Tavia was in the kitchen cooking dinner. The front door opened and Jessica walked inside holding onto the rock climbing equipment.
“I can’t believe we have the same car,” Jessica said as she walked inside.
Tavia turned around to see who she was talking to.
Ron walked in behind her helping Jessica carry some of her stuff, “Yeh I know. You have to lend me some of that wax you use for your car.”
“Sure, I’ll get it for you now,” Jessica walked straight pass Tavia and didn’t even greet her.
Tavia saw that it was Ron and immediately stood up straight, “Sir.”
Ron laughed at how serious Tavia was, “You can call me Ron if you want.”
Jessica walked out of the room and gave Ron the wax she uses for her car, she sat down on the couch with him, “You know what else I can’t believe? We live right across the road from each other.”
“Small world once again,” Ron saw a few DVD’s on the TV cabinet and bent down to have a look, “Is this yours?”
“Yep, I love this movie. I must say an all time classic but some people in this house don’t appreciate good movies,” Jessica said out loud referring to Tavia.
Ron looked up at Tavia, “You don’t like this movie? It’s like the best movie made.”
Tavia didn’t know how to answer. She stayed in the kitchen and continued cooking, every so often there would be a roar of laughter coming from the living room. She wasn’t sure why but just didn’t like the fact that her sister was becoming such good friends with Ron.
“Is Charmaine coming home to eat?” Jessica shouted out at Tavia.
Tavia took two plates of food to the dinner table, “Yeh, she said she’ll be back in about ten minutes.”
“Good,” Jessica turned back to Ron, “do you want to stay for dinner?”
“Sure, why not.”
“Why don’t you call your brother and see if he wants to come,” Jessica suggested.
Ron dialled Moses mobile, “Hey bro.”
Moses was at home eating a cup noddle, “What’s up Ron?”
“Do you want to join me for dinner?”
Moses took a bite of his noodles, “Sure… where are you.”
“I’m at the Kingswood Apartment, 39C.”
Moses put down his cup noodles, “I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.”
Ron hung up the phone forgetting to tell Moses that he was at Jessica’s house.
“Hey, didn’t you say you were going to show me how to install that computer program?” Jessica said standing up.
Ron stood up, “That’s right.”
Jessica walked into her room with Ron following. Tavia was still in the kitchen watching them two chatting away and so buddy, it really made her feel weird. She walked closer to Jessica’s room to see if she could hear what they were talking about.
Charmaine opened the door and saw Tavia sneaking around Jessica’s room, “What are you doing?”
Tavia quickly moved away from Jessica’s room and went back into the kitchen, “I’m just cooking dinner.”
“Do you have enough for another person?” Raymond asked walking in behind Charmaine.
“You guys are back together?” Tavia asked extremely happy.
“She gave in to my sweet talking,” Raymond laughed.
Charmaine slapped Raymond on the arm, “No I didn’t.”
Tavia burst into laughter and jumped up and down in the kitchen knowing she had beaten Jessica.
“That was easy, I wonder why I couldn’t install it myself when I tried?” Jessica asked Ron as they walked out of the room. Jessica saw Charmaine sitting on couch with Raymond, “Who’s your friend?”
Charmaine and Raymond stood up, “This is Raymond.”
Jessica looked Raymond up and down, “So you’re the guy who broke her heart then ended in a coma loosing his memory. We finally meet.”
Charmaine cleared her throat really loudly and glared at Jessica.
Raymond laughed, “That’s me,” he stood there and thought hard, “We’ve never met before?”
“No, Charmaine didn’t allow you to meet any of her siblings because she thought you were an embarrassment,” Jessica said really seriously.
Charmaine kept glaring at Jessica, “No. It was because you were studying in England and Tavia was in Canada then she went into the Police Academy that’s why you didn’t get to meet him.”
“Then you guys broke up Charmaine went to study her Masters and PHD, by the time she came back you lost your memory,” Jessica blabbed out, “So we didn’t get to meet you until now.”
“Well it’s nice to meet you,” Raymond said laughing slightly. Raymond turned to Ron and was about to ask him something but Ron knew exactly what he was going to ask.
“I’m new around here, so we haven’t met before,” Ron shook his hand, “I’m Ron.”
“Let’s start eating, shall we?” Tavia suggested
Raymond sat next Charmaine while Ron sat with Jessica on the opposite side leaving Tavia sitting by herself.
