Love can be an eternity, or it can be just a game. It is blindness and sometimes we don't know the situations we're in until something goes horribly wrong. When you feel betrayed by someone you really loved, don't give up hope on life and everyone else, not everyone will betray you. Think of it as a phase you have to go through as part of life. And when you have, leave it behind, move on and don't look back. Life is full of miracles, don't hold on to your past sorrows and throw away your happiness for the future. It is not worth it.
-End Of Gillian’s POV-
The class ended and Gillian slowly walked out of the room. She headed to the canteen. There she saw Charlene sitting on the table. Gillian walked toward her. This time she was ready for her explanation.
“Charlene, first, I wanted to say sorry for leaving you behind. I know I was wrong in doing that, but you have to understand me, if something happened to you, I don’t know what I would do. You’re not like me. You have your parents, and they love you. I only have myself, if I ever I die, no one would care.” Gillian took a deep breath as she whispered that last part. She looked into Charlene’s eyes. Charlene could understand that she really meant what she said. Charlene began to hold her hand and speak softly.
“Gillian, I thought you understood me. I’m your best friend, no, more than that; I am your sister in everyway but blood. Even though we’re not related, I care for you as if you were my big sister. I know you look out for me, but you have to let me be who I want to be, and do what I want to do. I truly wanted to go with you there, I also want to share your feelings. And no, I don’t want you to die. You were always there for me when I needed you the most, so let me be there for you.” Charlene exclaimed and she see Gillian is touched by her words. “Anyway, did you see any hot dude's there?” Charlene joked as she tried to lighten their moods.
“No, I only saw some trashy people there. So uneducated, so stupid, so rude, so disrespectful, so pervert, so…” Gillian didn’t finish her ranting because she felt someone poking at her. Gillian turn around and see who might it be. It’s him, but why he here? What do he want from her?
“Hi hunnie” He said with his smile on his face.
“What do you want loser? Didn’t you make yourself look like a fool enough yesterday? And also, who are you calling “hunnie”?” Gillian said as she turned around. She was not a patient person so Gillian stood up, and gave him a cold stare, waiting for him to answer.
“Chill chill, I just wanted to come here and give you something you left behind. You left your bracelet in my car yesterday.” He raised his eyebrow as he hold the bracelet high. He handed her the bracelet with a loving look in his eyes, but she couldn't really tell, she saw it as a unidentifiable emotion that he tried miserably to hold inside himself, not letting' her know.
“What the hell, it’s not mine. Might be someone else’s that was in your car before and left it, which you just now notice. Moreover, I would never have enough money to afford it.” Gillian exclaimed with her attitude. She turned around and looked at Charlene, “Charlene, let’s go. We got that report to finish. Why bother wasting time here talking to a fool.”
“No, I don’t want to go. What about ya keep arguing and I’ll just watch. This is better than those soap operas I watch on TV.” Charlene replied and looked in Edison's direction. He seems speechless. He just stared at Gillian like he was crazy, without blinking his eyes. Charlene somehow found it funny, and couldn’t resist from laughing out loud.
“It’s not funny Charlene. Just ignore the jerk and get moving. I need to go to the library and get some books for the report. So are you gonna go with me or sit here and talk to him.” Gillian said as she rolled her eyes at Edison.
“Ahem” Edison finally speak up. “For your information, I’m not a jerk or a fool. I have a name, and my name is Edison. Edison Chen, so please get it right. You’re Ceci’s cousin and ya two are so different! She is nice and sweet and you're all spicy and feisty. But do you know you look really cute when you are mad?” Edison said and examined her. Charlene enjoyed how they fought and quickly she ran to get herself some popcorn and a drink. She sat down again watched Gillian intently, to see what she would say.
“Um…do I care about your name? Did I say I care about your name? No, I didn't think so! So I don’t need to get it right. So what! It doesn’t matter that I’m her cousin; I don’t have to act like her. Do you act like your cousin? No? Then why should I? Oh what the hell, why do I even bother trying to explain, I am making a fool out of myself now just by talking to you.” Gillian said and started to walk away. Behind her, Edison yelled, “Do you want to come to my party?” Then he quickly ran over to her. Charlene see they were leaving and she ran after them too. Gillian walked out of the canteen, and headed towards library.
“So do you?” Edison asked and hoped he would hear the answer he wanted.
“Do I look like I want to go?” Gillian mumbled as she was still walking, Charlene had heard about the party and she was excited.
“Hey, I want to go. Can I?” Charlene asked. She turned to Edison and see what would he say. He just looked at Gillian for a few section and turn back to Charlene. “Sure you can come, it would be nice to have more people there, right Gillian?” Edison smiled. He got the feeling that if Charlene goes to the party, Gillian will come too.
“Sorry Charlene, I can’t go, and neither can you. Remember we have that report to do?” Gillian reminded Charlene about the history presentation they have to finish that was due soon.
“Oh yeah, sorry. I forgot about that.” Charlene scratched her head in embarrassment. Later she turned to Edison and said in a disappoint face, “Um…sorry dude, I can’t go. Got some report to do.”
“Oh, it’s alright. Maybe next time eh?” Edison exclaimed and left. He later on turn back and said “Oh yeah Gillian, your shirt has one button undone.”
Gillian felt so embarrassed. She quickly buttoned her shirt and walked away angry. Charlene heard what Edison said and she cracked up. She cannot force herself to stop laughing.
“Gillian, I think that dude likes you. He is so funny!” Charlene said turning back. But she noticed Gillian had left already. But Gillian wasn't going to the library, instead, she went straight off the university grounds. Gillian slowly walked on the sidewalk, and noticed somehow had follow her. She turned around, and saw him walking close to her.
-Flashback from Gillian’s POV-
Another day went by, another day of a body without a soul. I don't like my job, and I don't like my life. Everything has gone wrong for me. I sometimes think of ending my life but I have so many responsibilities to carry out, responsibility as a nice niece, as a sweet cousin, as a friend and a follower.
Is that true when people say, “promises are meant to be broken?” Then why should a person make such promises, to hurt the others? Isn’t life a fun gamble...you win, you lose...but more often than not, I lose.
“You once promised me you would love me till eternity, but then the promise was broken, you left and forgot everything about us, about me. I was so naive to believe you would one day come back to me, telling me that you have always loved me and no one else. I was actually hoping for that day to come, but all I had was pain and disappointment. But then again, a love without pain isn't really a love. You never loved me, not once or even for a second. I was just a game, a challenge you felt you needed to spice up your life. Nothing more than another point to your score. One more victory. I was so silly to believe that you once loved me.
I sometimes wondered if you ever thought of me, even if for a second. But that doesn't matter anymore. Now that we are apart, I just hope you would remember that I loved you. Truly loved you.”
-End of Flashback From Gillian’s POV-
Gillian remembered him. How could she ever forget? He was the one who broke her heart. What does he want from her? Even after all this time, her heart began to beat faster than usual. He walked closer and closer to her. What did he want, and what could she do about it?
