...
"Why so glum today?" asked Eunhye after school.
"Nothing, I had a bad night. And there was a murder too.. right next to my house!" I said.
"boyfriend trouble? .. Oh yeah! My mom told me about that but I didn't know it was near where you live.." she said with concern and gave me a squeeze.
I nodded and let out a 'hm..' and stared off into space, my hands slipped deeper into my jacket pocket.
Then, Eunhye looped her arms around mine and started walk a bit faster.
"Come one, I know something that would cheer you up."
"Don't you have a date with dolphin boy today?"
"No, he has something to do.. and we don't have to date every single day! Haha~"
I smiled at Eunhye's effort in cheering me up, flushed away all my sadness, and wondered where the heck could she be taking me.
Actually, it was alright. It has been a long time since my best friend had kidnapped me somewhere.
I let out a giggle as I remembered the last time Eunhye and I went downtown.
"There ya go! Lemme hear a bigger laugh!.. Oooh, let's go in here, I'll get you something."
We went out the store about an hour later.
Eunhye had a large bag under her arm, whereas I carried nothing.
For a really nice clothing store, sure that bag size might even be too small, but it was a candy store for God's sake!
But that was Eunhye, always having an extreme craving for sweets.
We walked through the market village and peered at the knick knacks and accessories displayed at the stalls.
Every now and then, Eunhye would stuff a chocolate or candy into my mouth.
With a lollipop in hand, she suddenly pulled me into a stall covered with curtains, scarves, and golden jewelry.
A sadness rushed through me as visions of the golden locket came back to me.
But I soon forgot about it as I peered curiously at the woman behind the velvet covered table with a crystal ball.
She was rather large and wore a silky purple dress, a dark pink satin scarf draped around her shoulders and over her head.
"Come darling, I have news for you..." she said and pointed to me.
Eunhye pushed me forward and I was forced to sit on the seat, and she sat on the one next to it.
The lady continued. "In the future.. I see a man.. but he's leaving.."
I bit my lip and scoffed. "Yeah right.." But deep down inside, my heart told me that he already left.
I fought back tears and listened to what the chubby lady had to say.
She took my hand and examined it. "Ah, I see a good education in your future... but for now, you will be caught in a bad situation."
"What situation?" I asked impatiently, at the same time leaning towards her.
"I see complicated love, danger, a vanishing friend and hurt... and something else."
"What else?"
"And a locket that would change your future."
...
On the way home, I couldn't help but to think about what the lady in the dark booth had said about my future.
I was never the gullible type but for some reason, something told me that I had already known that that would happen without her telling it to me.
The good education part was satisfying, if I keep up with my studies, I can for sure pass my entrance exams.
Bad situation? Wasn't I already in one? ..
Complicated love, danger, a vanishing friend, and hurt. Oh, and the locket too.
But I already got rid of it, and Yoochun said if I destroyed it, Jaejoong and I would be sage.
I gulped down my saliva as I thought about the vanishing friend part.. I really did not want to lose Eunhye as well if I couldn't be with Jae.
Her words echoed my mind, especially the part about complicated love... me and Jae won't work out, right?
I knew it from the start.. a mortal and an immortal would never have a happy ending.
.. Right?