“I’m going to assume you guys are back together now? What about Kevin then? Jessica asked taking a sip of water.
“What about Kevin?” Charmaine asked not really knowing what Jessica was getting at.
“Nothing. What about you thinking that Raymond will get hurt if you guys are back together again?” Jessica asked again.
Charmaine swallowed her food, “Don’t worry I have everything all sorted out. Tomorrow I’m taking him to the insurance company and he will get health insurance, life insurance pretty much anything that will secure his safety.”
The doorbell rang, Jessica got up and opened the door. Standing on the other side of the door stood Moses. His face had immediately turned to shock horror, “Hey, we just started eating,” she said pulling him inside.
Moses should have guess that Ron was with Jessica since they were together all day, “I um… already ate so I’m going to go,” Moses lied.
“Why don’t you stay for desert then?” Jessica pulled Moses in more and closed the door.
Moses seriously felt as if he was trapped. He sat down on at the dinner table facing Tavia.
“So how was your day?” Jessica asked Moses.
“Pleasant until now,” he replied under his breath.
Charmaine and Raymond both heard his little comment and looked at each other with grins on their faces.
“What was that?” Jessica asked not being able to hear what he just said.
“I said I’m tired from being woken up so early this morning,” Moses said out loud and clear.
“Getting up early is good. I’ve recently been getting up early and I feel so much more energetic and it does make you feel much younger too.”
“I already feel very young,” Moses replied coldly.
For the rest of the dinner Moses and Tavia sat in silence while Raymond and Charmaine were chatting away and Jessica and Ron were deep in conversation.
After dinner Moses pulled Ron to the side, “Can we go now?”
“Why? Jessica just is just about to lend me a book to read, she said its really good,” Ron patted Moses on the back, “I’ll be quick.”
Tavia watched as Jessica and Ron went back into her room, she didn’t know why but she really hated the fact that she and Ron were such good buddies. She felt as if Jessica was intruding into her work life. She sat on the couch next to Moses.
“You look like you want to go,” Tavia said.
Moses smiled, “You’re a smart one.”
Tavia laughed a little knowing the reason why Moses didn’t want to be here.
Raymond looked at his watch, “I have to get going, got a night shift to fill in,” he told Charmaine.
Charmaine pouted her lips, “Do you really have to go?”
Raymond held onto Charmaine’s hand, “I don’t want to but I have to. I’ll see you tomorrow morning after my shift?”
“You’ll be too tired, go home and sleep I’ll see you tomorrow night?” Charmaine suggested.
Raymond nodded his head then grabbed his bag then headed towards the front door, “See you guys later,” he waved his goodbyes to Tavia and Moses who were still sitting on the couch.
Charmaine walked Raymond out to the hallway still not letting go of his hand.
“Go back inside, its cold out here,” Raymond said trying to get Charmaine to go inside.
Charmaine didn’t let go, “I’ll walk to downstairs.”
Raymond smiled, “Fine.”
*Outside Kingswood Apartment, 9:18pm*
Raymond and Charmaine walked downstairs hand in hand, both not really wanting to part with each other even though they both knew they would see each other the next day.
“Ok, you can go back in now,” Raymond said facing Charmaine.
Charmaine had a cheeky smile on her face, “How about I borrow Dai Ga Jie’s car and drive you to work?”
Raymond sighed, a gust of wind blew in their direction. Raymond could see Charmaine getting cold, he rubbed his hands up and down her arms keeping her warm, “It’s getting cold, you better go back up.”
“How about I walk you to the bus stop?” Charmaine sneezed.
Raymond pulled Charmaine forward and hugged her keeping her close to him. Charmaine leaned her head on his shoulder.
“If you get sick then I’ll be really upset, I’ll call you as soon as I finish my shift tomorrow,” Raymond said still hugging Charmaine in his arms.
“Ok, be safe.”
Raymond took his jacket off and wrapped it around Charmaine, “I don’t want you to get sick,” and walked down the street to the bus stop.
Charmaine felt warm wearing Raymond’s jacket, she smiled to herself as she watched him walked down the street.
Kevin was at the top of the road in his car and could see everything going on between Raymond and Charmaine. Although his feelings towards Charmaine weren’t as deep as Raymond’s but it was the fact that Kevin didn’t like to loose. He didn’t want to loose so early and especially to Raymond who was nobody. Once Kevin set his mind to something, not much can change it and now he was determined to get Charmaine.
