Chapter 17

"Do you want a lift or not?"

*Outside Cemetery, 11:01am*

Tavia bent down and looked through the window, “It’s you, didn’t you take me to the hospital? Why are you giving me a lift? I don’t really know you.”

Myolie never did anyone any favours, she found that no one was worthy for her to do things especially if its going out of her way, “Why are you asking so many questions? Do you want a lift or not?”

Tavia looked around and saw no taxis, “Thanks,” and opened the door and sat inside.

Myolie started to drive, “You must know that I don’t do this very often.”

“Do what?” Tavia asked checking the interior of Myolie’s car.

“Do people favours.”

Tavia looked at Myolie strangely, “I never asked you to do me a favour.”

Myolie thought about it for a while only to realise that she offered a lift to Tavia for no reason, “Fine.”

“Why did you stop to give me a lift?” Tavia asked.

Myolie started thinking again, she actually had no clue why she did that, “I don’t know.”

Tavia laughed a little, “I’m Tavia and you are?”

Myolie gave Tavia a weird look, “I don’t give out my name that easily.”

“Ok,” Tavia said having the feeling that Myolie was a little weird.

“…but,” Myolie continued to say, “I will break the rules and tell you my name. It’s Myolie.”

“That’s a nice name,” Tavia smiled trying to be nice.

“I know it is, you don’t have to state the obvious.”

Although Myolie was a little strange but Tavia actually found it quite amusing. She’s never met anyone like this before.

Myolie stopped at the red light, she turned around and looked at Tavia and the way she was dressed, “What are you wearing?”

Tavia looked down at her clothes, “What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?”

Myolie sighed, “I’m taking you shopping…”

“What?” Tavia surprised of what Myolie just suggested.

“I can’t have you sitting in my car looking like that.”

Tavia sat back on her seat thinking how this whole encounter with Myolie is just strange.

*Tower CEO’s Office, 11:15am*

Kevin sat in his office silently tapping his pen on the table. His office phone began ringing, “Hello?”

“Mr. Cheng, you were looking for me?”

“I want you to keep an eye on Raymond Lam,” Kevin said twisting his pen.

“Yes, Mr. Cheng.”

“That’s all for now,” Kevin hung up the phone and had a grin on his face. He picked up his phone again and dialled Jessica’s number.

*Tower Shopping Centre, 11:20am*

Jessica picked up her phone, “Hey Kev, what’s up?”

“Can you come into the office today?” Kevin asked.

“I’m actually here, I’ll come up in a bit,” Jessica hung up the phone.

“Going somewhere?” Ron asked as he browsed electronic section.

“Yeh, I’ll be a few minutes. Call you when I’m done,” Jessica said while heading towards exit of the shop.

Ron kept walking around the shopping centre by himself; he browsed at the electronics then bought a few books.

“Seriously, I don’t need any more clothing, what I’m wearing is fine,” Tavia kept repeating to Myolie who already bought her several bags of clothing.

Myolie took a sip of her coffee then looked Tavia up and down, “You can’t be serious right? Your taste in clothing is just horrible.”

Ron saw Tavia walking out of a clothing shop and walked towards her.

“You have to understand that taste in clothing is very important, you can’t just walk around like your some sort of homeless person,” Myolie kept lecturing Tavia.

Tavia looked down at what she was wearing, “I don’t look homeless,” she lifted her head up and saw Myolie about to walk into Ron, “watch out!”

It was too late, Myolie had split hot coffee all over Ron’s shirt and arm, “Ouch,” looking at his burnt arm.

Myolie looked at her coffee then looked up at Ron, “You should really watch where you’re going.”

“What? You bumped into me,” Ron replied trying to squeeze the coffee from his shirt.

“That’s because you were in the way. Is this about money?” Myolie took out her purse and took out two thousand dollar notes, “Here’s some money for dry cleaning.

“I don’t want your money,” Ron pushed her hand away.

“You don’t have to pretend, I like to give to the less fortunate,” Myolie shoved the cash in Ron’s face.

Ron turned and looked at Tavia standing on the side, he shook his head and turned around walking off. Tavia quickly chased after Ron.

“Sorry Sir,” Tavia apologised.

“It’s not your fault, your friend is just weird. I’ll see you tomorrow at work,” Ron said and walked towards the restroom.

*Kingswood Apartment, 39C, 6:14pm*

Charmaine opened the door to the apartment with Raymond following in behind her. He walked to the kitchen with the bag of groceries, “Let me demonstrate my cooking skills for you tonight,” he said putting an apron on.

Charmaine couldn’t help but to laugh, “You can cook? You didn’t know how to cook before, I use to have to cook for you.”

“Things have changed,” Raymond pulled Charmaine out of the kitchen, “This is my space now. Go on, out of my kitchen.”

“Fine,” Charmaine sat on the couch and switched the TV on. Even though the TV was on she was watching Raymond cook instead finding it amazing that he had turned into such a great cook.

“No peaking,” Raymond shouted out seeing Charmaine starring at him.

Charmaine quickly turned facing the TV, “I’m not peaking.”

Raymond continued cooking but suddenly he felt a pain rushing through his head. It felt like a lighting striking through his head, he grasped onto the bench trying to keep his balance. He used his other hand and clenched his head. The pain in his head wouldn’t stop, he took a step back and accidentally knocked a spoon on the floor.

Charmaine stood up, “Is everything alright?”

Raymond didn’t want Charmaine to see him in so much pain otherwise she would start blaming herself for this, “I just dropped something,” he quickly got up and went to the bathroom locking the door. The pain in his head was getting worse. He kept hitting his head hoping the pain would stop.

It had been a while and Charmaine couldn’t hear any noise coming from the kitchen, she got up and had a look but Raymond wasn’t there. She knocked on the bathroom door, “Ray, are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” the pain in Raymond’s head had suddenly stopped. He looked in the mirror and splashed his face with some water before walking back outside.

Raymond opened the door and Charmaine was waiting outside, she held onto his hand, “Are you alright?”

“Just felt a bit stuffy in the kitchen for a moment.”

Charmaine pulled him on the couch and sat him down, “I knew you weren’t up for cooking,” she took the apron off of him, “I’ll cook for you.”

Charmaine walked into the kitchen to finish Raymond’s cooking. Raymond watched her from the living room. He rubbed his head a little and still could feel a bit on tingling in his head.
