Chapter 9

The Date

“Oh my God! You weren’t kidding when you said Ambrose’s cousin was one heck of a hunk…looked at his muscle, face…is he a model?” Gillian whispered excitedly in Crystal’s ear. Crystal smiled impishly at her friend; she has never seen Gillian so excited over a guy before.
“Stop drooling! He’s my date!” Crystal teased. Gillian grabbed a napkin from the table and quickly wiped her mouth. Crystal couldn’t help but chuckled, she was trying very hard not to laugh at Gillian.
“Hey your date’s not bad, why don’t you pay more attention to him!”
Gillian and Crystal both smiled at the guys when they arrived with their foods. Wu Zun and Jiro Wang grinned at the two pretty girls.
“If I had known there were so many pretty girls here, we would have brought Calvin and Aaron with us!” Jiro said to Wu Zun, who nodded in agreement and looked at Crystal shyly. Wu Zun and Crystal had talked the whole week before meeting face to face. This was the first time he had actually liked a girl before even knowing how she looks. Wu Zun was skeptical and talked to Crystal as a favor for his favorite cousin Ambrose, but now he was glad that he did because Crystal was not only pretty, she was sweet and friendly…just the kind of girl for him.
“Come on and sit down I’m starving!” Crystal said and playfully pulled Wu down next to her.
“So what are your plans for after graduation?” Jiro asked Gillian, who was still drooling at Wu. Jiro put his hands on Gillian’s head and slowly turned her head around to face him. Gillian blushed,
“Sorry…what did you say?” She asked.
“What are your plans for after graduation?” Jiro repeated. He frowned at Gillian; she looks nice and appeared smart but why is she such a ditz?
“I’m…I want to get married…” she said, back staring at Wu again. Jiro signed…next time when he goes on a date, it’ll be without Wu.
Crystal laughed and said,
“No, we’re both planning to go college. Gillian’s not herself tonight.”
“I hope you apply for the college that we’re attending. I’d like to see you more often…” Wu said shyly. Crystal grinned at him, he was so soft spoken and shy…even more shy than her. I think I can really get to liking him if we spend more time together! Crystal thought.
“I think I’d like that too, I heard a lot of good news about your school…”

“Why is Gillian laughing so loud? What’s so funny?” Jay was practically fuming from behind the counter. Edison shrugged, he was surprised too when Jay called him and told him the girls were on a date. The guys must be ugly as hell and smell like old farts! Who in their right mind would want to date Crystal? Edison was all excited and giddy, he wanted to go crash the date and make fun of Crystal…but he was shock beyond his wildest imagination when he saw Crystal laughing and joking with…a very decent looking guy. He doesn’t look like he smell so there must be something else wrong with him…why would he want to date Crystal? Edison was puzzled and he was angry at the same time. It was hard for him to understand why he was feeling so uptight about Crystal dating…and he refused to acknowledge that it might just be…jealousy. No it’s not jealousy…it’s because Crystal is his tutor but she’s been neglecting her duties since last week!
“So what are we going to do?” Jay asked.
“We’re going to follow them on their date…make sure the guys are safe from them.” Edison said.
“You mean make sure the girls are safe from the guys?” Jay asked.
“No, those guys obviously are new in town…and not aware of the danger of being with…”
“What danger? I’d like to date Gillian too but I’m invisible in her eyes.” Jay said sadly.
“Shhh…don’t be too loud or they’re hear us!”
Edison and Jay continued spying the girls on their date. The more Crystal smile and laugh, the angrier Edison became. He suddenly jumped from behind the counter when he saw Crystal holding her date’s hand as they got up from the table to leave.
“What the hell are you doing?” Edison asked, face flush in anger. Crystal and Gillian widened their eyes in shock when they saw Edison and Jay standing behind the counter, with huge tinted sun glasses, large black overcoat and fake mustaches. Gillian was giggling in the back but Crystal tried very hard not to laugh,
“Sir, I have never seen you before in my life. Please excuse us.” She grabbed Wu’s hands and they left the fast food joint, leaving Edison and Jay behind staring after them.
