Forewords

This MIGHT turn out to be a short story! But it isn't a oneshot. By the way, I've changed my Screen Name again-.- i know, don't give me that look if you know who I am. As usual, please guess:D

Love you guys.

Now here's the forewords of Culmination.

Things actually started with just the two of us, back then when he was still mine, for keeps. We’d never thought of ourselves as one without the other, but I guess things could change.

They did change, that one night when he came over for dinner.

They changed drastically.

“Hey Elle, it’s, uh, getting dark out.”

I laughed at him, staring into his brown eyes lazily as I remained in my position under the tree, my head on his lap, my heart in my ears, thumping as loud as the day I was first born. This was my best friend, Chun Wu, and I never intended to let him go, not ever.

“So?” I shot back cheekily, hoping he’d have the reaction I desired.

“How about, uh, I send you home?” he asked. Almost blushing; his eyes widened when he caught my expression.

I smiled at him and got to my feet, “Come over for dinner then, it’s been awhile since you last did so.”

I didn’t expect my sister to be home that night. She’d been overseas for two years now, studying to get a degree in law. I was, and had always been stuck in Tai Pei, in my final year of university. Ariel was two years younger than me, and much, much prettier.

That said, she had always felt like she lost out to me since young. Every time I had something I wanted, she’d ask our parents why. They always, always told her, “Because she’s older than you,”

We still loved each other like Life itself, just because it was like that. So when the chance came for only either one of us to be sent overseas, I gave the offer to her. She was elated.

It was the only edge she’d ever had over me, and I was sure she wouldn’t let go of it that easily.

-

But when she opened the door that night, I knew, in an instant – that degree in law would never be the only thing she won me in, ever again. Right that instant I knew by instinct that before I could avoid this battle, I had lost it.

I got through that night fine and unharmed, but I cannot even begin to tell you about the nights after. Every night after that Chun came over for dinner on the pretext of sending me home. Every night we both knew better. Things came to a stage where I could no longer be around.

This was my best friend, Chun Wu, whom I eventually did let go of.

But first, I must tell you about that first night.

The night when my sister broke my heart.

there you go, your first glimpse of this twisted(albeit cliched) story!:D
