But no. He looks serious as he continues to stare at me.
"I miss you, _____. And I really feel guilty sending you to leave with the boys," my father continues. "And although they have done a FINE job in changing you, I would much rather like you back home with me and your stepmother."
I open and close my mouth, trying to make words come out of it.
I look at the boys, who are equally shocked. I bet.
"Appa ..."
"______. Please. I know you've grown to love these boys and I respect that. But I really miss you," my father places his warm hand on my own cold one.
I have to do it. There is no other choice. I have to say yes. He's my father and truthfully, I missed him too.
"Okay," I nod at him.
My father grins before standing up. I stay seated.
"Well, I shall be waiting for you at the house. I'll leave you to pack now. Bye and I will see you later." My father takes my stepmother by her hand and lead her out of the front door.
I clutch the armrest and swallow hard.
Everyone is quiet, silently absorbing the sudden news.
I'm leaving.
"Well," I stand up and look down. I don't want to meet any of their eyes."I'm going up to pack."
They say nothing as I walk up the stairs. Suddenly, I feel someone's hand intertwining with mine.
"I'll help you," Jaejoong says.
I let him drag my towards my room.
I take out my suitcases from my closet and start handing my clothes to Jaejoong, who is busy folding them up before depositing them into my suitcases.
For a few minutes, we do our job in silence. Then, Jaejoong talks.
"I don't want you to go," he tells me.
"I have to," I simply answer back.
"No, you don't. You could've said no. You could've told your father that you wanted to stay here !"
"I missed him. I couldn't say no. He's my father !" I look at him and start protesting. Jaejoong barely raises his voice to anyone.
"What about us ? Won't you miss us ?! Won't you miss me ? Don't I mean anything to you ?!"
"Jaejoong, of course I'll miss you guys. It's just that ... I have to do this."
"NO YOU FREAKING DON'T !"
I stand up, suddenly enraged. "You can't tell me what to do ! You're nothing to me !"
Realising what I just said, I press a hand over my mouth.
I'm lying. He means a lot to me. He just can't know.
Jaejoong throws my shirt on the floor and stands up too. "Don't lie to yourself. What about that kiss ?"
I look away. "That doesn't mean anything. Our lips just accidentally met."
I hear Jaejoong snort and almost immediately, my anger comes back.
"I hate you," I mumble to him.
Surprisingly, he smirks. "No you don't."
He steps closer and I back away. "I do. I do. I really do."
He keeps walking towards me and I keep backing away, until my back hits my closet door. Jaejoong moves closer until he's just a few inches away from me.
"You don't hate me. Say that you don't," his warm breath tickles my face.
When I don't answer, he leans in and kisses me.
And immediately, just like yesterday, I melt. Just like a helpless person, I stand there and let him kiss me.
And I'm kissing back.
Finally, he pulls back and flashes me a slight smile.
"You don't hate me," he repeats.
No, I don't.
[Jaejoong's POV]
I stand there in front of her and listen as she breathes fast.
She pushes me back and walks back to the suitcase. I follow.
"Here," she casually hands me back the shirt I dropped on the floor, acting like nothing happened. "Fold this."
I take it. "Um. Okay."
Carefully, I fold the shirt and put it inside her suitcase, while she hands me her clothes, one by one.
She looks calm. Her face is almost expressionless.
Do my kisses really mean nothing to her ? Does she really feel indifferent towards me ?
Suddenly, her bedroom door flies open and Yunho, Yoochun, Junsu and Changmin walks in.
"______," Yunho starts talking. I continue with her clothes. "Even though you're expected to leave today, we would like you to join us tomorrow."
"Huh ?" _____ says.
"We're going to introduce you to the whole of Korea. To let you know how special you are to us," Junsu says.
Oh yes. The press conference tomorrow.
"Oh ... Um, okay .. ?" _____ replies.
With that, the rest flocks forward and helps with the rest of the packing. And so, after 15 minutes, we're done.
Slowly, we make our way towards the front door.
"Well, I guess this is it, guys ..." ______ says.
"Yeah," Changmin, looking calm. But, immediately, his face crumples up as he rushes forward and wrapping his arms around _____. "DON'T GO ! PLEASE DON'T GO !"
"Nice way to keep your cool, Changmin," Yoochun says. But he, too, rushes forward to join in the hug.
Junsu and Yunho glances at each other before dashing forward too.
My grip on the suitcase handle tightens.
I'm trying hard not to cry. I really don't want her to leave. Just when everything is comfortable, she has to leave.
We love her.
We, but mostly me, can't bear to see her go. But there's nothing we can do.
You know what they say: If you love someone, you gotta set her free.
My knuckles turn white as I clutch the handle.
I feel something wet dropping onto my arm.
I'm crying.
Riing, riiing~ !
_______'s phone rang.
Quickly, so that the others won't see, I wipe away my tears and try to look normal. _____ breaks out from the group hug and fishes out her handphone. She flips it open.
After listening to the person in the other line, she turns pale.
"What ?!" She shouts.
She nods a few more times before hanging up.
"What happened ?" Yunho asks.
"My father's car crashed into a tree and he's in a critical condition," she says. She opens the front door. "We have to go to the hospital. NOW !"
All of us scurries out of the house, into the car and to the hospital.
Not to sound mean but I'm quite happy.
Maybe, because of this incident, _____ gets to stay with us after all.
