these guys.
When she arrived downstairs she went into the living room with a big smile on her face, determined to make friends with these guys. After all they were going to live with each other for three months, they could at least be friends.
She looked around and found one of them sitting on the couch reading a magazine. She jumped on the couch and slid next to him. “Hello…” she said with a toothy grin.
The guy was reading a magazine…and stayed reading completely ignoring her. Christine narrowed her eyes and twisted her lips disapprovingly. Didn’t he hear me? She thought to herself while slightly tilting her head. She cleared her throat and was about to repeat her greeting when the boy suddenly got up from the chair and walked away. She let her jaw drop closer to the floor as she slightly gasped. “What the hell is wrong with him? I never thought Shige was such an ass…” she said in her native language so that none of them would understand her.
Shige walked inside the kitchen where Massu, Tegoshi and Koyama were. Shige sat down on the chair and sighed. “Man it was so hard ignoring her! I think I did a good job right?” Shige asked while wiping his brow from imaginary sweat.
“Leader would be proud…” Massu said while smiling and popping a piece of chocolate in his mouth.
Tegoshi sighed and rested his head on his hand. He did not agree with the others in treating her that way…
Suddenly all of the boys became quiet since Christine had just entered the kitchen. Shige went back to reading his book, Massu was engrossed with his chocolate, Koyama continued to make a puzzle and Tegoshi just stared at the table top.
Christine walked over to them and said, “Hey guys how about I make us something to eat?”
Massu instinctively looked up and was about to smile at Christine and say yes when he was nudged by Shige to remain silent. He quietly apologized and lowered his head while pouting.
“Oh so this is how it is…” Christine mumbled to herself while looking at the guys in front of her.
She smiled a very evil smile and crossed her hands over her chest thinking about her next move. She needed to study these guys, learn their weaknesses. Just then Yamapi entered the kitchen followed by Ryo. They stopped in the doorway and looked right through Christine, making her blood boil. “Ne guys I got this cool DVD want to watch it?” Yamapi said while holding up two DVD boxes.
“What do you have?” Koyama asked while looking up from the puzzle he was making.
“Uh…Saw or Transformers.” Yamapi said while looking at the titles on the two boxes he was holding.
“Oh Transformers! I don’t want to watch Saw…” Shige said while slightly blushing and scratching his cheek.
“Oh good! I get so afraid from watching scary movies!” Christine suddenly exclaimed while clapping.
“Ah so Saw it is…” Yamapi said while holding up the DVD box in his hand.
“Yeah sure. I like Saw. I always wanted to see it.” Shige said completely contradicting his previous statement.
Christine narrowed her eyes and clenched her fists. They are trying to make me lose my mind and be angry at them…well I am not going to let them win! She smiled sickeningly sweet and said, “Ah I think I’m going upstairs. Thank god you guys are watching Saw…I didn’t feel like watching a DVD anyways…”
She smiled again and walked right out of the kitchen and up the stairs where her smile dissolved and a determined look appeared instead. She opened her bedroom door and closed it behind her. She then sat down at the small desk there was and switched on her laptop. She needed to study the enemy and what better way than using the internet.
When they heard her bedroom door close Yamapi and Ryo sat down around the table and everybody breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed. “That was good guys…” Yamapi said with a smile.
“Ne don’t you think that we are being a little too mean?” Tegoshi said with a concerned look on his pretty face.
“No.” Yamapi said, “We have only just begun. In the end I want her to want to leave…”
Tegoshi bit his lips and nodded. He couldn’t go against the leader now could he?
Shige ran his fingers through his hair and said, “Ne Pi…are we really going to watch Saw?”
“HELL NO!” Yamapi said while getting up from the table.
“I think that this is not going to work…” Ryo mumbled to himself while also getting up and yawning loudly.
“What do you mean?” Koyama asked while gathering his puzzle.
“It’s her first day here…away from her family and we are treating her like that…most girls would have burst out crying by now…and you know what she is doing?” Ryo asked while looking at all the confused members one by one.
“What?” Shige asked while leaning forward.
Ryo chuckled and put his hands in his pockets. “She is studying…”
“Studying?” Tegoshi asked while raising his eyebrows.
“Yep…” Ryo said the smile still on his face.

