“Hi Gillian.” He walked up to her casually and kissed on her cheek, as if he had never left her side. He never realized how much she despised that kiss. That kiss reminded her of the kisses he'd give just before he walked out of her life, with that kiss always came a good-bye?
“What do you want from me? To use me again?” Gillian said in her coldest tone and wiped off his kiss. She looked straight into his eyes, and she could sense that he was there only to play her again, like he always did.
“I missed you so much, you could never know how much. I always think of you. Day in and day out, you're always on my mind.” He said with a smile, the fake smile, and the same smile that had fooled Gillian 6 years ago. Every time he came back, he always said that he missed her that he loved her, and he wanted to be with her again. Every time she finally healed from his last cruel departure, he came back; he had to stir it up all those emotions again? Couldn't he just leave her alone for once?
“Save it, I know what you gonna say next. “You still love me and want me to be your woman again”? Find something new to say, and you know what? I gave you so many chances in the past. But you never, ever appreciated it, I always thought up excuses for you, trying to accept that you didn't love me, but I always found that I still loved you. I always forced myself to think that one day, one day, you would truly love me. I waited and waited, but now, I realized that, that day would never come. It's only my fantasy, a dream, and one that would never happen. The old Gillian is dead; she died 6 years ago, after you break her heart. Her heart and her soul were trapped under the weight of your words, saying you don't love her was her death. And now, I'm not who I was 6 years ago, not the same Gillian you're looking for.” Gillian replied with the start of tears in her eyes. She turned away; she didn't want him to see her cry. She took a deep breath and walked away. The tears dropped down her cheek, as she covered her mouth to suppress a sob. Looking up the sky, she wondered what would happen to her next. She closed her eyes and kept walking, until she hear him yell out to her. “I will come back and see you later.” He rubbed his chin and shook his head, then walk away thinking about how to get her back.
Gillian walked and walked, down the long and lonesome street by herself with tears in her eyes. It seemed like it was happening all over again, how she felt when he left her. The world was spinning around in her head, with these words “I want to break up with you because I think you're not the right girl for me.” And “I was forcing myself to love you, but I couldn't. You do not belong with me, and the time for me and you is through.” She kept walking, she didn't know where to go but she suddenly remembered where to go. The beach was the best place for her to calm herself down. To look at the waves break on the shore, releasing the ocean's anger. She wanted nothing more than to break and release her anger.
Gillian walked, lost in her thoughts until she found herself finally close to the beach. She felt like was finally home, in the place where she belonged. The weather was perfect for deep contemplation. A cool and strong breeze whipped through the air, carrying the ocean mist and making the crashing waves sound all the more powerful. This did much to help Gillian clear her mind and relax. She walked on the warm sand along the beach, seeing the couples holding hands, she felt like she's lost something that she didn't want to lose. Should she give him a chance? As she was walking, she ran into someone. She looked up and realized she knew the person who blocked her path. Upon this realization she turned slighting and walked on past the person.
“Have you ever watched as a huge wave crashed hard into the rocks? It splashes into many directions but eventually it forms back together as one. Those rocks are strong, dealing with life as if comes. Because you won't just face one splash but many others like them. Life is somewhat similar to the surface of the water. Sometimes, it is very quiet and peaceful, so much so that you could not find a single wave, like on a pond or a lake. But sometimes, life is as angry as the ocean on a stormy night, it becomes turbulent and you feel as if you may drown in its power to disrupt you're peaceful existence.” Nicholas said as he looked at her back as she walked away. That was the question Gill asked him before, he wanted to make sure that Gillian was indeed the same girl. Gillian turned around, finding herself interested, but after a moment she turned around and walked away. She didn't want to talk to anybody right now, especially not a guy.
Gillian slowly walked home, she reach the end of the road and turned towards her house, she noticed a few men outside. She didn't know why they there, but then she didn't really care too much about it. She steadied her step and as she approached she heard one man talking to her.
“Hey you, someone is looking for you.” He said started walking towards her, with the others closely following. Gillian turned around and looked to see whom it was that was trying to talk to her, she noticed that they were all gangsters. Gillian took a look at them and calmly replied, “I don't want to see him. Just go away and leave me alone.” As she finished her statement she started to walk away. But they didn't leave her alone; the man who talked to her came forward and pulled her into their car.
Later, Gillian was brought to a house near the beach; though it was very dark inside the house Gillian could still hear the noise of the crashing waves. After a few moments she heard a voice near her, “Hello Gillian, sorry I had to bring you here like this. I wanted you to come freely…”
Gillian cut him off before he could finish. “Psshh… save your breath Jordan I won't fall for your sweet words this time. Haven't you had enough of this game already?” She smirked, laughing inside and out at his blatant attempts to woo her into being with him again.
“I just want you to be mine again. I told you before that I love you. I don't really beg people for things, so sorry if I'm not good at it. Gillian, do you understand me? I'm serious when I say I want you back.” Jordan said as he stepped closer to Gillian. He wrapped his arms around her, pressing his face into to back of her neck. “All these years, I tried to forget you but I couldn't. I cannot escape the love I got from you. And you know what Gillian, all I wanted to do when I saw you was to hug you, and tell you how much I love you. So Gillian, I'm begging you now, don't leave me.”
Gillian stared at the ground, and in a soft voice she spoke. “Do you know what true love is? Do you? Let me tell you what love is. When you love someone, seeing them happy is like seeing yourself happy. You feel as if you are sharing their moment with them; there is nothing in the world can compare to it. When you see them sad, and cannot do anything about it, is like a thousand needles stabbed into your heart. A relationship is like a rose, how long it lasts, no one knows. Love can erase even the worst pain, to feel that kind of love, is something you cannot even begin to describe.” Gillian forced herself not to cry as she stood strong and spoke calmly, trying to explain. “I never blamed you for anything you did to me; although I had every right to do so. But all I can do now is to forget you and what we had. I thought that you would play with other people's hearts for the rest of your life. I never realized someday you might actually know about love. Don't you find yourself funny, maybe ironic? You talking about love, a gangster like would never know it. Maybe it's just a crush, a simple crush that you just can't let go. But that doesn't count as love. And I feel sorry for you, to now taste this bit of life, bittersweet.”
After finish her sentences, she left. Jordan come closer and pulled her hand back. He hold it as tight as he could, trying not to let it go. Gillian looked up, in his eyes, and spoke in calm voice, “ Let go. Let me go, or you will regret.”
“No, no one ever reject me you know. You’re the first girl, how can I let you go so easily?” He asked with anger in his face. But now, Gillian is getting mad. She suddenly slapped him and said in an angry voice, “ You’re not the only one who can get mad. And that slap, is for waking you up, it’s over.”
“You bitch, how dare you slap me?” Jordan raised his hand up, trying to slap her. Gillian whispered and as she closed her eyes, “If you have the guts to do it, feel free.” Jordan put his hand down and looked away. Later he sighed and exclaimed “Leave before I change my mind.”
Those men, seeing her leave, trying to pull her back. But later Jordan said, “Let her go.” And they leave her along, seeing Gillian walk out of the house, and headed home.
