Chapter 7: A-P-P-L-E

Jaejoong thought the day would never end. Ae was insisting on introducing him to practically every student in the entire school, mainly the girls. Plus the attention he was receiving from the male students was distracting and disturbing to him. He wonder briefly how many anti-depressant/relaxers he had popped unseenly that day....1...2....4....he knew he wasn’t allow to go past eight, so he had a few more for that day.

Junsu wasn’t helping either. He was loved by everyone and constantly asking him questions he was unsure of how to answered, knowing he wasn’t suppose to give away too many details about his life. Meaning he’d had to make things up, meaning he needed to remember them for future reference. Jaejoong closed his eyes, rubbing his temples, trying to rid the climbing headache.

Jaejoong jumped as something cold pressed against his forehead.
“Sorry Jyooliang, wasn’t trying to scare you.”
Jaejoong looked at Junsu, blinking, then took the cold juice he offered him.
“Thanks oppa.”
Junsu sat leaned against the low stone wall, which Jaejoong was at the moment sitting on, hiding from the students near the green house at the back of the school.
“How did you know I was here?” Jaejoong said.
“This is where I came when I first transferred, it’s quiet, and isolated. I figured any smart person would find it. Headache?”
“Yes. Its been....a busy day.”
“First day is always tough, it gets better though.”
“I guess. Don’t you have practice?” Jaejoong asked sipping the apple juice, looking at it.
“Not today,” Junsu replied, sipping his own apple juice.
Jaejoong looked at his can, “Why apple juice?”
“A-p-p-l-e,” Junsu spelt in English, sounding like a five year old.
Jaejoong laughed, Junsu smiled at him.
“I like how its spelt in English.”
“That is one reason I guess.”
“I just really like apple juice, it’s....homey.” Junsu said with a shrug.
Jaejoong nodded in agreement, “It is.”
“Are you going to join any clubs?”
“Huh?” Jaejoong asked, as Junsu jumped up to sit next to him.
“Clubs, are you going to join any? Trust me, tomorrow reps are going to be hounding to have the pretty new city girl in there club.”
Jaejoong laughed shyly, blushing, “I doubt it.”
“Nope, already heard the cheerleaders talking about.”
Jaejoong groan, “Your joking right?”
“Nope....trust me those girls are ruthless, so pick something before they get to you.”
“What if I don’t want to join a club?”
“No choice really in this school.”
“Serious?”
“Pretty much”
“What should I pick?”
“What do you like?”
“Uh.....stud-I don’t know.”
“Student Council?” Junsu asked.
“I was in it back home.....uh...class rep.”
“I see, why don’t you join that? You don’t be a rep but there are lots of other things to do.”
“No....no SC.”
“OK....hmm...cooking?”
“I already know how to cook, I don’t want to be in a club that tries to teach me stuff I already know.”
Junsu chuckled, “Ok, understandable. How good?”
Jaejoong smiled, “I’ve been cooking since as far back as I can remember.”
“Wow, ok no cooking...hmm....gardening?”
Jaejoong shook his head, “No...I’m a city girl remember?”
Junsu threw his head back and laughed, “Good point, well there are lots of things to do. If you like I can show you the different clubs.”

Jaejoong thought for a moment, his headache forgotten but not gone. He needed to make this new life work, pushing it off wouldn’t help.
He smiled at Junsu, “Hmm..okay, don’t have much else to do.”
“OK, come on,” Junsu slid off the wall took Jaejoong around the waist and lowered him to the ground.
Jaejoong blushed, and brushed the dirt from his uniform to avoid Junsu noticing. Jaejoong took a deep breath and looked up at him, Junsu was looking past him.
Jaejoong turned to see what he was looking at, storm clouds roared at a distant.
“Rain...”
“Yeah...why don’t we start with the art club?”
Jaejoong nodded and walked next to him, back towards the school.

BOOM!!
Jaejoong and Junsu hurried to get out of the rain, having been out in the open fields, where Junsu was telling him about different sports for girls there were. They raced towards the school, Junsu holding onto Jaejoong hand, pulling him along gently. The school was empty inside, they walked along the halls, soaked until they came to the first restrooms they saw, each going to dry off.

Jaejoong entered the girl’s restroom a little nervously, but it was empty. Jaejoong grabbed some paper towels and dried himself off as best he could. His make-up was ruined so he had no choice but to finished washing it off, he stared at his reflect, trying to remind himself of who he was. They he dried his hair as best he could, then uniform before coming out. Junsu was looking out the window at the black sky, rain pouring down in sheets.

“Doesn’t look like it will stop anytime soon,” Jaejoong mumbled.
“Not likely, lets find a spot to wait it out. Most of the classrooms are empty, one or two upstairs might still have clubs in them, but most should have left before the storm started.”
Jaejoong nodded, watching Junsu turn around from the window to look at him. Jaejoong studied him as he followed Junsu, he had turned serious suddenly, the change was....breathtaking. He went from a boy who was cute to handsome in mere seconds, the difference was astounding, no wonder the girls here went gaga over him.

Junsu opened their home room classroom door, Jaejoong followed him in, then sat down on top of a desk next to the window. The over lights turned on.
Jaejoong turned to look at Junsu, who shrugged, “This way we know if the lights go out or something. There should be some blankets in here......”
Junsu opened some of the cabinets, finding a pile of blankets.
“Why?” Jaejoong asked.
“Emergency normally, and sometimes it gets cold, we can just come and grab a blanket when we want.”
“Oh! That is nice,” Jaejoong stated as Junsu wrapped a blanket around him.
“Better?” Junsu asked, placing another top.
Jaejoong nodded, his cold, trembling body starting to stop.
Junsu sat on the desk next to him, with no blankets.
“Aren’t you cold?”
“A bit, but I am going to go and grab us something to eat from the cafeteria machines encase the lights go out.”
“Oh...want me to go with you?” Jaejoong asked.
“No, I got it,” Junsu walked to the door, “You’ll be ok by yourself, Jyooliang?”
“Yes,” Jaejoong replied.
Junsu nodded and walked out, Jaejoong waited a few moments then sighed in relief.
Jaejoong looked out the window, and wondered what kind of mess did he get himself into.
