Chapter 16

Myolie stood at the harbor waiting for Raymond. Something was wrong and she could tell when Raymond called her to meet her at the Harbor. She could only hope that he was still alright. She had given Leila and Bosco a called to let them know that she found Raymond and they were also on their way.

“Please be alright…” Myolie murmured as she stared at the dark horizon. In her hand she clutched a white flower petal. Sighing, Myolie stared at the dark horizon in front of her.

A shadow loomed over her after a few minutes. Myolie turned to see Raymond standing right before her.

Giving a soft smile Myolie greeted him. “Hi Raymond…Are you alright? About what happened earlier…let’s just forget everything and pretend nothing happen okay?”

Raymond stared at her with a blank expression. “Are you alright?” Myolie asked.

“Better than ever.” Raymond replied stiffly.

“Kill her, she killed your beloved Li Qian. Kill Myolie and avenge your love’s death.” Hoi Yee’s voice echoed in Raymond’s head.

“Raymond?” Myolie said waving her hand in front of his face.

“Well…There's something I want to tell you… Promise you won’t freak out though okay?” Myolie asked. Raymond remained emotionless.

“I wanted to tell you…” Myolie began as Raymond pulled out a long metal knife. He took a step towards Myolie.

Myolie turned around and gasped as Raymond stabbed her right in the abdomen.

“I know you what you want to tell me. You’re immortal…and you killed Qian.” Raymond said stiffly as he pulled the knife from Myolie’s body. Myolie slumped down and shook her head as she stared at Raymond.

“No….” Myolie whispered as she managed to slip the flower petal in Raymond’s pocket. Raymond watched as Myolie slumped down on the ground and then walked away.

“Hurry up!” Leila said impatiently.

“Siu jie! I’m going twenty miles over the speed limit already!” Bosco told her.

“I should’ve listened to Uncle Paul when he taught us the transportation charm!” Leila grumbled.

“Yeah that’s your fault. And if I get a beef jerky (traffic ticket) it’s your fault too.” Bosco teased hoping to relieve the tense atmosphere.

“Hurry up!” Leila whined.

What seemed like forever, Bosco finally pulled up at the Harbor. There was a crowd at the walkway. Leila felt her stomach lurch. She had a really bad feeling about this. Parking the Car Bosco ran up to join Leila. Slowly they made their way towards a crowd. Leila stepped in and gasped.

Myolie was lying there on the ground and a puddle of dark red blood was on the ground.

“Myolie!” Leila screamed as she rushed to his sister.

“Did anyone call the ambulance yet?” Bosco asked the people there. A man nodded. “I did! It should be on its way.”

“Step away!” Bosco said as he bent down in front of Myolie next to Leila. Tears were streaming down Leila’s eyes.

“Myolie, stay with us!” Leila told her sister.

“She’s still breathing…” Bosco said as she checked her pulse. It was beginning to grow weaker.

“Hoi Yee! That witch! She poisoned the knife that wounded Myolie!” Leila said as the blood stung against her fingers.

A wailing of sirens told them the ambulance had arrived. The paramedics lifted Myolie on a stretcher. To Leila’s surprise, Myolie stirred as she and Bosco climbed in with the paramedics.

“Myolie?” Leila spoke. She leaned closer to her sister.

“Ray….Ray…..mond….” Myolie whispered weakly.

“What about Raymond?” Leila asked.

“Be….be…..care…………….ful…..” Myolie whispered before falling unconscious again.

“Bosco you have to save her!” Leila murmured as she clutched his arm tightly. “I’ll try.” Bosco assured her.

“I’m Dr. Bosco Wong from the General Hospital.” Bosco told the paramedics. Leila watched as Bosco and two paramedics work on Myolie.

“Please be alright…” Leila prayed.

Once they reached the hospital, another doctor took over. Leila paced around worriedly. Fortunately, Hoi Yee was not at the hospital at this moment.

Bosco ran to a pay phone and dialed Raymond’s place. No one picked up. “Raymond! Where are you? Myolie’s in the hospital! Wake up!” Bosco said to the answering machine. He returned to the corridor to find Leila huddled in the corner. Her face was pale and her cheeks were wet with tears.

Bosco walked over to Leila and bent down in front of her. “Myolie will be fine…don’t worry.” Bosco assured her.

“Hoi Yee poisoned the knife…” Leila whispered. Bosco felt a tugging pain in his heart as he watched Leila sob. As if it was the most natural thing, Bosco wrapped his hands around Leila’s shoulder and pulled her closer. Leila fell into Bosco’s embrace sobbing softly.

Raymond dropped the knife on the table and poured himself a cup of wine. He drank it down in one gulp. The lilies around him began to wrinkle and die without his knowing.

He had avenged Qian, finally.

“Qian now you can rest in peace…” Raymond whispered as he touched the picture of his dead girlfriend.

Walking into his bedroom he took off his jacket. Raymond paused halfway when he felt something. Raymond emptied his pocket to find a fresh flower petal on his hands. A warmth, grew and spread through his body. Suddenly the coolness, anger and hate inside his mind disappeared.

Raymond slumped down on his bed feeling exhausted, having no memory of what so happened before. He glanced at the flower petal and then he remembered. A sinking feeling crept into his mind. He remembered the kiss, then leaving, and then encountering Hoi Yee. Suddenly a flash of him stabbing Myolie at the HK harbor struck through his mind.

“No!” Raymond exclaimed, he couldn’t have done that.

Jumping up, Raymond went to the living room, he felt as if icy water had splashed through him when he saw the metal knife lying on his coffee table stained with blood.

A red blinking light caught Raymond’s attention, it was his answering machine. Raymond heard Bosco’s message and quickly hurried to the hospital.

It took Raymond twenty minutes to get to the hospital, but it seemed like forever. Raymond hurried to the Emergency room to find his friend sitting with Leila.

The operation light was still on.

Bosco saw his friend and stood up.

“No! Don’t get too close to him!” Leila said pulling Bosco away from Raymond.

“Would someone explain to me what happened?” Raymond asked.

“He might be acting for all we know.” Leila told Bosco.

Raymond sighed and pulled out the flower petal he found in his jacket. Leila recognized her sister’s charm.

Leila quickly explained everything to Raymond about Hoi Yee possessing him. By the time she finished, Raymond slumped down on the bench burying his face in his hands. He couldn’t believe what had happen.

Bosco patted his friend on the shoulder.

The operation room light closed and the doctors stepped out.

“How is she?” Leila asked rushing to the doctor with Bosco and Raymond behind her. The doctor took off his mask and gazed at them with sober eyes. “I’m sorry…we tried our best…she’s gone.”