Christine narrowed her eyes as she started to scan the page she was on. There were a lot of pictures of NewS and NewS fans but she just couldn’t find any suitable information. All she managed to find out was that Koyama was the motherly figure of the group, Massu loved food, Ryo was from Osaka and had a sharp tongue, Tegoshi admired Yamapi, Shige is proud of his belly button and Yamapi is the leader who took almost 3 years to open up to his band mates.
She sighed as she rubbed her itchy eyes. “This is going to be harder than I thought…” she said to herself. Then suddenly a video caught her eyes and she clicked on it. Apparently it featured Yamapi being a sore loser when he was younger at a rowing race.
She watched the video and when Yamapi lost and began to throw a tantrum she burst out laughing at the ridiculous contradiction she was watching. Was this wailing boy the same guy that was downstairs? She had to see more. She began to click on slideshows showing the boys in various sexy poses. She blinked a couple of times and began to laugh again. Some of their costumes where just too funny! She found it that they looked best when they were acting normal and not ‘trying’ to be sexy.
After watching the tenth video she decided on what she was about to do. She leaned back in her chair and a smile appeared on her face. She was going to be battling NewS and she was determined to win.
Suddenly her home mobile phone started to ring and she got up from her chair and sat on her bed. Her heart automatically skipped a beat when she saw who the caller was. She took a deep breath and answered it.
“Hello…” she said in a timid voice.
“Chri? It’s me…” he said automatically smiling upon hearing the voice he missed so much.
“Hey Jes…” she said, her heart beating faster at the sound of his voice.
“How are you Chri?” he asked while looking out of the window at the clear blue sky and fanning himself since it was a really hot day.
“I’m fine…” she said in a slightly sad tone while lying on her bed, looking up at the ceiling. It was already dark in Japan and she felt more alone than ever.
“Are you sure? You don’t sound fine to me Chri…” Jesse said while walking away from the window and sitting on his bed as well.
“Ah…it’s just…” she said, her voice cracking a bit as her eyes stung. She hadn’t known how much she was feeling alone until he called her.
“What’s wrong Chri? You know I hate it when you feel sad…tell me…” Jesse urged her in his sweet voice, while feeling his heart ache upon hearing her voice sound like that.
“I feel alone…I don’t seem to have clicked with my roommates yet…” she confessed while resting her hand over her forehead.
“How long have you been there Chri?” Jesse asked with a slight smile.
“Uh…about four hours…” she said while biting her bottom lip.
“So you don’t expect to make friends straight away. I am sure that they just need more time to get to know you better…don’t give up straight away Chri. Come on cheer up!” he said while holding the necklace she had bought him for his birthday back in April.
Christine smiled and closed her eyes. “How do you do it? You always have the right thing to say Jes…” she said in a slightly happier tone.
Jesse chuckled and said, “Well that’s because I care about you…”
“…”
“…”
When she heard him say that she opened her eyes wide as a blush appeared on her face and she sat up on her bed. All she could hear was her heart beating in her ears. Had he just sort of confessed to her?
He couldn’t believe that he had said that. His jaw hung open and couldn’t manage to say another word. Had he just confessed? Oh god he was so stupid! He held onto the dresser to keep his balance and finally managed to say, “Uh I gotta go…bye…I will call you again…”
“Okay…” she said and hung up. She slowly closed her phone and kept looking at it. She put it down on her bed and suddenly jumped up onto the floor. She threw her hands in the air and started jumping up and down while screaming happily.

“Does she have exams?” Shige asked while sitting down on the sofa.
Ryo rolled his eyes and said, “Never mind…you will find out soon enough.”
“Just stop talking about that fangirl already…lets enjoy the movie.” Yamapi said while turning on the tv set and making himself comfortable by propping up pillows all around him.
After some time the boys were watching the movie when suddenly they heard laughter erupting from upstairs. Each of them felt a little curious as to what she was laughing at and also a little uncomfortable.
After the fourth time she burst out laughing Shige put his feet on the floor and got up hastily. “I can’t take it anymore! I want to know what is so funny!” he said while clenching his fists.
Koyama reached out and grabbed his hand. “No! Don’t go! Control yourself Shige!” He pleaded.
“But I can’t! I can’t take it anymore!” Shige whined while falling down on his knees dramatically.
“Shige…” Yamapi said, his eyes not leaving the screen.
“What?” Shige asked while looking at the concentrated Yamapi.
“Shut up and stay put.” He ordered.
“Hai (Ok)” Shige said in a sad tone while getting up from the floor and sitting back down.
As the movie continued more laughter could be heard and then suddenly everything went quiet. They all sighed in relief as they could finally enjoy the movie without any interruptions. Massu was munching on some popcorn while eyeing Yamapi’s M&M’s begging with his eyes to take one. Yamapi was so engrossed in the movie that he was completely unaware of Massu eyeing his M&M’s every time he popped one in his mouth. Ryo was narrowing his eyes at the intense amount of special effects these American movies were using. Koyama was going in and out of sleep. Tegoshi was enjoying seeing all those big robots. Shige was seeing his car in a totally different way.
Suddenly they heard a loud thumping noise and a scream. The scream caught them all completely off guard.
“What now?” Yamapi said while looking up at the direction of the stairs.
“I don’t know…” Koyama said in a groggy voice while clutching a pillow tighter to him.
“Ne…where is Ryo?” Tegoshi asked while looking at the empty space were Ryo once was.

“Oh my god!” Christine squealed again while putting her hands on her cheeks and closing her eyes tightly. She jumped some more and started to wriggle her hips turning around in a complete circle. She was half way turning around when she stopped and opened her mouth in shock.
“What are you doing?” Ryo asked while leaning against the door frame.
Shoot…Christine thought while biting her lower lip and blushing insanely. “Uh…I was…” she started to think about a lot of things she could say…

“I was practicing my dance moves…”
“My parents just won the lottery and I was celebrating…”
“I was having a seizure…”
“Huh? Who are you? Where am I? WHO am I?”

Christine immediately shook her head and blinked a few times. What could she say which wasn’t embarrassing?
Nothing…
She should just say the truth.
“I was just fooling around…sorry to have disturbed you…” she said while putting her best innocent grin on her face and bowing slightly.
Ryo tilted his head slightly and turned around and left.
Christine gulped and put a hand over her heart. That was close…but OH MY GOD Jesse just told me he cared about me!
She giggled again while turning around and spinning on her heels, then falling on her bed with a plop.
She grabbed her pillow and hugged it tightly towards her.

“Where were you Ryo?” Yamapi asked as soon as Ryo had entered the living room.
Ryo walked nonchalantly towards his spot on the couch and sat back down. He ran his fingers through his black hair and said, “I went up to my room.”
“Oh…” Yamapi said while looking back at the screen.
“Is Christine-chan ok?” Tegoshi asked while leaning forward.
“Why don’t you go ask her yourself.” Ryo said while grabbing a handful of Massu’s popcorn, causing Massu to gasp.
“He will do no such thing!” Yamapi said while looking from Ryo to Tegoshi.
Tegoshi stiffened and lay back down on the sofa. He felt so bad for ignoring her, but he couldn’t go against his leader and beloved senpai’s word right?
