Raymond and Charmaine sat on the couch watching TV, “Now that everyone knows about us, we don’t need to hide around anymore,” Raymond said switching the channel.
Charmaine took the remote off of him and changed the channel back, “True, but I actually thought it was quite fun hiding around.”
Raymond looked at her, “Really? Do you know how many times we almost got caught and had to jump out the window?”
“A few times.”
Raymond stood up and walked into his room to grab a jacket, the ring case was sitting on his table, he picked it up, “Should I ask her now? Or is that too informal.” He walked in circles around his room deciding whether to give it to her now or not, “How come Ron didn’t have trouble proposing? He made it seem so easy. Be brave Raymond, just do it.”
Raymond walked out of his room holding the ring case behind his back. “Charmaine, I have something I want to tell you.”
Charmaine saw how serious Raymond’s face was and sat up, “What is it?”
Raymond sat down beside her, “I’ve been thinking for a while about us, and I feel that…”
#Ring ring#
Charmaine’s phone began to ring, “Sorry,” she picked up, “Hello, Linda what is it?”
“Madam, I just sent the files that you wanted to your computer but when I was reading back on the news clippings about Joe Ma’s car accident, it says his car got hit by a truck into a wall which totally squashed his car. In the news paper clipping there was a picture of the truck so I checked the registration number and the truck was actually a rental truck,” Linda told Charmaine over the phone.
Charmaine kept on listening while Raymond was just sitting there watching her. Linda continued to talk over the phone, “So now I’m waiting for the list of customers that rented this truck, I should get the list tonight.”
“Where are you?” Charmaine asked looking at the time.
“I’m at home.”
Charmaine stood up and grabbed her bag, “I’ll be there in ten minutes,” and hung up the phone.
Raymond sat there frowning, “Where are you going?”
“Just have some work to do, I’ll see you tomorrow,” Charmaine answered rushing out the door.
Raymond leaned back on the couch and looked at the ring, “Bad timing I guess.”

*Linda’s Apartment, 10:33pm*
Charmaine rang the doorbell and waited at the front door, Linda opened the door, “Madam, I just received the list.”
Linda led the way into her room and clicked onto to file that was sent to her. There were about twenty pages of customer names that were on this list, not only that it shows not only the truck they are after but every other vehicle they rent out.
Charmaine scrolled down the list, “This is going to take so long to find, cant believe they sent he whole list of every vehicle they owned. I don’t think we can find it tonight. I think I might save this list,” Charmaine looked through her bag trying to find her USB memory stick, she reached inside and took out the memory stick that Raymond dropped in her room.
She looked through her bag again to find hers but couldn’t seem to find it, “I guess I’ll just use this first.” Charmaine plugged it into the computer and saved the file into Raymond’s memory stick.

*Alexander Building, Floor 38 Apartment A, 11:45pm*
Raymond was rolling around in his bed not being able to fall asleep, he sat up and turned his lamp on. He took out the ring from his drawer and stared at it, he grabbed his wallet on his table and flipped it opened and looked at the picture of Charmaine and himself, “That’s it, I’m going to do it tomorrow. No matter what happens I’m going to do it.”
Raymond reached for his phone and sends an SMS to Charmaine reading, ‘Hey, dinner tomorrow night, pick you up from the station.’

*Shopping Centre, 11:03am*
Ron and Bernice both took a day off to prepare for the wedding, “I didn’t realise how much things we have to prepare for the wedding, such a hassle,” Bernice complained.
“A hassle? Fine we won’t have a big wedding then, we can just sign the papers and not have a reception afterwards,” Ron said.
“I was only joking,” Bernice laughed.
They walked around the shopping centre for a while looking at things that were need for the wedding, “Ron…”
“Yep,” he answered looking at bed sheets.
“Where are we going to live after we get married?” Bernice asked.
Ron put the sheets down, “I was thinking we would live at my apartment.”
“What about your sister?”
Ron picked up the sheets again, “What about her?”
Bernice picked up another set of sheets, “Would she mind?”
“I don’t think so, but I won’t worry about that. She probably won’t have to live with us,” Ron said walking to the counter with his sheets.
“What do you mean?” Bernice followed behind him.
Ron remembered that Raymond didn’t want anyone to know about him wanting to propose, “I don’t know. We’ll see how things go.”

*Kowloon Police Station, 6:12pm*
Raymond waited outside the station for Charmaine. She walked outside with Bosco.
“Ray, taking out our madam?” Bosco asked, “Mind if I join you guys?”
“Yes!” Raymond said quickly pushing Bosco away.
“Fine, I understand you want to be alone with her. I’ve got plans anyway,” Bosco waved his goodbyes to the both of them and left.
Charmaine sat in the car, “Where we going?”
Raymond sat in the drivers seat, “I’m taking you to The Peak.”
----------------------------------------------------
*On the way to The Peak, 7:41pm*
Raymond and Charmaine had been driving around for the past hour not realising that Raymond had made the wrong turn about half an hour ago.
“Are we there yet?” Charmaine asked.
“I think so, its only meant to take thirty minutes,” Raymond drove around for a bit further. The road had no streetlights, “I think I made a wrong turn.” Raymond did a U-turn, the car started jerking and eventually came to a stop. Smoke came out of the front of the car, Raymond took a look and having no idea what was wrong with the car.
Charmaine stepped out of the car, “What happened?”
Raymond closed the bonnet, “Don’t know, guess we have to call someone to get us,” he grabbed his phone out of his pocket, “just great… there’s no reception. Check if your phone has reception.”
Charmaine checked her phone, “No reception.”
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Raymond said angrily to himself.
Charmaine patted him on the shoulder, “Don’t worry, it’s just dinner, not really missing out on a lot.”
Raymond stood there looking at the car, he could believe that every time he wanted to propose something stupid would come up.
“What do we do now?” Charmaine asked.
“I guess we just wait till someone drives pass.”
Raymond and Charmaine sat down on the side of the road, as hours passed the night was getting colder and colder.
Charmaine leaned her head on Raymond’s shoulder, “I’m hungry and I’m cold.”
Raymond put his hand around her and felt her whole body shivering from the cold. He took his jacket off put it over her shoulders, “Is this better?” he asked taking her hands in his to keep them warm.
“I’m still hungry,” Charmaine said in a shaky voice.
Raymond got up and walked to his car to get some biscuits, he opened the car door and paused for a while only just realising that the engagement ring was in his jacket which he just gave to Charmaine.
Charmaine was still sitting on the side of the road, half frozen from the wind blowing in her face. She rubbed her hands together and was about to put her hands into the pockets of Raymond’s jacket.
Raymond turned around and immediately ran towards her and held her hand, “It’s warmer this way,” he said smiling very uneasily. “How is the planning for Ron’s wedding?” he asked distracting her so he could get the ring from the pocket.
“It’s going well I guess, I’m not so sure,” wind blew in Charmaine’s direction, blowing her hair in her face. She raised her hand to brush her hair back, Raymond quickly stopped her and held onto both her hands with his. He used his other hand and brushed her hair to the side. He looked her in the eyes and brushed his hand softly on her cheek.
“Your face is cold,” Raymond leaned forward and kissed her softly. Charmaine closed her eyes and wrapped her hands around him. Raymond held onto her with one hand and used his other hand to reach in the jacket pocket to get the ring.
Charmaine could feel Raymond’s hand searching around in the pocket. Raymond finally got hold of the ring and slowly took it out, Charmaine backed away from Raymond and looked at him very suspiciously, she looked down at his hand, he quickly put his hand behind his back.
“What do you have in you hand?”
