I beat Yoochun hyung up the stairs so here I am, knocking on her door.
"_____ ?" I knock again.
There is no answer. I bend down and press my ear on the door to listen more carefully.
The door opens, I stumble forward and hit my head on the, luckily, rug-covered floor.
"Junsu ?"
I look up at _______, who is looking down at me with a curious expression on her face.
I stand up. "Erm ... Hi."
She walks to her bed and flops on it, face first.
I close the door behind me and make my way towards her bed. I sit on the corner of the bed and strokes ______'s hair.
"Are you okay ?"
I mentally kick myself. Of course she's not okay, JUNSU ! You idiot.
She turns her body, so that she's lying on her back. She stares at the ceiling while I continue stroking her hair.
"Hyung ..." She starts talking. "How's your parents ?"
Wha- ?
"Um, they're okay ..."
"My father ..." She sighs.
"Oh, that reminds me !" I stop stroking her hair and snap my fingers. "Your father is coming here today. He wants to tell you something."
______ sits up and burrows her head into her knees.
"I don't ... He ..."
I put an arm around her. "What happened, ______ ? Why did you go to the club yesterday ?"
She hesitates for a while.
"Yesterday, when I was buying the chocolates for Changmin and Yoochun hyung, I passed by a restaurant. I saw my father with a woman. I thought they were discussing about the business but then my father took the woman's hand and kissed it ..." She looks out of the window.
"That's not bad, is it ?"
"He's trying to replace my mother ..." She says slowly.
I see a tear trickle down her cheek.
I reach out and wipe it away. "Don't cry. Please don't cry. No woman can ever replace your mother, and you know that. If this woman makes your father happy, you should be happy for him too. He's having a hard time raising up a teenager on his own. Maybe he thinks that he needs some help. But no matter what, your mother is one of a kind and no one, and your father knows that too, can replace your own mother."
She wipes her eyes and faces me. "You're right. If this is what my father wants, then I won't stop him."
I smile at her. "Alright then. Let's go eat lunch."
She hesitates, yet again, before nodding. Both of us walks out of the room, towards the living room, where the rest are eating their lunch in front of the TV.
Immediately, when the others see ______, they stop eating and look up.
"How are you ? Still dizzy ? Do you want to vomit ?" Changmin starts blabbing.
I shoot him a 'shut up' look before leading _____ to an empty chair.
Yunho hands her his plate. "Here, eat mine. I'm not hungry anyway."
_____ smiles at him and-
Smile ?!
All of us, except Changmin and Yoochun, stares at her.
"______ ! You're smiling !" I point out.
"Why wouldn't I ? I have 5 idiots who care for me," she says.
"Aw, thank- HEY !" Jaejoong pretends to pout on the fact that ______ called us idiots.
_____ laughs.
Have we finally made her happy ?
[Your POV]
After lunch, I had to go up again to take a shower and change into a different set of clothes.
Otherwise, my father will smell the alcohol and ask about it.
Now, 2 hours later, I'm pacing up and down the living room, hands clasped behind my back.
I think about what Junsu said.
That I should be happy for my father.
How can I ? When I'm still thinking of my mother. And how I'm still wishing for her to be alive again.
And this woman ... Just comes into the picture.
"_______, relax. Okay ?" Changmin grabs my hand to stop me from walking up and down.
"I can't !" I protest.
"Whatever happens, we'll be here for you," Yunho grins at me.
"Yeah," Yoochun is playing something in his PSP, and he's not even looking up. "What Yunho said."
I open my mouth to answer, but got cut off when the doorbell at the front door rings.
Changmin lets go of my hand. "I'll get it. _____, be calm, alright ?"
"Yes, hyung," I mutter.
To avoid hyperventilation, I sit down on a chair and grip the armrests.
"_______ !" I hear my father's voice.
I close my eyes for a while, open them again and stand up to hug my father.
"Appa," I inhale his perfume, which I have always loved.
"Hello."
I look up and see the woman I saw at the restaurant yesterday. She smiles at me.
I glance at Junsu, who nods his head.
"Hi," I force a smile at her.
"Hello, boys. Is ____ giving you a hard time ?" My father asks, as Jaejoong directs him and the woman to the couch. Yunho hands them both a cup of tea each.
I sit on the same chair.
"Oh, not at all !" Yoochun finally finishes his game.
"In fact, it was great having ______ around," Changmin adds.
I smile at them.
"Ah, and I see you all have managed to make her smile," my father says.
Yes.
Sure.
My father clears his throat. "Ahem, well, I won't be long. The reason I came here is because I have something to tell _____."
I take a deep breath. I'm pretty sure I know what is going to happen next.
"_____," my father smiles and takes the woman's hand. "We're getting married."
My world stops moving as I see the diamond ring on the woman's finger.
I open and close my mouth like a goldfish but no words comes out.
I close my eyes and gulp.
Memories of my mother floods my mind.
I can't take this anymore.
I stand up. "I'm ... Happy for you."
Without waiting for an answer, I run out of the house, tears uncontrollably streaming down my face.
I don't know where I'm going and I don't care.
